Lebron James @ MindSay

Lebron James, The Media, and Black Stereotypes

NBA superstar LeBron James is set to become the first African American to grace the cover of Vogue in April, sharing it with model Gisele Bundchen. However, the photo that will be used is stirring up controversy, as some are arguing that it perpetuates stereotypes, with James striking an angry pose that “some have likened to "King Kong" and Fay Wray,” according to the AP’s report.

The picture is above for you to judge – is it perpetuating a stereotype, or are we becoming overly sensitive to race issues?

The good, the bad and the ugly.

A meaningless post about absolutely nothing.

The Good

First, a heartwarming story for all you softies. You may not have heard of Mike Coolbaugh. He was a first base coach for a minor league team. He was killed earlier this year when he was hit with a line drive. His wife was pregnant with the couple's third child at the time.

The players from the Colorado Rockies voted to give his widow a full share of the team's playoff earnings. Just goes to show that not all professional athletes are selfish douchebags.

The Bad

Travis Henry of the Denver Broncos is facing a year suspension from the NFL. He was busted for marijuana...again. That's bad news for Henry and the Broncos because he was leading the league in rushing. It seems he has a history of bad decisions. I have recently learned that he has 9 illegitimate children with 9 different women.

I guess I'd be smoking dope too if I had to pay those bills.

The Ugly

The New York Yankees got blasted 12-3 yesterday by the Cleveland Indians. The news was not all good for Indians fans however. Cleveland Cavs star LeBron James was in the crowd being interviewed. He was wearing a Yankee hat. Cleveland fans were livid. It turns out that he is a huge frontrunner. He told a reporter that he was also a Dallas Cowboys fan.

How does an Ohio kid grow up to be a Yankee and Cowboy fan?

LeBron Has More Magic Than Wizards

LeBron James's triple-double helped the Cavs beat the Wizards in the first game of the playoffs.  It was a strong performance, and if it's any indication of things to come, the Wizards should be worried.

Freakishly Good

Ok, think about this for a second. Lebron James is one of the best guys to ever play the game of basketball (he had a triple double last night).

And he can't even legally drink yet (his birthday is 12/30/84).
