Lane @ MindSay
<CHAPTER ONE>
The large blue rug that my uncle Sam gave me for my 12th birthday became my own little fortress for the whole summer. It was where I felt the safest of all; on my magic rug. Much like the one that Aladdin had. Once I laid down on it, the world around me disappeared. I was no longer apart of that world; the one that she lived in.
For some reason I felt that it might be better that way. For us to live on two completely different worlds. As long as her and I lived on the same planet, we would be connected somehow, some way. Even though she had cut all ties between us, there was that lone string that refused to let go. The string that would keep us connected for the rest of our lives.
So that's why I remained on the large blue rug that my uncle Sam gave me for my 12th birthday. It took me away. I didn't belong to her and she didn't belong to me. The string was cut.
Each day of summer was exactly the same. I had it planned to the very minute. Which is something that I take pride in, thank you very much! My ability to make plans and keep them. It is a skill that some may call "useless" and "a waste of time" and many other things my older brother Tim would call it, but I thought that it was actually quite cool.
My day would start by getting up at exactly 9:36 AM, taking a 13 minute shower, getting ready in 3 minutes, and laying down on the large blue rug that my uncle Sam gave me for my 12th birthday, iPod in hand, at exactly 10:01 AM. For the rest of the day that is where I stayed, taking the occasional break to grab a few snacks and a water. That was it. For exactly 61 days, 54 minutes, 32 seconds. Until my paradise of junk food on Penny Lane with The Beatles, and laziness on the large blue rug that my uncle Sam gave me for my 12th birthday was interrupted by one sudden knock on my bedroom door..... TO BE CONTINUED.

Hahahahaha. Well. This brain of mine has to get some rest. I haven't come up with a name for this guy yet. Still thinking about it. Anyways. More to come later!
Adios!
My neighbor (one of them) down the road to the west was out grading his lane and mowing the side of his lane. Nothing unusual about that right? Wrong! He was wearing his County Sheriff's badge on the outside of his workshirt and had a red light (those flashing kind that vol. folks use in rural areas for their pick up trucks and cars) down by his feet!
I burst out laughing my ass off and about sideswipped the guard rail right before I got to the top of his lane where he was waiting for me to go by so he could turn around! What made this so funny was the fact the tractor he was using to grade his lane and mow the side of his lane is such an antique thing that there was NO WAY in this wide universe he was going to catch me or anyone else with his tractor if he was going to try it! But he just had to have that red light ready to put on top of the tractor engine cover!
What was he going to do, slap that red light up top, slap that tractor in high (maybe 10 mph) and go after Thumpers brother for munching on his grass clippings!
My Gods we have a true blue Redneck for our County Sheriff and he is one of my neighbor's to boot! Goddess help me!
I was sitting upstairs on the comp a little while ago and decieded it was 9 o'clock or so and I was getting the kids out of the hosue for a while!
They dont' have school today because they go to Catholic School and it is the Holy Day of Immaculant Conception of Mary! Yes I already got a phone call from Sister Frances (the one I made cry earlier this year)! See I didn't point anythign out to the kids and DeLaney figured somethign out on her own and went straight to Sister Frances and got really upset that Sister Frances didn't answer her!
DeLaney: Sister Frances? We have Friday off because Mary got pregnant with Jesus right?
Sister Frances: Yes, DeLaney.
DeLaney: Okay so if a woman is pregnant 9 months, then Jesus's birthday isn't in December or did she preform some magic and have him in less then 3 weeks after getting pregnant?
Sister Frances: Not now DeLaney will talk about it later!
Then I got a phone call:D I was laughing so hard. Leave it to my lil Pagan kids to fluster a Sister! I asked if she has an answer prepared for DeLaney and she didn't. I strongly suggested that she get one prepared for the next time she sees DeLaney and that I wanted to hear the response before she gave it to DeLaney. Father Mike called a little later and was laughign just as hard as I was. Explaining that he would be the one explainign things to DeLaney and that he would make sure that he ran things by me first before he said anything! I said you might as well pull Coltin in on your explanation cause he would be wondering also!
My toes are cold because I had the kids bundle up in snow pants and such to go outside for a morning of sledding and snow boarding. I was also debating if I started the van up and ice skate up my lane to see if I could make it up the hill. I still have to call my dad to see if he can pick me up to go get my truck from the mechanics! While we were getting ready to go outside my Uncle Gene showed up with a tractor and loader to clean out the drive and lane! Yay!
I will still have to ice skate up the hill he said but now I dont' have to worry about breaking through snow drifts on top of it! My Uncle Gene was laughign his ass off at what I was wearing out in the snow and cold though!
I have a black tshirt on that the sleeves are ripped off of (old basketball practice shirt), a pair of black sports shorts, a pair of softball socks that are white with black stripped, and a pair of chucks! And since I was outside I had a black butt and hip covering sweater on! My toes are cold now! While I was snappign pictures of the kids going down the hill and Uncle Gene climibing down and off the tracotr to come chitter he snapped a picture of me and my outfit on his camara phone! Said it was too goofy sexy to pass up not to email to Randy! I informed him Randy already saw my get up cause this is what I had on yesterday and used as night clothes! He started laughign when I said DeLaney snapped a picture and had me email it. He goes well this time you are in a sweater also with chucks he'll really appreciate it!
I am having my knee surgery before Christmas and come to find out my Uncle is having one of his knees replaced after Christmas! We are going to be gimps together! Plus we are going to go gang up on my dad about getting his knees replaced after his Guillium Barrers Syndrome is completely cleared up and his back is operated and healed up from!
But I strongly suggest if you go out in the cold and snow to at least have tennies on and not chucks! my toes are cold and sore now!
Well we got hit with a ice storm over this weekend. They promised us the snow also but all the east coast got that and up north. Thankfully it wasn't that bad of an ice storm.
But please notice the pure ice lane and drive that I have to drive on a daily baises! What fun! If you don't have a front wheel drive or all wheell drive vechile you might not make it up the lane! And make sure you have a good run with jsut the right speed or you end up in the ditch!
Plus there are a few pictures of the ice on the trees!
Mother Nature needs to hide the Viagra from Ol Man Winter! Enough already! Take a longer cig break you two!!! You don't need to make up every single inch of snow that the midwest/west/south states have missed out on earlier this year in snow, rain, ice, and sleet!
It wouldn't be so bad having an occasional winter weather advisory but when your only going a day at the most between them it is getting bad! Monday, I barely made it to work because my lil truck kept getting stuck at the top of our drive due to the lane being covered in ice! Just because my cousin Brian came and dug the snow out doesn't mean he took the ice with him! I got to work though, after 30 minutes of Randy and I taking turns pushing the truck up the final crest of the hill on the drive. The roads were still a bit slick but okay going. After work, I took my time because the roads were still slick and went to my parents house down the road from my house to pick up the kids. And promptly got stuck in their drive! The temps were in the 30 and melted some of the snow and ice and left a snowy muddy mess! Between my parents and I, it took us about 45 minutes of pushing, pulling with my dad's truck, and rocking my lil truck to get it un stuck and pushed up their drive to sit at the top while we ate dinner and then made our way home! Where I promptly parked in my Uncle's drive so I could get to work on Tuesday!
Tuesday, no problems! The weather was nice and the weather folks were only hinting at a possible storm coming our way. After work is when my problems started! My truck wouldn't start! Hubby works across the city in IA down by the airport, my parents outside the town we live in (about a 45 minute drive in good weather), and my cousin who works at Gateway was already up and out to make it to his Band's rehersal! A co worker tried helping me get my truck started (single dad and had already left his girls home for the day by theirselves due to late school start-ages 15 and 8). We ruled out alternator thank Gods! But it could have been the battery, the starter, or a cable/connector of sorts. Got a hold of my mom and said come get me, called Randy and he said no worries we have had the truck for 12 years and this is the first problem it has given us.
Wensday, got to work an hour late due to fixing my truck! Thank Gods it was only the battery connectors needing replaced! And then all of us in training, on the floor, and in the bays started watching the weather. We were in a Winter Storm Advisory and by the time we left work we were in an offical Blizzard Advisory. Guess who didn't go to work today? :D
Thursday, today, I took one look outside and said fuck this shit! I don't care if I could get my truck up the drive, I am not risking my life to go to work when every weather person on all four channels, state patrols in SD, IA, and NE were saying if you go to work on Thursday be prepared to stay there till Friday afternoon at the latest! And they started closing down interstate and hiways! I called in. Randy made it home last night about an hour and half late because he took his time coming home and this morning he said the same thing. Fuck this shit! I don't care if it is only my 4th day on the job I am not driving in this shit and getting stuck there over night! My mom who only works 15 minutes away in the next town said the same thing. Of couse the kids are home from school today, schools across the three states are closed for the day, the idiotic ones are trying 2 hour late starts and already they are calling parents and putting it out on the news that they decided to close after all!
Across the midwest and midsouthern states, there is snow (blizzard), rain, flooding, and even tornado warnings, watches, and advisories! Yes you read that correctly! Tornadoes! They started out in parts of OK, KS, and MO last night and early this morning the southern part of NE has spotted a few tornadoes!
So since Mother Nature is feeding Ol Man Winter the Viagra, grab yourself some protection folks! We are in for a doozy of a storm system!
