Things that should be Legal

There are a few things that I think the government should legalize, in no particular order.  The first thing I'd like to discuss is the legalization of gay marriage.  What's the problem here, folks?  Is it hurting you?  They have just as much of a right to marriage as the rest of us, and I'm so sick of hearing the "sanctity of marriage" argument.  Heterosexuals ruined that a long time ago!  Don't put that on them!  Here's the breakdown, gay men and women deserve not only the same legal rights as their straight counterparts, but the same quixotic rights, as well.  This one really seems like a no-brainer to me!

Next, I'm going to step out on this ledge here, and say that I believe marijuana should be legal.  Have you ever heard the term “angry drunk”?  Yes.  You probably even have one in your family, but I digress.  Have you ever heard the term “angry pothead”?  No, because there aren’t any.  They’re too chill, laid back, chillaxed even.  Additionally, there are way more alcohol related car accidents than weed related.  First of all, the stoner has to actually get up and find his keys, when he’s too lazy to even get off the couch and get a drink.  In summation, potheads are great!  Everyone should befriend one.  Potheads love everyone, except for those who hate on pot.  In all seriousness, marijuana can be used medicinally for a plethora of conditions, too many to name here, but I know it helps cancer patients gain weight.  I wonder why that is.  ;)

Last, I think prostitution should be legalized everywhere.  It works, and has worked, in Nevada for the last couple of hundred years now.  It keeps crimes and disease down.  The girls are tested rigorously to make sure they’re “clean”.  The madam with her fresh, decent rooms replaces the pimp and his fleabag motels.  The girls have real security, and make real money for performing a real service.  Let’s face it, prostitution is the oldest profession in all of the land!

Tell me how you feel, but keep the chastising to a minimum please.  I bruise easily.  :D

Until Next Time,

Danielle

Life is OK
I figure that this is as good of a day as any to start a blog.

For now, I'm biding my time... trying to enjoy myself as much as possible while dealing with the stresses of living at home and being in high school. None of it's really that bad, I just am yearning for something different.

Anger has a tendency to hold me hostage, sometimes. Sadness too. I'm trying to uproot anger, trying to be more compassionate, trying to live simpler, trying to not hold my surroundings up to any unachievable ideals. I think it's going okay. When you're living your life in a place where you have so little control over what's going on around you, you find it so much harder to control what's going on inside your mind and body.

I'm sober; remarkably so.
I greatly miss my daily rituals of Cannabis consumption, as I haven't been partaking in the last two months or so. That's alright though, as I'm high on life.
I'm starting to see firsthand that life is a trip and I'm in for a great one.

I'm tired. Really tired.
This week has been ridiculous my Caffeine intake has been through the roof.
I just need to be alert, awake and paying attention to everything that's going on throughout my entire day... It's hard to NOT use Caffeine as much as I do.  Been trying to ween myself off of it over the last two days... Went from a consistent 500mg+ per day to a half a cup of coffee yesterday and nothing today. I've certainly had worse headaches, but this one is so persistent.

The world is beautiful.
I love our Earth, I love every season and I love spending time in the midst of it all.
We're all connected to each other and every speck of matter that makes up this world and this universe. The universe is everything that exists or has the potential to exist, the symbiotic relationship between space and time. Ideas are as real to me as anything I can hold.

Our environment is deprecating... fast.
As the cause of many of our environmental issues and supposedly the most rational beings inhabiting this planet, we Humans absolutely MUST conserve and be true stewards to this beautiful rock we were lucky enough to gain control of.

People amaze me.
Human nature never ceases to blow my mind. So predictable and yet... so spontaneous. I often zone out when watching people going about their lives, amazed at the complexity of our mind and body.

As much as I'm a fan of the winter, I'm about ready for it to get warmer.
The Sun is really, really nice.

Anyway... this was sort of a big ramble. I'll get more specific once I gather my thoughts.

Marijuana bailout

Could the legalization of marijuana help "bailout" America from its financial troubles?

Assemblyman Tom Ammiano of San Fransico has introduced a bill (AB390) that would legalize and tax marijuana. Each one ounce sale would generate $50 in taxes resulting in aproximatly 1.3 billion dollars a year in tax revenues for California (http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section=news/local/san_francisco&id=6674064. )

California already has laws for medical marijuana but federal laws do not support them.

I say 3 cheers for Tom Ammiano! It's about time someone took bold action in the fight for legalizing pot!

And hey, I don't even smoke it but I'm all for legalizing it! Why should drug lords profit from it? Legalized gambling took profits from the hands of the mafia and put it in the hands of the state. The same with alcohol and tobacco. You cannot legislate morailty. People are going to do what their going to do and that is a fact. Why not make it work in Americas favor?

There are some really bad drugs out there we should be fighting..like meth. That stuff is lethal. But pot does less harm than alcohol or tobacco. And let me tell you if more people smoked pot there would be a whole lot less fighting going on! Pot makes you lathargic, not angry like alcohol. As a matter of fact I highly reccommend it to our government and UN meetings. Those guys really need to chill! Also, people who are on "prozac" and other anti-depressants could benefit from its use!

I smoked pot and cigarettes from the time I was 13 till 37. One day, I laid them both down. I decided niether one was healthy so I just stopped. That was 13 years ago and I'm still "smoke free". My point...I didn't go nuts or freak out..I just stopped ..pure and simple. I have no desire to smoke though I have had a million chances. It's my choice not to. I don't drink either.

If pot becomes legal, it doesn't mean more people will smoke it. It just means America will benefit from the sale instead of the dealers. Prohibition only drove the alcohol bussiness "underground", it did not stop the sales.

Marijuana is big bussiness and the useless fight against it is costing Americans billions. We have an opportunity to turn this thing around.

If you believe pot should be legalized then you should join in the fight. A group called NORML is a group working to reform marijuana laws (http://www.norml.org/), you can find out more what you can do to help there. Also, write your congress, senators, govenors and the president and tell them you support its legalization.

Marijuana use(i.e. personal freedoms)

Marijuana should be legal.  It is a crazy messed up situation that a plant with this many beneficial qualities should after 10,000 years of helping man find it's biggest enemy in the one nation that claims to be all about the home of the brave and land of the free.  Land of the free not to disagree.  This issue has more implications than simply those who use it for medical use, recreational use or to solve the energy crisis, economic crisis what have you.  The issue really boils down to my personal freedom.  If I smoke bud I am less likely to be a violent person as opposed to drinking alcohol which has been legal because of the "fucked up" situation with prohibition.  Listen not to me but the experts on this subject.  We as a country spend trillions on this useless war on drugs which has not brought a decrease in usage but rather an increase in violence and drug use.  The war on drugs does not help our government control their use and abuse it helps to give power to drug dealers and the cartels which are the illegal pharmacuetical companies and just as corrupt. (hmmm.)

I personally don't believe in homosexual activities as they are not for me, but in the name of personal freedom, if done between consenting adults then by all means go and enjoy your liberty.  The same goes for bud.  Who the f..k cares what I do in peace and quiet when I do not infringe upon others freedoms?

I could go on and should, simply to try and keep sane, but I will stop for now and leave you with this,

Some of the very proponents of legalizing marijuana are those who were paid by our government to villify it and persecute those who use it in any one of its many uses  (i.e. former policemen, former DEA agents and big dady DEA leading agent of the 90's)  If this government who by the minute use this as an excuse to build an incredibly large police force daily and daily continues to infringe and blatantly subvert our freedoms as freethinking americans in whatever manner they see fit continues, the world that we will see will not be a far cry from that described in 1984 (George Orwell) or any of the other major dystopian novels of the 20th century.

In the name of personal freedoms legalize it, tax it to generate revenue ( similar to the 21st amendment) and regulate it.  Historically no government could regulate that which was illegal.

Peace
