Life Goals @ MindSay
I am leaning towards maybe a career in the arts - maybe FX makeup, I'm not sure. I'm a pretty decent artist, have been since I was old enough to fucking walk and I think going into an art career would suit me. It'd be kick ass if I could get into the fucking Graphic Arts School in New York, but I'm suppose to be moving in with my boyfriend who lives in Canada, so I guess I'll have to settle with an art school there. So yeah, as for the bigger, more important goals, I need to get my GED, get my license, figure out what to do about moving, and get into a good college.
As for my other goals which aren't that important, I'd like to get a couple tattoos, maybe a piercing, get a part-time job, etc. I want to get a tattoo of the Umbrella Academy logo on the back of my neck and a circle with a line through it on my wrist - kind of as a reminder that I'm passed my self-harm stage. I definitely want to get more than just two tattoos - thanks to my Uncle who has sleeves and tattoos in various other places. Speaking of which, he's suppose to be in town this week (he lives in Ohio)... I wonder if he'd take me to get my first tattoo. I remember on my 18th birthday he called to see if I had gotten a tattoo yet and when I said that I hadn't, he offered to take me himself. lol He is such a cool guy.
Anyway, so I've got a plan, I'm heading in the right direction, lets just hope that I can keep my motivation high and that I don't steer off in some totally opposite direction. Wish me luck!

Is your FEAR more REAL than your GOALS?
An opinion piece by Jack Turnbull of actorsite.com
Because of the threat of labor actions this year and next,
many times we become paralyzed by the "fear" that our world
is coming to an end...
It's not, believe me. In fact, many in the industry believe
that this labor action will just be a blip on the screen of
the big picture.
A career is a MARATHON, not a dash, so it's important to
not let the FEARS that we have on a daily basis, affect
our long range GOALS.
Each day, when you wake up, are you GOAL driven or are
you FEAR driven...
BEING GOAL DRIVEN IS POSITIVE!
BEING FEAR DRIVEN IS NEGATIVE!
Do you get PARALYZED when it comes to pushing your
career forward?
Sometimes when you are driven by your
GOALS, you constantly visualize achieving those goals
and they are fresh in your mind and REAL and almost
touchable so that you constantly can push forward and move
and build and feel the progress every single day...
Then suddenly, because pursuing a creative career becomes
such a struggle and requires energy just to keep going, you
find that your FEAR overcomes your GOALS in your mind, so
that your FEAR is more REAL than your GOALS...which become
pushed to the side while you are PARALYZED by FEAR.
In my own personal situation, I have found this to happen
to me on a regular basis every few months and I have to
get up and push myself to PUT MY GOALS BACK INTO THE FRONT
OF MY MIND, so that the FEAR, which is there to protect
me, does not become more REAL than my GOALS.
Here's how you can get yourself back on track:
1. Sit down and list your goals. BE sure to include the changes
in your goals as you grow and learn and find new goals to explore.
2. Sit down and list your fears. Be sure to be honest with
yourself and open and up front as you list them. Don't pull
any punches.
3. Next, make a list of the ACTIONS you can take NOW that
will get you moving towards your goals. Make a list of
ACTIONS that you can take LATER, too.
4. Now, TAKE THOSE ACTIONS and gain confidence in yourself
as you move gradually towards your goals.
5. Then weigh and study the results. Did you move forward?
Are you inching your career forward? Are you no longer as
paralyzed by fear?
6. Now repeat the POSITIVE ACTIONS that will move you forward.
It's important to take at least ONE POSITIVE STEP, every single
day!
All the best,
Jack

I suppose we all have those things that distract us from the abundance of life, eh? My best friend's sister is dying of cancer that started in her breast and is now in her brain. Another friend find 2 of her 3 children (adult children) as herione junkies. With me, it's always been money ... financial situations. Everyone has some persistent difficulty in their life, yes?
When you think about the possibilities ... the many ways life can be screwed up, it's amazing any of us find some peace of mind. Likewise, these bodies of ours are so incredible, so magnificiently sewn together, yet it's nothing shy of a miracle that any of us are healthy.
Blessed is a state of mind, I think. I remember reading something ... someplace (sorry, but I don't remember where) that suggested when asked "how are you?", the best answer is now how you have been up to this moment, but how you wish to be in the moments to come. In other words,
"How are you?"
"Getting better every day!" or
"Better than 10 minutes ago!" or
"Inching closer to my goals!" or, as the husband of a dear friend always responds ...
"I'm Blessed!"
This kind of attitude adjustment is relatively easy, inexpensive, and ... accomplishes more than one might expect. It does NOT change your circumstances. It simply adjusts the focus of how you see those circumstances. I believe more strongly everyday, that we determine our path by the choices we make daily - even hourly. We are who and where we are because of our own past choices. That may come like a slap in the face to some as it did to me, because ... consequences can be a bear! It does not change the validity of the concept. Another way to say it is that we reap what we sow, or we get what we pay for. Life is NOT for Whimps ...
