H.R.6257

Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008 (Introduced in House)

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c110:H.R.6257:

For those not in the know, an "assualt weapon" is not these weapons that the media makes so scary. An "assualt weapon" is a fully auto or select fire weapon, which is not obtained by a simple background check.

Paul wants to abolish Federal Reserve

From www.prisonplanet.com:

On Friday, Rep. Paul introduced H.R. 2755 To abolish the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Federal reserve banks, to repeal the Federal Reserve Act, and for other purposes. The text of this bill is not yet available on-line but Rep. Paul introduced a similiar bill back in July of 2003 which never even made it into committee.

Stem Cells

A few blogs ago I did a piece on stem cell research.  Following is an article from Focus on the Family regarding this topic.  Also to watch a short video on the topic go to: www.citizenlink.org/stoplight/index.cfm

Umbilical Cord Blood a Valuable Source of Treatments by Wendy Cloyd, assistant editor While Congress debates life-destroying embryonic stem-cell research, adult stem cells offer therapies. The effort to establish a national umbilical cord-blood bank is ramping up. As the U.S. House is debating legislation that would destroy human embryos for their stem cells, noncontroversial adult stem cells continue to produce treatments for disease. Umbilical cord blood is a rich source of stem cells that does not require the destruction of life. Collected at birth, cord blood can be designated for public banks or stored for private use. Personal Storage Families can choose to store their baby's cord blood as a precaution for future illness. Personal storage is especially recommended when a family member has a disease known to be treatable through bone-marrow transplantation -- such as leukemia. Public Banks According to the National Marrow Donor Program, cord-blood banks collect, process, test and store donated umbilical cord blood -- frozen as a unit available to transplant. When a donor match is found, the cord-blood stem cells can be used to treat the existing condition. Carrie Gordon Earll, senior analyst for bioethics at Focus on the Family Action, explained that more than 70 illnesses and diseases can be treated using adult stem cells. "Public banks make the resource available to everyone," she said. "Parents pay no fees for donating cord blood to a public bank, but some pre-donation arrangements are required. So they should talk to hospital officials where they plan to give birth." Some states are proactively developing such "life-affirming donation" systems, Earll added. "For instance, Georgia recently passed a law establishing a statewide donation system," she said. "Under the new law, pregnant women will be asked if they want to donate to the cord-blood bank when they give birth." The federal government should watch and learn, Earll said. "Stem cells from umbilical cord blood have proven to be a source of healing for many Americans," she said. "The promotion and development of such resources is a wise use of our tax dollars and efforts. It's a win-win for everyone involved." Meanwhile, the U.S. House is poised to vote on legislation that would use federal tax dollars to destroy human life under the guise of "lifesaving" research. Ashley Horne, federal issues analyst for Focus on the Family Action, pointed out that the president has indicated he would veto the legislation. It passed the Senate, but fell short of the votes needed to override a veto. "The resurrection of S. 5 is a political maneuver by the Democrats to draw attention to a dead issue," she said. "Adult stem cells trump embryonic stem cells every time."

Freedom of Choice Act

I have been hammering on H.R. 1592 that would give to Left Wing bureaucrats and authorities to intimidate or jail Christians for Free Speech; i.e. if the House Bill went through the Senate and found the President’s desk.

The President has promised to veto any such legislation.

Thanks to a friend forwarding an e-newsletter from Jay Sekulow’s American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ), I have discovered the Lefties in Congress have proposed legislation to undermine the Supreme Court’s judicial decision that eliminates partial birth abortion. The legislation is called the Freedom of Choice Act.

“Freedom of Choice” is Pro-Choice feminist double-speak for murdering babies in a woman’s womb. Pro-Choicers have desensitized themselves by adopting medical terms for babies that have not been born with the word “fetus.”

The word “fetus” gives anti-Christian moralists the mindset that an unborn baby is merely an internal organ like the heart or the brain.

Jay Sekulow reports that the President of the United States has assured him he would veto such legislation if it (also) came by his desk.

Here is the ACLJ petition that is adding power to the voice of the Right. SIGN IT!

Quick NAU Post

On April 18, 2007, the Montana Senate passed H.J.R. 25, a bill that opposes the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP), the developing North American Union (NAU) and the NAFTA Superhighway. The final vote was an overwhelming 32-18.

Montana is the second state to have passed, in both houses, a resolution opposing the SPP/NAU agenda. The first state to take a clear stand against the agreement was in Idaho with the passage of H.J.M. 5 in both the House and Senate. The Utah legislature passed a similar resolution in the House, but the Senate let the bill die by refusing to vote on the resolution prior end of the congressional session.
