Irish Dance @ MindSay
Blah. I'm at college right now, my English professor has been sick these past two classes (Monday and today), so class is cancelled. Too bad we couldnt know that before we wake up early and rush to class. Blah.
Okay- I know I havent written in a while, but...hmmm.... what's going on? Well, we have another competition this Saturday. It's at Statesboro and there are like 9 4A bands we have to compete against, not to mention the bands in and below our own class. I'm kinda not really excited at all. Like, I hope we do well, but I dont really expect us to? Hmm. Anyway, we have an away game at BC this Friday and it's their homecoming, but we're doing everything for it (pregame, national anthem, music for the homecoming queen at halftime). This guy Brent that Kayla has been telling me about forever, so I already feel like I know him, is going to be there. Yay!
Lately, I've been having a really hard time at dance class. With all the time that I devote to band and school, I don't have much time or energy left to practice or... y'know... go to class. Heh. I tried really hard this past week to get some practice time in and it payed off. At class yesterday, I was finally complimented by Abby (my teacher) and she corrected some things, but without the usual depreciating attitude she has. Hopefully this will continue again today at class. We get to dress up in our wigs and dresses and all for a class photo today at 5:30, then I'm going to go to the bookstore since my class isnt until 7pm. =D
Oh! In a few weeks, this Irish dance guy named Michael Donovan (sp?) is coming to do a weeklong workshop. It's $100, and I'll miss Friday because it's our last football game, which sucks, but I think I'm gonna do it. Then, on the 11th, GSU is having an International Music/ Dance Festival... thing...ish.... yeah. Okay. I'm hoping to perform at that with some other girls from Inishfree.
I'm gonna go to my history class now, where I get to take a quiz. Whoop-dee-doo! Ugh. Why is it so cold on mornings when I'm not awake, and it's always hot at football games so I can sweat all my makeup off?
How's that for an update? hehe- oh! I almost forgot to showcase my newest 'life lessons' quote that I made up.
>>>> "Optimism is just a pretty word for denial."
Well, I woke up at 8:30 this morning to the lovely sounds of Irish music blaring from downstairs. When Sarah finally woke up we all got ready and headed off to the Green Derby. In the car Sarah asked who was coming, but I said it would be better off if she had asked who wasn't coming. A lot of people joined us, mostly realitives. We sure had our hands full with Christopher though!
Afterwards, Melissa took Christopher and Kaity home and the rest of us went off to Patrick's. It wasn't crowded at first, but as more time went by it got to be really crowded. I've only been in Patrick's a few times before, and never during the day time. Then all these Irish stepdancers came in. I really wish I could stepdance. Sadly, I have no coordination and no time. It sucks. We had a nice little corner all to ourselves so we could see really well at first, but then more and more people started to come in and watch the dancers. Soon we could hardly see anything! It was still cool tho. I'm kinda surprised Sarah wasn't forced to step dance, but I bet she's glad. ^_^
We met my mom at 3 and then we headed off to Horigan's. It was really crowded and noisy in there. Our waiter got kinda mad at us because we only ordered 1 burger, but we thought it was funny. There was a box of Irish stuff that we could take and we stole so much crap! Especially the flashy things. *_* They were so cool! (I still have my on ^^) There were these rolls of stickers that said things on them like "Kiss me, I like beer", "Will jig for beer" and "Your pint-size friend". We stole two of them! Lol! The Ladies from Hell were there, and some singer guy. I love Irish music. It's so catchy.
Her eyes, they shone like the diamonds
(1,2)
You'd think she was queen of the land
(And she was!)
And her hair hung over her shoulder
Tied up in a black velvet band
Or, my favorite and credo for life: "Moonshine"
I'm a rambler and a gambler and a long way from home
If you don't like me then leave me alone
I'll eat when I'm hungry and I'll drink when I'm dry
And if moonshine don't kill me, I'll live til I die
Anyways, we all played tricks on each other, like sticking a poster on one guy's back and holding a sign that said "I'm Available" above Sarah's head! One of my mom's friends took it for later. It was so much fun! Even if you couldn't move more than two feet, I loved it!
Then we went to the even more crowded and even noiser Heibernians. We all had dinner there but it got really crazy and I was getting tired, so now I'm home again listening to Irish music and writing about it all!
Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!!
hey all!!! it has kinda been a little while since my last entry, lol, well only like a week, but that is a long time sometimes. newho, the irish dance shows went good, i am really glad that it is over with though. today i went to school, i was really tired. and my shins hurt like crazy so weight lifting wasn't too fun, but the company was good, lol. steven was my partner. that was cool. ooo in seasonal sports we played ultimate frisbee...that was fun, i love frisbee!! tomorrow i have dance and then from there i am gonna go to my bro's basketball game at the kettle falls high school! well i need to go check the chicken on the stove for my mom. see ya!!!
