Leisure @ MindSay

the day off
work is what you do for others.... art is what you do for yourself.

I took the day off. and read magazines and parts of a Biography of Charlotte Bronte and napped with Abster  upstairs on the chaise under the new umbrella....and gave myself a pedicure with real  rose color on my toes and then waxed my legs from the knee down (both veet and nim are great products). In between i managed to fold some laundry and plant carnation and gypsophilia seeds in the top deck planters. [having decided not to grow tomatoes this year]
and Bailey's Manual of Cultivated plants did not let me down. the amazing bush on the east side of the house is a Japanese quince: genus Chaeomeles. it's gorgeous and in full bloom right now.

Someone I respect suggest I read Obama's first book, which I did and i liked him even less afterwards. Of course I will vote for him if nominated... but Hill is still my girl. I might make scrambled eggs for dinner. this is a great lazy  day.

A day of leisure.

Well...  i've just finished Fab's first present! :D I hope she'll like it...

I also went to the fabric shop today, as i have many quilts to make... There are actually 2 that i need to finish... All i need to do on them, basically, is add the batting and close them... They have been almost done, forever... I guess i should finish them before i start on the other 3. But i wonder if i feel like finishing them tonight....

I've also been wanting to read... so...

Actually, i've started reading

Coriolanus, by Shakespeare,

A book on American History, which is quite interesting,

and... for leisure...

It is very good!

Leisure

A tension-free, relaxing afternoon of leisure: a young boy sitting on a branch of a tree. He is awaiting his standard seven examination result.

Lady Of Leisure

This week I've been somewhat a lady of leisure.  I normally watch my neighbor's little boy while my daughter is in school, but the my neighbors went skiing this week, so I've had massive amounts of free time.  Ok, not massive, but from 9 am to 3 pm I've been a free woman.   I've spent most of my morning hiking with my friend Stephanie.  It's been delightful.  The best part is yet to come, my best friend is coming to visit me tomorrow.  YAY!  So, don't be surprised if you don't see me around much for the next few days.  Beth and I have been friends 26 years!  She's an incredible woman and I love her dearly.  I've been trying to get her to join Mindsay, but she hasn't been receptive to the idea yet.  She's a writer at heart and I know she would love it.  If you can believe it she's even more sarcastic than me!  When I think back to when I first met her I was only 12 years old!  And, I hated her, lol!  She was only 9 and she hated me!  Obviously we got past our hatred of one another, and managed to form a friendship that has lasted all these years.  She has so much material to blackmail me with, that it isn't even funny.  Then again, I have quite a list on her as well.  Isn't that what great friendships are built on?  LOL!  So, be sure to check back later in the week and I'll fill you in on all our adventures.

Taking a rest!

I'm proud! I did manage to take a couple of hours of leisure last evening! I stopped working at around 10 pm and knit a little to finish that present for my dad! (it's not exactly finished yet.. but almost!)

I must say that i had worked hard the previous days and thus, by next week, i should manage to get ahead with preparing future lessons for my classes so that i'm not always in a rush preparing them, correcting tests and so on... Plus, i'll be able to  have more leisure instead of going to bed really late at night and being tired all the time... I suppose it is a question of time schedule.

The only thing is that i'll be in Paris on Saturday, and won't be able to sit and relax, whereas it is usually my "day off"... And i'll have to work on Sunday no matter what... Good thing i know that next week is not going to be as busy as the previous two!

And talking about leisure.... my painting lesson for tomorrow has been cancelled.... which means i haven't had the opportunity to paint for over a month... I need to do something about it!!!!

Oops... it's high time i went back to work! Man, I wish my job could be studying! I miss it so much!
