Cruise 2009
We are about to arrive at Port Everglades. We are heading out on a Caribbean cruise. It's another Confederate Railroad Band Cruise. We are going with Tracy's daughter, (Brittany) her mom, (Sue) and our friends Sandy and Shyla. We are going to San Juan, St. Thomas, Dominican Republic, and Nassau, Bahamas. Hope to post some blogs and pictures when we get back.

So here's my new thought

I watched "About A Boy" a while back, and I've been thinking about it a lot lately. In the end, Marcus, one of the main charectors whose third person monologue is heard throughout the film, discusses his relationships and the state of the world today. He says "I belive couples aren't the future, but rather large groups of people". And I've been thinking about it, and I'm starting to agree. Hugh Grant's charector also reiterates the idea by saying that man is not an island, but rather a series of island chains. And I was thinking, even if you and I can't be together, I still want you in my life. I invite you, to my island chain. Because I need you behind me as my friend. I'm sorry I fell so fast, you really do mean a lot to me. Sound alright?

Malaysia, Truly Asia
In Malaysia's tourism advertisements, the country is touted as being "truly Asia," representing various cultures of Asia within one country. I've already mentioned the diversity and multi-culturalism that makes Malaysia so interesting. Unfortunately, as I browsed through my holiday photos, I realize that they do not really give a good overview of the people or the architecture that I liked so much. I think I was too busy melting in the heat to take pictures. Or it could have been the torrential downpours that left me doing this:
KL Downpour
instead of taking photos!

Anyway, here are the photos I like the best of the ones I took:

The beautiful Petronas Towers, no longer the tallest buildings in the world, but still very interesting architecture. They are 5 sided, representing the 5 pillars of Islam.

One line of the Kuala Lumpur transit system. A way to avoid the rain and heat! These stations may look familiar if you have seen the movie "Entrapment."
Kuala Lumpur Monorail

In KL we explored Chinatown, looking for shopping bargains. Instead, we sat in this food court, drank Tiger beers and waited for a break in the rain.

After KL, we visited Langkawi Island. The first night we stayed in a nice beach chalet, the second in a more economical hostel. One of the places we visited is 7 Wells, natural pools formed by a river.

Here is a photo of some interesting architecture found around Melaka, in the Southwest of Malaysia.

Our last destination was Tioman Island - a practically deserted island dream!

Nipah Village is only accessible via the water, there are no roads. It was quiet, peaceful and relaxing. There is excellent snorkeling off in both directions, as well as great food. More of a shack than a resort, but what more do you need when you are already in a natural paradise? I wish I had photos of the underwater life. Snorkeling there is like jumping into the aquariums at Seaworld. Utterly incredible. The seabed is alive with all kinds of coral, thousands of colorful tropical fish and even reef sharks. Nemo? Found him, and all of his brothers and sisters, too. I've never seen anything like it.

The hammock where I spent most of my time - occupied by DH, and the view upwards that lulled me to sleep many an afternoon! (Falling coconuts the only danger!)

If you ever find yourself in want of a holiday in an interesting and exotic locale, why not choose Malaysia? It is, as they say, Truly Asia.
(Corny enough for ya?)

Cruise

The ship in the picture above is the "Legacy", a clipper of the Windjammer fleet, on which my mom and I sailed through the Virgin Islands a few weeks ago.  I loved being on that ship.  I woke up early each morning and loved to go up and sit on deck with a cup of tea.  I spent a lot of time just leaning on the rail, looking out over the water and thinking "I get to be alive and to see such things."  There was such beauty down there.  I've never seen so many shades of blue.  I had such a good time, being out in the air, running around barefoot, being windswept and makeup free.  I would do such a vacation again in a heartbeat except one week was too short.  And coming back to Canadian weather was depressing.  I'm disinclined to do a regular "carnival" type cruise now.  Not after wooden decks and sails and no shoes.  A clipper is definately the way to go.

UpDaTiOn

i haven't updated in a while, guess my life has been a bit busy. Right now im on holidays but it really doesnt seem like it. the formal on friday was really cool, i quite enjoyed it, will atatch photos as soon as i learn how. everyone looked quite spectacular and acted very adult like. Like a passage into the adult world.

I did my best to stand out by wearing a red shirt and colouring my hair read but alas, two, thats right not one but two others had exactly the same shirt as me...

*sigh*

on another note i have precisely 19 days of school left in my entire life! im sorta getting over my scaredness and looking foward to finishing. i need to think up something for muckup day though. hmmmm.... and suggestions?

after school i am looking to get a job for the summer and buy some stuff namely:

a new mobile phone as my 3315 is getting sluggish

an mp3 player cos my CD player skips too much when i walk,

clothes cos they're good

etc....

but i've learnt not to dwell too much on material possessions cos the more i have the more i want.

on another note i recieved a letter from Robert Gafutu from the solomon Islands. i went there in april; last year and we became quite close but i lost contact with him. it was really great getting a letter from him cos i most certainly had not forgotten him. maybe one day in the future i can go back there and visit him. that would be great.

Thats all from me for now... my internet runs out in 30 min so i might not post for a couple of days

later all, peace and prosperity
