FREE MONEY!!!!!
I just signed up with a company for free and they sent me a $5.00 prepaid mastercard!  I went and spent that, then read that for each referral I got I would get another $5.00!  I'm currently up to $40 in referrals and I have used it all so I know it's actually on the card!  It is totally free to join and it takes about 5-10 business days to get the card.  I signed up on 2/19 and got my card on 2/28 Smiley  If you want more information send me an e-mail vancejr41905@sbcglobal.net with the e-mail you will use to sign up and I will send you the information.  There is no referral link so if you don't use the e-mail you send me I won't get credit for the referral.  Hope to hear from you soon because I don't know how much longer they are going to be handing out 5 dollar bills to people!  Get yours while you can!!!

I stole this from a friend....
Jack wakes up with a huge hangover after the night at a business function. He forces himself to open his eyes and the first thing he sees is a couple of aspirins next to a glass of water on the side table. And, next to them, a single red rose!

Jack sits down and sees his clothing in front of him, all clean and
pressed.

Jack looks around the room and sees that it is in perfect order,
spotlessly clean. So is the rest of the house.

He takes the aspirins, cringes when he sees a huge black eye staring back at him in the bathroom mirror and notices a note on the table:

"Honey, breakfast is on the stove, I left early to go shopping - Love you!!"

He stumbles to the kitchen and sure enough, there is hot breakfast and the morning newspaper. His son is also at the table, eating. Jack asks, "Son...what happened last night?"

"Well, you came home after 3 am, drunk and out of your mind.
You broke the coffee table, puked in the hallway and got that black eye when you ran into the door."

"So, why is everything in such perfect order, so clean, I have a rose and breakfast is on the table waiting for me?"

His son replies, "Oh, THAT!...Mom dragged you to the bedroom and when she tried to take your pants off, you screamed, "Leave me alone, bitch, I'm married!!!".

Broken table - $200
Hot breakfast - $5
Red Rose bud - $3
Two aspirins - $0.25

Saying the right thing, at the right time... Priceless

Credit Card Interest Rates

Did you know that you can lower your credit card interest rate just by calling and asking? Of course you have to have good credit with the company, but all you have to do is ask. One of my credit cards is slowing climbing in interest all the time. I was pretty sure when I opened this account it was supposed to be for a set rate apr. They are currently researching that for me, as I don't agree with their terms as they are now. When I opened my statement I decided to look at the APR, which I rarely do. This time it was 16.24%. That's kinda high. So I called them, and they checked out my account, and lowered it to 13.99%. Not as great as I hoped. That was the Visa card. So I called the company with whom I hold a MasterCard and asked them to lower my rate. It was 8. something plus prime. They lowered it to 5.9 plus prime. So then I asked if they had a special rate if I make a transfer from another card. Hmm, she said I could get a 4.9% rate for 12 months on a transfer then it goes to the same rate as regular purchases. Plus there is no transfer fee. Oh yeah, the majority of the balance of that 13.99% card is going to be moved over to the MasterCard. Unfortunately, even though I have a high limit, it isn't high enough to accomidate the entire balance of the Visa. We'll probably pay off the rest of that balance with the tax refund, and pay quite a bit more on the MasterCard. Yay!

If you can't pay it all off, well, at least try to get the interest rate lowered! ;)

 MasterCard security breached

More than 40 million cardholders may be affected

June 17, 2005

 SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- MasterCard
International said late Friday that a security breach at a third-party payment
processor has exposed more than 40 million credit card holders to potential
fraud.

MasterCard said it
discovered the breach at an office of CardSystems Solutions Inc. in Tucson,
Ariz. An unauthorized individual was able to infiltrate the firm's computer
network and access cardholder data.

Almost 14 million
of the affected cards are MasterCard-branded. The remaining more than 26
million are other types of cards.

Atlanta-based
CardSystems, which processes card payments for merchants, didn't return calls
seeking comment.

MasterCard has
told its customer banks about specific card accounts that may have been
compromised so that they can take appropriate measures to protect cardholders,
the company added.

"These are
the accounts that are potentially at risk from fraud," Sharon Gamsin, a
MasterCard spokeswoman said, stressing that there's no indication that actual
fraud has taken place.

The unidentified
person entered a code in CardSystems' computers to gain access to the data,
which included basic information such as card and bank routing numbers and
expiration dates, Gamsin said.

No addresses,
names or Social Security numbers were stolen, she said.

"If a
cardholder notices a transaction that's unusual or looks fraudulent they should
notify their issuer immediately," Gamsin said, adding that U.S. MasterCard
cardholders aren't responsible for unauthorized transactions on their cards.

The news from MasterCard,
jointly owned by its 25,000 member financial institutions, was the latest in a
series of security breaches and identity theft at corporations.

CitiFinancial said
June 6 that it had notified 3.9 million branch-network customers that their
personal information had been lost.

The Citigroup Inc.
(C:

credit bureau. The tapes were shipped via United Parcel Service (UPS:

, the company said. See
full story.

Other breaches at
companies including Bank of America (BAC:
news,
chart,
profile)
, Reed Elsevier (ENL:
news,
chart,
profile)
unit LexisNexis and DSW Shoe Warehouse occurred earlier this year.

The breaches have
sparked a response from Washington: Representative Edward Markey (D-Ma.) has
introduced three bills to protect consumers against identity theft.

"Today's
announcement only underscores the need for new federal legislation to protect
American consumers from the unending stream of revelations from corporate
America about failure after failure to protect the public from data security
breaches," he said in a statement Friday.

Markey also
lampooned MasterCard's successful advertising campaign, saying in his
statement: "Holding up a Liquor Store: $250.00. Robbing a Bank:
$17,500.00. Car Jacking: $13,000. MasterCard Security Breach: Priceless."
