An off-duty Los Angeles police officer who was paralyzed after his young son accidentally shot him in 2006 filed a lawsuit Wednesday against the manufacturer of the gun involved in the accident.
Enrique Chavez of Anaheim was shot in the back by his 3-year-old son after the boy grabbed his father's Glock 21 — a .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol — from the back seat of his pickup truck.
The lawsuit, filed in Superior Court, alleges that Glock Inc.'s gun was dangerous because its safety device was "non-existent or ineffective" at preventing an accidental shot.
Chavez, 35, is also suing the manufacturer of the gun's holster and the retail stores that sold him the gun and the holster. He bought the gun at the Los Angeles Police Revolver and Athletic Club and purchased a holster made by Uncle Mike's and Bushnell Outdoor Products from Turner's Outdoorsman.
The lawsuit alleges the defendants knew the safety device was defective and that 5.5 pounds of pressure on the trigger frequently results in accidental discharges.
The lawsuit alleges product liability, breach of warranty and loss of consortium, and seeks general, special and punitive damages, and attorneys fees.

Every year about this time, the American Civil Liberties Union and others threaten to bring lawsuits against any school that allows students to share their faith or pray at graduation. The Liberty Counsel has launched the Friend or Foe campaign to help students and faculty recognize their rights and responsibilities. “The campaign is designed to educate and, if necessary, to litigate to make sure that prayer and religious viewpoints are not censored," said Mat Staver, founder of Liberty Counsel. The ground rules are simple: Any prayer that is student-initiated and student-led is perfectly legal. Bruce Hausknecht, judicial analyst for Focus on the Family Action, said every case that goes through the courts only adds to the confusion. No matter how much pain they have caused another person and their family, they will not ever admit they set out to hurt them.
Any apology you may receive from them is only under pressure and another form of manipulation. It is used only as a recourse if needed.
How do I know this you ask? ... Their actions reveal the truth.
Like so many of the victim's stories posted here and on other sites, we see that it is common for the abuser to continue to traumatize the victim.
They will file false charges and frivolous lawsuits in an attempt to discredit the person who has told the truth about them.
So how do you know if the person who came forward to tell their story is telling the truth? Because the victims expose themselves and the fact that they were naive and in telling their story they will be ridiculed and lied about. They take a brave stand to get the truth out and help others.
It is not wrong to hold them accountable for destroying innocent lives. The repercussions of the destruction they reap on others can become very serious.

Help support this family as they go through a very difficult time seeking justice for the crime committed against their daughter.
Once exposed, the victimizer has to realize that their secret is out. Their tactics and schemes are revealed. The only place left for them to hide and save face is in their lies. If they can manage to discredit the one who found them out and told the truth, then they can gain some self respect back.
Filing false charges is a way they try to gain this control back. They will spend thousands of dollars to try to fight the truth.
HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE.
As if it wasn't bad enough, a widow loses her husband in the September 11 attacks. The attorney she hires decides to take sue her for a $2,000,000 contingency fee. Now, contingency fees by attorneys representing families were disfavored concerning the September 11th Victims Compensation Fund. Unfortunately, this lawyer decided he was going to make some money off a very tragic situation. Seriously, this attorney was not thinking. Would you want to get a bad rep for being an opportunist? Taking advantage of someone that is grieving is just unbelievable.
I wonder how much money the widow was getting for the attorney to think that such an exorbitent fee was appropriate. Even if it was a large sum, I don't think it was right. People did so much for others at that tragic time in history...for FREE. Why would someone seek a lawsuit for a contingency fee?
Anyway, the widow sought representation from simmons jannace & stagg and the final outcome was that the federal courts would not see the case. It was decided it was a state court issue. At least it was not found in favor of the greedy attorney. I'll keep you posted as to the outcome of the state court.
Okay... so... mm... where should I begin? Let's start with my little sister...
she's very different from me. She wears padded shirts and padded bras to ensure that she looks like a C-cup... she wears really tight clothes to church and has a boyfriend that goes to college... you know, that's fine with me. Except you know... I don't mean to jump to conclusions but I'm pretty sure she spent the night at his place once... :\ but you know? I will let that past, too... because there's bigger issues here... let's say... oh, I don't know... MY LIFE! She's sick, right? So, she hasn't been to school in awhile and yet... she still has this "I can throw an attitude and do whatever the shit I want..." and so my mom lets her go out with friends, but do *I* get to do anything? No? Yeah... I work my ass off, get STRAIGHT A'S and then I wake up from a nice nap when my mom is telling me I gotta go to Wal-Mart to pick up my little sister. So... I do... except five minutes into the trip (I'm coming from Houston to Silverlake), I realize, my mom had forgotten to fill up the tank... and so I was driving on empty... and so I turned off the air conditioner and everything and I put my car into neutral a lot... to ensure that I would get there... and I was SO incredibly scared that I wasn't... so I parked right next to the gas station (except, I didn't see a way from the parking lot to the station so I ended up actually having to make a circle, I'm such a stupid idiot).... well... THEY thought they were at the right Wal-Mart so I sat there for half an hour in the heat in my pjs and then they pull up behind my car... so I'm like, okay, finally, good, and I'm thinking "oh, gosh, I really hope this car starts because I want to get home ASAP before my mom thinks I've run off somewhere" so it does start, and as I was flipping the station (sorry, gotta have my music), my little sister is stepping in the car and then I hear a car REVVING, I look up to see her boyfriend's Honda Civic, (black with plate number 604 BMX) coming STRAIGHT at me. A second before they were going to head-on collide into my car, he slams on the brakes with this gigantic grin on his face, flicks me off, (and my sister SEES that and asks me "what did you do?!") and it seems as if he drove away... so I pull out... then I see him behind me!!! So... I was lucky that the gas station was nearby and it was overcrowded with people...
...so... yeah... if he thought that was funny... I believe him to be totally sick and out of his mind and I think he might be suicidal because you know what? NOW, I'm pissed... never again will she get to hang out with ANYONE who happens to drive a Honda Civic... they have NO respect enough to come inside the house and ask for her, they sit there revving their engines and honking the horn for her to come out? Oh, HELL no. That is disrespectful to not only our family, but to her especially. I can't believe she follows this asshole but you know what? I got his bitch-ass. He messed with the wrong fucking girl.
Oh... oh... so, yeah, let's see... this bitch ass calls my sister and now she's giving him my number, right? And so I talk to him and he's like... "are you going to do something to my friend's car?" and I'm like "why? Are you scared?" and he's like "no... but I thought it was fucking rude what you did" and I was like "oh? You were offended by a finger? Because seeing as how you flipped me off later, I figured it would be FAIR, but that crazy shit you pulled... was NOT funny." So, he was like... I don't know, we were arguing about that but yeah... I was right, he was homicidal and he claimed to "not have done anything" which is bull-fucking-shit, I'm pissed and I told him that I got his bitch-ass and hung up and so now here I am...
