Without more details, I can't make a judgment call, but just going off this article their reasoning sounds weak. What do you guys think? Does anyone know more information about this?

The search is on for a reason behind the Virginia Tech Massacre. It will be postulated that the young man was mentally damaged in some way, or perhaps suffered some kind of discrimination, was a victim of social nonacceptance of some kind, perhaps he was jilted by a lover - any number of socio-psychological reasons will be postulated. Any or all of these things may be true. But the core reason this occurred will never be taken into consideration by our ultra-educated world. We naively believe that our head-knowledge will give us the answers we seek. Psychologists, psychiatrists, sociologist and other -ists will pour over the available information and come to some educated-guess that will satisfy the masses and we will all go on with our daily lives as if nothing were amiss; waiting until it happens again, and it will.

Why? That is the question we should all be asking ourselves. Doesn't it appear that these types of tragedies are occurring more and more often and with increasing severity? Could it be that we are just raising a bunch of messed up children who want to lash out at anyone that that looks at them cross-ways? Is there some type of virus, or a pollutant from industry or from our food supply that is causing this increase in psychologically damaged people? The answer may be yes to any or all of these but the CORE reason for this ever-increasing problem doesn't have a definitive scientific explanation, nor will any scientist or -ologist of any sort ever hit on the answer. It is a matter of the heart and soul.

We have forgotten and forsaken God! We as individuals and as a country have catapulted him out of our lives. We have told him that he is no longer welcome in our society or in our homes. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; the God who sent us Jesus Christ - his only son has become nothing but a curse word, a mockery to us all. We have kicked him out of our schools, government institutions, homes and businesses!

God said this would happen, just as he predicted that Israel would forsake him and would be defeated. Look at what happened to their country almost 2000 years ago! We should all see the lesson in Israel's downfall. There is nothing new under heaven! The rise and fall of nations on this earth can be traced to their devotion to God in the beginning and precipitous decline and defeat when they no longer honored him.

We were once a nation of God-fearing people who founded this country on CHRISTIAN principles! The founding fathers, when they stated that there would be freedom of religion in this-then newly founded nation, meant that there should be freedom of CHRISTIAN beliefs that were based upon the Judeo-Christian Bible! Go ahead, research it yourself and you will find that ALL of our founding fathers believed in God and Jesus Christ!

We are at a dangerous and precipitous point in out nation's history! We are witnesses to the terrible results of our spiraling decline in moral values. Without the blessings of Our Lord, it will only get worse. If we do not turn around and begin to honor and praise our God and our Lord and Savior - Jesus Christ, our nation will become a footnote in history!

I have taken 24 hours off and I come back to find that a horrible deed was committed. I honestly don't know how to express my sympathy for the mothers and fathers and other family members who are without a loved one. The irony of it occurring so closely after easter does continue to resonate with me however. I only hope that the peace and hope that is remembered at Easter will do somewhat to assuage the feelings that must pervade their lives today.

Having said that, it is my greatest fear that this situation will be misused by those with political axes to grind to strip yet more of our Constitutional Rights and Liberties. But I'm not going to delve into that... today. I just needed to briefly mention it though.

My sympathies to all those who were burned by yesterday's occurrence.

Yet another violent event has occurred in April with the mass shooting today at Virginia Tech. The Columbine shooting also took place in April.
 
Many people try to find connections. Do these things often occur in April because of Hitler's birthday? Is it because of the change in the weather?

Some claim the month of April is cursed because other tragic events have occurred in this month: the sinking of the Titanic, for example.

All I know is that mass shootings are either becoming frighteningly more frequent or they're simply becoming more publicized. This event comes mere months after the Trolley Square shooting.

Also living in a community where such violence was unexpected, my heart goes out to those affected by this, especially seeing that the casualty list is much larger.
