Marzano @ MindSay

RIP Johnny Marz
It is with great sadness that I have to report that John Marzano has passed away.

I offer my sincerest condolences to John's family and friends on this sad day.

Too early, he was just getting going, but he leaves one heck of a legacy.

You can read more here.

I'll leave you with something he told everyone he met, that his father John Marzano, Sr. told him: "It is nice to be important but it is more important to be nice"

I miss you already Marz.

Howardya
Yes Howards bat looked very slow against Brad Penny, I thought he would have a tough time against the closer Brandoban ( i think thats how you spell it) but he got the bat head out on the first pitch and the rest is history. Phillies are in the thick of the race in the NL East, and wild card, they need to be consistent, and Ed Wade will make or break his time in Philly in the next 2 weeks.

Hard at work

Here's me and Matty Yallof doing some last minute homework before Phillies Post Game Live (I'm on the right).

The power of Italian Cooking (and Moms)

My mom made Griffey (Ken Griffey, Jr.) some stromboli yesterday.   Most of the guys that I used to play with love my mother's cooking.   He hit a big homer last night and told me it was because of mom's stromboli.

Maybe we should start feeding the Phils these things huh.

Another tough loss last night for the Phils.  Padilla's on the mound today, and he actually pitched OK his last outing (only 4 ER), so maybe he can turn his season around.

The Bench comes to the rescue

The Phils got a huge boost last night from their bench players.   Tomas Perez and Todd Pratt jumped in and gave the team a spark.   Pratt had a career high 5 RBI and led the Phils to a much needed offensive explosion as well as a win.   Not only that, but Brett Myers continued his strong groove with another strong performance.   His ERA in 8 starts this year is 1.63.  You got it, 1.63.

Pratt's done a great job with the staff this year, and any offense he can offer is a plus.   Being a former backup catcher, I know that it's tough to be mentally prepared to catch every 4 or 5 days rather than every day.   Pratt has this down to a science and it's nice to see his fire on the field.

The Phils have to win tonight to keep some momentum going.
