Howdy Howdy all First of all I have GOT to update my photo! I no longer have an afro, as a matter of fact I havent had an afro for nearly 7 months I think...anyway. Oh and forgive the typos! Well I got a boat load of promos from the old salt mines and I have yet to listen to more than half of them. Now I have my stand by tunes that I listen to faithfully throughout the week. You know the ones that really compliment your moods depending on what those moods are. For instance in the shower I like a little something that I can sing along to. For a while it was Charlie Wilson's CD "Charlie, Last Name Wilson", now I love this CD! The whole CD y'all and I proved it every morning by crooning until I was a prune. Then I went back to Erykah Badu's "WorldWide Underground" until I came upon a worthy joint. And what do you know, in walked Al Green's new one "Lay It Down"! Oh my word! This CD is out of control with everything you love about old school Al and what you love about the neo-soul crowd. Anthony Hamilton sings the hook on Lay It Down and I wanted to do just that! Then there was the John Legend song and the Corrine Bailey Rae piece! I just wore that poor CD out. Well what do you think happened next? Well I'll tell you what happened next, a little lady with a big voice entered the scene and what can I say-- I was hooked. Duffy's "Rockferry" is in the process of rounding out my week for Bathroom tunes in addition to some standbys of course. Now when I am blogging or doing any emailing I like the world tunes. You know, a little Putamayo-Israel or even Putamayo-Cubano, of course Zap Mama's "SuperMoon" blew my mind when it hit as well! Okay now when I listen to a CD I listen to it constantly to get at all the nooks and crannies, unfortunatly, that means it takes me forever to get to my other CDs which means I cant write reviews for them, which I try to do in a timely fashion for a few e-zines and the company newsletter. Anyway I am just gonna post the song I am listening to right now and hope you all dig it too.

Howdy Howdy all! Well I am still alive after my long long shift and I have to work again tomorrow but only for 5 hours so no biggie, woo hoo!

 

Didnt have the best day, suprisingly it wasn't because of work, it was, of course, family. I spoke with my mother today and she was true to herself and made me feel like nothing..go mom, you never let me down.  Now I adore her but we are not terribly close per se. I am unmarried and childless (2 things that really ride her nerves apparently), I don't straighten my hair (this can be serious biz for your southern old schoolers, the sistahs know what I mean), I NEVER ask anyone for anything, EVER (this pisses them ALL off for some reason), they wrote me off years ago as a weirdo and a flake so I let that do and lived on my own terms. For these reasons and more I have had to do a lot of things on my own even though I have TONS of family. Kinda sucky but hey...I do the damn thang the way I want, when I want.

 

Huh, Well I guess I just needed to get some of that out, I don't get to unload a lot of stuff really and that felt pretty good so thanks...I know it wasn't really detailed but I am about to speak to a friend about it in depth, this was just a primer.

 

On a lighter note, I have started planning for my trip to Paris next year. Well it is a prelim prep actually. I am gonna pay off the traveling credit cards (not too tough since I rarely shop unless it is for BOOKS), then I have to start checking the internet for packages. The thing that  is gonna be a challenge is learning enough French to navigate by myself, eek! I took 2 years of French ages ago when I was getting my first degree and I have NOT kept it up, now my Spanish is a heck of a lot better! Hmm maybe I should go to Spain instead tee hee...naw FRANCE it IS, who's with me?  

 

How about some melancholy poetry, it is on point with what I feel right about now, but hey tomorrow is another day and I say BRING IT...here goes..

Wow. I had some entertainment last night. ME.

Last night, I was just talking to a few of my friends on AIM and google Talk, when I decided that I was going to listen to some music. Then, I decided that I'd turn on my Talk feature on AIM and my Call feature on google Talk, and let everyone I was talking to listen to what I was playing. They eventually got hooked, and started requesting songs. I obliged their requests when I could, and basically played the songs they wanted to hear, while taking a small couple of seconds between every few songs to say something meaningful (or not). It was entertaining, and it gave me something to do until 3AM when I got offline. :P

I'm actually in the process of setting up an audio stream, make things MUCH less complicated on my part, AND my friends. This means that ANYONE (even you!) can listen in on me being a cool guy. :D


On a personal note, things in the past hour or so have just gone from kinda bad to terribly worse. It's not something I wish to discuss here. Let's just say, lives are changing. Dramatically. A delicate situation has just been laid in my hands.
