The Vacation Entry (Part 4 - With Pictures!)

Well, as promised, here are a few pictures from the Keith Urban concert the other night.  This first one is a fairly close one:

A wider shot, just to give a little bit better scope of the crowd (there were actually a LOT more people there than you can see even in this one).

One of the different things about being here in North Dakota is that it gets dark really late, so when the show ended at 10, it was still light.  Kind of put the breaks on their fancy LED light displays.  This one shows a little bit more, though... it got a little bit darker towards the end.

And just for good measure... here's one of me coming into the dock on the jet ski that I mentioned in the last entry:

In other news... today was a rather long and not very fun day.  I had a couple of phone calls that I didn't want to have, but were necessary nonetheless.  I won't say I'm feeling much better about the whole situation, but I do have a better understanding of some things now.  And I won't say I'm happy about it all, but I'm a little more confident that it was in fact the right thing.  Even so, it hurts, and I know it will continue to.  In closing tonight, lyrics to one of the songs that Keith Urban sang at the concert the other night (it just so happens that this was already my favorite song of his, but that has definitely been solidified now).

"You'll Think of Me"

Keith Urban

I woke up early this morning around 4am
With the moon shining bright as headlights on the interstate
I pulled the covers over my head and tried to catch some sleep
But thoughts of us kept keeping me awake
Ever since you found yourself in someone else's arms
I've been tryin' my best to get along
But that's OK
There's nothing left to say, but

Take your records, take your freedom
Take your memories I don't need'em
Take your space and take your reasons
But you'll think of me
And take your cap and leave my sweater
'Cause we have nothing left to weather
In fact I'll feel a whole lot better
But you'll think of me, you'll think of me

I went out driving trying to clear my head
I tried to sweep out all the ruins that my emotions left
I guess I'm feeling just a little tired of this
And all the baggage that seems to still exist
It seems the only blessing I have left to my name
Is not knowing what we could have been
What we should have been
So

Take your records, take your freedom
Take your memories I don't need'em
Take your space and take your reasons
But you'll think of me
And take your cap and leave my sweater
'Cause we have nothing left to weather
In fact I'll feel a whole lot better
But you'll think of me

Someday I'm gonna run across your mind
Don't worry, I'll be fine
I'm gonna be alright
While you're sleeping with your pride
Wishing I could hold you tight
I'll be over you
And on with my life

The Vacation Entry (Part 2)
Keith Urban is an amazing musician.  It's just the way it is.  And, even better, he surround himself with a band of equally talented, amazing musicians.  Tonight was one of the best concerts I've ever been to.  Good way to spend a Friday night (too bad that several of the songs made me think about things I would rather not have been thinking about tonight).  More tomorrow (maybe some pictures!).

The Vacation Entry (Part 1)

Our vacation is off to a pretty good start.  We've been here for almost three days now, which is hard to believe.  We've been spending time with old friends, going to all of our favorite places to eat, etc.  Today we will be spending time at the North Dakota State Fair (which is much cooler than it might sound to you) and then tonight we are going back to the fair to see Keith Urban (which I am excited about, because he is extremely talented).  Saturday we are going to a cabin on Lake Metigoshe to jet ski and hang out, so that should be fun.

Last night was hard.  I miss her a lot.  A lot of me would like to think I understand the reasons why everything happened the way it did, but there's also a large piece of me that is completely and utterly confused right now.  Fortunately, I have good friends who are there for me, and a God that loves me no matter what.  Even so, there's still a long way to go.

Where The Blacktop Ends
I'm gonna kick off my shoes and run in bare feet
Where the grass and the dirt and the gravel all meet
Goin' back to the well, gonna visit old friends
And feed my soul where the blacktop ends

I'm lookin' down the barrel of Friday night
And ridin' on a river of freeway lights
Goodbye city, I'm country-bound
'til Monday rolls around

Gonna kick off my shoes and run in bare feet
Where the grass and the dirt and the gravel all meet
Going back to the well, gonna visit old friends
And feed my soul where the blacktop ends

Workin' in the grind is an uphill road
Punchin' that clock, and carryin' that load
I bust it all week, and then I'm free
The weekend belongs to me

I'm gonna kick off my shoes and run in bare feet
Where the grass and the dirt and the gravel all meet
Going back to the well, gonna visit old friends
And feed my soul where the blacktop ends

So come on,
Give me some fresh air, give me that farm
Give me some time with you in my arms
Far away from the hustle and the pressure and the noise

Gonna kick off my shoes and run in bare feet
Where the grass and the dirt and the gravel all meet
Going back to the well, gonna visit old friends
And feed my soul, you betcha

Gonna kick off my shoes and run in bare feet
Where the grass and the dirt and the gravel all meet
Going back to the well, gonna visit old friends
And feed my soul, where the blacktop ends

Where the blacktop ends
Where the blacktop ends
Where the blacktop ends

CMA AWARDS

So the CMA's were amazing this year.

They tend to always be.

So much talent.

Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flats, Derks Bently, Joe Nichols, Big N Rich, Little Big Town, Sugarland, Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, Brooks and Dunn, Gary Allan, Trace Adkins, Miranda Lambert, Hulie Roberts, Montgomery Gentry, The Warren Brothers, Alabama, Lonestar, George Straight, Sara Evans, Martina McBride, Gretchen Wilson.

I'm sure I missed quite a bunch, sorry.

All were amazing.

The ones who performed that is.

The rest however, are still phenominal artists.

Hosted by Reba, the CMA's also include the Humanitarian of the Year.

Such a sweetheart.

That Honky Tonk, Ba-Donk A Donk.
