Intruder
the hustle and bustle of life goes on around me and i try my best to concentrate on what it is people are saying to me; yet as creepy as it sounds, i feel there is an intruder in the house. i strive to imagine just who it is, and it comes to mind that it is not a complete stranger disturbing my thoughts, but the uncanny presence of you, stealing my breath away, causing my concentration to wander, and I have to inhale a gulp of air into the lungs that for eons, it seems, have been wanting.

why can't i get you out of my mind? we have only spoken across the airwaves, yet we have so much in common, that we could practically have been siblings experiencing some of the same events together. i presume it is your kind understanding of me that has captivated my mind. I guess, since I have not encountered such kindness in a while, often experiencing judgment and blame, that for you to tell me I am not a bad person, just because of wrong choices, caused tears to well up in me that were bubbling to the surface even as we spoke.

sure, you said, people make mistakes; some are just more visible than others, and people are hypocrites to cast blame on the things they can see, while locking skeletons into their own closets, hoping no one will ever unveil what they are so aptly trying to hide. you said that what is done in darkness will be brought into the light and what done in secret will be shouted from the housetops. therefore, it is good for people to know where they stand with me, even if it shocks them at first. no one is perfect. Jesus understood that when he pardoned the woman caught in adultery and the woman at the well, who had had five husbands and this one wasn't hers.

you lauded my talents, telling me that my creativity is ingenious; that I touch the heart of the reader as i place myself in the shoes of whom I am writing. you told me to believe in myself and my talents because I will go a long way if I but step out of the protective shell around me, and allow editors and publishers to see my work. you said to start writing my memoirs. you almost had me believing, almost...that I can do it...that i can succeed...

you are a tenderhearted preacher, and as I listened to every message you had posted on your site, at first just to hear what your sweet voice sounded like, I could tell why your people loved you. you indeed have the heart of a shepherd. your young people respect you, but love you enough to feel accepted and able to banter with you as well. i soon realized you were not the run of the mill man that a fallen woman could seduce, you didn't budge on that issue, albeit you laughed at her jokes, never making her feel small.

yes, you have invaded my house, my mind and my heart. because of your sweetness and determination to keep your integrity, yet counseling me to wholeness, I realize that there are, indeed, true Christians in this world. I shall go to sleep tonight, thinking of you, and perhaps, yes maybe, starting to believe in me.

thank you for being you; don't ever change. i will never forget you, and instead of seeing you as an intruder, I now can welcome you as a sweet part of me, the new me.

Why can't we Stop the Invasion of Mexicans in the USA

What is the Congress doing to stop the infux of ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS?

My town has been overtaken by Mexicans. Sure I like a taco just like everyone else but this is ridiculous. I go grocery shopping and my Wal Mart is packed full of pregnant Mexican women with 6 other children in tow. All a Social Security Card away from lifetime benefits (that they have not paid a dime for).

The products have all changed – half I cannot read because they are in Spanish. All those pregnant women are downloading American citizens that we will have to support. Our schools are over crowded and we have to provide classes in Spanish to instruct the ILLEGALS children that have not learned to assimilate into our country.

True Story - I was in court 3 weeks ago (I got a ticket for littering - a cigarette butt) anyway there are at least 4 Hispanics in court the person before me cannot speak one word of English. The court had to provide a translator for them.  He was caught driving without a license & no insurance. Guess What - Not one Single Person including the Judge asked him if he was in our country legally...not one person. The fine $300 next case. I almost fell out of my chair. I wanted to stand up and say "your honor has it ever occured to you that Pepe is not in our country legally and THAT is why he has no license"? You are turning him loose out on the streets to hopefully not get caught again? WHAT????

The only time I enjoy going the convenience store in the morning is on rainy days. THEY are not working – rain cancels construction projects.

Ok – take it anyway you like I am not a Mexican hater but what if the shoe was on the other foot. Would we be welcomed in Mexico if 1/3 of our population moved into Mexico and demanded that they all speak English – change the way their local stores operated – change the way any phone is answered? Would we be afforded benefits from the Mexican government – I think not?

Check the way they treat Non-Resident living in their country and you will see a vast difference.

I am for LEGAL immigrations – I am just pissed off that our leaders – President – Congress are doing absolutely NOTHING to stop this.  You had better hope the Hispanic population votes for you in the next elections because in my book you are outta here!

Stand Up American – grow some BALLS!

The Toads are Coming! The Toads are Coming!
Imagine the horror...

The China Meteorological Administration is reporting on their website that a small village in Southwest China is fighting a "relentless battle" against an army of toads. The toads, spurned on by the heavy rainfall and desire to conquer the tormented village, began their invasion a few weeks ago. Although the villages feared for their lives, they would not back down against the unceasing waves of toads. Some villagers waged battle with dustpans and farm implements. Others used the age-old, but little known, hand clapping technique. Toads fear hand clapping as much as the villagers fear the toads.

Scientists were quick to point out the toad invasion is related to the climate. Little comfort to the besieged villagers, I'm afraid.

War for America- Media Support

Part 4 of an unknown number of parts in the continuing saga I am now calling the War for America. I will use this forum to make known to the people how our culture, language, and society are slowly being degraded by the invasion from the South. I hope it will be part of a greater movement for education and action against these invaders.

I think when you read this article, you'll understand my anger and disappointment. Now I read this Navarrette guy often. I like to have a good laugh or cry every now and again. He is a Latino Reporter for CNN who almost exclusively comments on, *gasp*, Latino issues. I like to get the newest outrages from him.

Of course, now that Alberto Gonzales, the first Latino Attorney General has been caught in his web of lies, Navarrette must come to his aide! It couldn't be the domestic wiretapping, or the politically-motivated firings. NO! We must be attacking him for his RACE! what else could it be?

There is a new breed of reporter now. The educated Latino reporter who defends those of his own race against all takers no matter what. To them, Navarrette is a hero. One with national play. We need to look out for these types, they would have us giving sanctuary to a group of millions of law breakers. They would have us extending the rights saved for citizens to anyone who occupies our territory, and they would have us open the borders to anyone who'd like to come in. Worse, they make us feel bad for thinking the opposite of the way they do. They criticize us for saving our country and our birthright. And they defend their own, and try to make them above the law.

Keep your eyes peeled. The enemy is among us. And keep checking back- I'll keep you posted.

Commentary: Gonzales being whacked like a piñata

By Ruben Navarrette Jr.

SAN DIEGO, California (CNN) -- In the flap over the ousted U.S. attorneys, Alberto Gonzales has been hoisted up as a political piñata.

The nation's first Hispanic attorney general is being pressured to resign by -- pick 'em -- Democrats trying to make hay, an elite media that long opposed him, civil libertarians who condemn administration policy on detainees and wiretaps, conservatives who think Gonzales is too liberal, and liberals who think he's too conservative.

The list even includes a pair of immigrant-baiting members of Congress -- Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-California and Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colorado -- who fell out with Gonzales over the prosecution of two ex-border patrol agents.

Leading this lynch mob are white liberals who resent Gonzales because they can't claim the credit for his life's accomplishments and because they can't get him to curtsy.

Why should he? Gonzales doesn't owe them a damn thing. Democratic politicians love posing with mariachis as they nibble chips and salsa on Cinco De Mayo. But it was a Republican -- George W. Bush -- who made history by nominating a Hispanic to serve as attorney general.

Gonzales' persecutors are blind with rage, or maybe just blind. Surely they see that the push to dump the U.S. attorneys came from White House political adviser Karl Rove.

The attorney general does have one person in his corner. President Bush came out swinging Tuesday, insisting that Gonzales has his support and warning Democrats not to go on "a partisan fishing expedition aimed at honorable public servants."

I've interviewed Gonzales twice since he became attorney general. During the last interview, which took place three weeks ago in San Diego -- that is, before the controversy erupted -- I asked about the firings of the U.S. attorneys. He told me what he has told others: It was about performance.

"I have an obligation...to ensure that we have the best people we can have in here," he said. "All I will say is that the decisions that were made...were based upon performance, and there are many factors that go into that."

An avid baseball fan, Gonzales even pitched an analogy. "What I care about is -- are we trading up? "

As a political columnist, I cover liars for a living. And yet, I'd say Gonzales is pretty much as advertised by his old friend, President Bush: an honorable public servant.

He comes across as a straight shooter. What you see is what you get. He is also human, and he makes mistakes.

It may be that he made a whopper here in trusting his No. 2 not to hand over the hiring and firing of U.S. attorneys to a political hack like Rove. But then, Gonzales' critics aren't after the truth. They're after him.

Well, if they succeed in running him off without a fair hearing, many Hispanics won't forget the shoddy treatment afforded this grandson of Mexican immigrants. You watch. Democrats will have to intensify their efforts to win Hispanic votes in the 2008 elections. And there's not that much chips and salsa on the planet.
