I wanted to announce this as a fait accompli, but getting answers from the Powers That Be is always slow.
This is one of my current attempts at fundraising for labsnabys Avon Breast Cancer Walk.
My proposal is that the company I work for would sponsor a “Blue Jeans for Breast Cancer” drive. Everyone would be allowed to wear blue jeans, if they donate a specified amount to the cause, probably $1 each. Could be a one day event, hopefully it will be a day every week. They donate, and receive a sticker or pin identifying them as a participant-, which also helps raise awareness.
Hopefully, the company matches all donations.
Everyone here complains about never being allowed to wear jeans, I know at least 75% of us would pay a buck in a heartbeat to do so, even if it wasn’t going to a charitable cause. This way, everyone wins!
But, trying to get an answer from the PTB takes forever. So I decided to go ahead and share the idea, in case anyone here would like to try it at his or her place of employment.
However you can help, please visit her fundraising site. Keep track of the progress at knapsacksofhope . Help raise awareness for this very worthy cause. Cheer her on, so she can represent our community with pride.
Hundreds of thousands of men and women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in this country alone. The Avon Walk foundation helps medically under-served people have access to the care they need, as well as funding vital research.
Please find it in your heart to offer whatever support you can.
