Lightning @ MindSay

lightning
I see what appears to be lightning outside my window a lot.
I'm terrified of lightning.
I'll spend the next thirty minutes or so thinking of what it could have been.
Maybe a police car.
No, no sirens.
Maybe I caught the street light coming on in my peripheral vision.
No, it's 5:30 in the morning.
Perhaps it was just the headlights of someone speeding by.
Probably not.
It doesn't really matter. It's an irrational fear of mine. I have a lot of those.
Even when it does turn out to be lightning, I realize it's not so bad.
Things always seem so perfect in the past. I think that's part of the reason the future seems so terrifying.

In between living in the past and dreading the future, I take the present for granted.

I'm so afraid of dying, I'm depriving myself from living.

I wasn't always like this.

Wondering what it means.
I had a bizarre dream before I woke up today. (You can skip reading this if you want to go right to the pictures.) It took place at what looked like a mall combined with a school. There was a prom going on but all of the dresses & outfits the people were wearing were Halloween themed. (I did get some neat ideas for outfits to create)

I walked into the store and saw some neat clothes but didn't like the prices so I continued to browse. I stopped and took out a pencil and started drawing a line and at the end of the line the pencil had a mind of it's curving off to the side hitting a pendant.

A lady at the counter looked at me and claimed that pendant was choosing me. I picked it up and it was round pewter looking. On either side of the pendant it had intriguing designs very similar to these.

Each time I flipped the pendant in the air the design would change. I found it so amazing. It also began changing metals too. Bronze, copper and even silver it morphed at each flip. One of the symbols it showed me was actually a scene of two men sitting or even working on a log in front of a castle. They were one the bank of a river and it was clear that the castle was in the process of being repaired or just after a war and it was in disrepair.

The woman who originally showed the pendant told me that it was no longer for sale. She wanted it for herself and I told her that she couldn't do that considering she had to purchase it on her time. She conceded and handed it over while telling me it was $3.50. I went to pay but pulled out a dollar in the shape of a bat. I was saddened to see that this was all the money I had but lucky for me a friend of mine walked by and I asked to borrow the money from them.

So the pendant was purchased and I was excited to keep trying it out. I wanted to figure out what it was telling me and explained the process to a family member who was with me. An Indian fellow(not Native American) overheard me and wanted me to try it out on them. I didn't really want to but I gave in.

Walking over to a display of incense & salts I asked which of these would be best for him. I flipped it then hung it down so it could point like a pendulum. The sign of the Saggitarian(my sign) made an arrow to some sea salts mixed in with Jasper.

That's about it for my dream but I wanted to write it down before it was forgotten. I'm curious as to what it means because it was so detailed and gave a lot of information. Anyone want to take a stab at an interpretations?

As promised here are the pictures.

Another reflection of the Thai pagoda.

And one more where the water was being moved by the wind.

It's me!

Okay, well I should make something to eat or decide what to do for dinner. I'm hungry!

Storm
Tonight we had this really epic thunderstorm. It was right outside my window. My roommate and I turned off the lights, sat at our desks, and just watched it. At one point, two bolts of lightning somehow converged, maybe 50 yards away from our window. When they touched, there was a huge flash of light; I thought there'd been an explosion. The two bolts funneled down into one, maybe it hit the ground. I don't know because while all of this was happening, I was busy falling out of my chair and diving for cover behind my desk. And I'm not ashamed to admit that. Thunderstorms are really awesome. Awesome in the literal sense. Awe-inspiring. And scary, and humbling and they make me feel glad to be alive. But I also really enjoy them. I really enjoy looking at the radar and seeing a storm roll in and then watching it and feeling (relatively) safe inside. Then I feel guilty because storms cause harm and kill people and ruin lives and cities and nations and civilizations. So here we have a moral dilemma. How can I justify getting pleasure out of something that causes so much harm? And this is what I'm thinking about as Gustav gets closer...

Watch the skies.
Let us delve into another round of pictures. Josh and I decided to try to get some better pictures of the storm from various areas.

Some interesting things decided to show up...

Check out the face. Too neat!

There is a lot I like about this one but I have to "highlight" two parts of this photo.

One is just the lightning. I liked it. ;)

This is.. well.. I dunno. It's almost ghost like. There was no one there. Josh was directly behind me. There wasn't a tree there either. My only logical guess was that it's a light refraction on the lens but the other pictures I took of it only has one more that showed up. Plus, it looked different and more faint in the second time it showed up. This one I just leave in the "I dunno files".

This would have been much more awesome if the lightning showed up above the bridge. Perhaps next time?

I loved the colors!

Well, Azrael's vet appointment went swimmingly! The vet loved how well I've been taking care of him. She even agreed with me that it was clear he was on his way out before we got to him. He is a third of a pound and surprisingly he has put on weight since I got him on Saturday. She says he doesn't seem to have any parasites but we gave him some round of shots to clear up anything that isn't detected. He goes back in a month to get his next round of shots.

Here's hoping for the best for him. I know I will do all that I can.

Dragons in the sky.
Last night I was witness to the power of a sky dragon in the form of lightning. We had a two part storm that I had the chance to take some shots of. It's just too bad I wasn't out in the country to get a more clear view but I still managed to get some interesting shots. (Some of them I cropped so that the details would not be lost.)

Awww, it "hearts" me. :D

Peek A boo!

I contrasted the picture as best I could to give a visual on this bolt that struck down and shook the earth.

Methinks the lightning spirits liked my awe , wonder & excitement. I told them that I would be also showing them off if I got some good shots. That's probably how I got most of the best lightning was in the frame/shot! Haha!
