Leaders Camp

Well, despite the re-aggravation due to a tackle by Mark EikelBOOM! of my 2004 Leaders Camp Mucketball injury (bruised ribs), I am glad I went with the Frontline and LUCF students and their staff (Annika & Paul) to Leaders Camp at Manitoba Pioneer Camp.

An inspiring story: While I was driving the Frontline girls home, Kayla asked if we could go past Westgate and pray for that school. Another girl (sorry, I forget which) said, "Hey! I was just about to say that!" So the 4 girls and I did stop in the parking lot and pray for a school which for a long time (and that's a "long time" even in my terms) has not had a very active ISCF or Frontline. I am impressed that these girls think this way -- despite their probably being tired and eager to get home.

I will probably blog some other reflections about the weekend at other times, including my decision, despite the pain of rejection I still feel, to return to wearing my Dorion Bible Camp garb, including my Program Director jacket. After all, no matter what bad feelings the current leaders may have about me, I *was* there for 31 years, including 16 as PD as my fulltime job. They can't take that from me. Not everyone with a highschool football jacket, still plays for that team!!

Click on the pic above for a larger version of a collage of Thunder Bay Area/Lakehead University people who were on staff at Manitoba Pioneer Camp this summer.

Note that is not Emily's baby and he is not from Thunder Bay,

There is only one Matt not two.

Rache Pawluk is camera shy. She agreed to let me photograph her hand.

Read the comments for thoughts on a chat I had with the MPC Exec Director re. MPC and Dorion Bible Camp.

Check Aug. 16 at my other blog to see the results of a very unscientific quiz re. my theological worldview.

Thunder Bay IVCF Staff Party

Click for a bigger version.

When he realized that Pat and Courtney were going to be in town, Tim Lappala initiated the idea of a party of the current and former IVCF staff (who are in town) at my place. I have volunteered with IV/ISCF for a long time and was, in fact, interim part-time staff between Nina and Tim. (I was actually still full-time with CSSM Ministries/Dorion Bible Camp at the time, but IVCF contributed to my support, helped with IVCF and received monthly reports from me.) The party was tonight and it was a good time of eating, chatting and never getting around to playing Balderdash.

Back Row L - R: Miriam Lappala (who was staff for 1/2 a year), Tim Lappala (who was also my Assistant Program Director at Dorion Bible Camp for 3 weeks in '96), Paul Morrison (current LUCF staff), Pat Cain (ISCF for a year before Annika) and Mary Ellen Cain (ISCF '98 - '01).

Front Row L - R: Courtney & Isaac Cain, Annika Vastamaki (current IVCF High School
Ministries staff "Frontline") and Richard Pepper (moi).

Boy, I don't know what it didn't dawn on me earlier just to use HTML to show you pics from time to time. This is fun and easy!

Frontline Party Pics

Pictures of Frontline's Surfer Party this past Saturday can be viewed at my Yahoo pictures page in the 2nd album.

There as part of the Karaoke contest I "cheated" and used my guitar to sing Bob Dylan's "I'll Remember You". I sang this the other night as well for Andy James (Director of Dorion Bible Camp 1972 -1991). I suppose Bob wrote it for a person, but I sing it for a place.

Congrats to Cassie who won the contest. Congrats Annika for a good year.
