Those two things were accomplished no problem. But before the doctor came in a nurse comes into the room with a digital camera.
Nurse: "I need to get your picture Mary Ellen."
Mom and me: "Huh?"
Nurse: "Its standard procedure now to have a picture in your file."
Me: "Why is that?"
Nurse: "Insurance fraud ..... people using other peoples insurance."
I sit and digest this statement for a minute while the nurse takes moms picture and leaves the room.
Mom: "Can you imagine someone trying to use someone else's insurance?"
Me: "Yes, mom I can." "How many people out there need help and can't get it because they don't have insurance?" "Your daughter included .... it is unafforable."
Mom: "Well you wouldn't do that would you?"
Me: "No, no I wouldn't." "But mom ...... maybe if I was desperate enough ..... maybe if someone I loved needed help and couldn't get it ..... there are so many maybe's there ....."
And I break down crying out of control. My poor mom just not getting my tears ..... looks away not knowing what to do.
It breaks my heart that this stupid fucking country and the stupid fucking people who run it don't give a rats ass about its people. Am I surprised that there is insurance fraud? FUCK NO! FUCK NO!
When will we start taking care of our own. When its to late? Desperate people .... people who would normally never consider something like isurance fraud are pushed into it day in and day out ...... why? Because this fucking Rebpulican system does not give a rats ass ......

It was only a few days ago that I was told I had to fly out to Sri Lanka to do some fire fighting in Staysure’s IT department. I admit I was walking around with a distinct air of smugness (much to everyone’s annoyance) that I got to undertake such an ‘arduous’ task at the company’s expense and even get to take my girlfriend J!
It’s funny how things change. My smirk began to disappear early this morning as we boarded a plane that can only be described as pre-dating the Wright Brothers. I sat in my not-so-comfy seat and suddenly found religion.
Having grown up in South Africa and lived in Europe and the UK, I consider myself to be a seasoned traveller if not in fact an intrepid explorer. Wrong! I wasn’t ready for the wall of humidity that hit us as we disembarked (great – its monsoon season!) and even less prepared for the deluge of porters jostling us, before one managed to get ahead of the pack, pushing our luggage 2 feet and then demanding a fiver. I am just relieved that we landed without losing the landing gear and J is starting to get some colour back.
Feeling invincible from the flight we took the bus from the airport to our hotel, through Columbo’s high rise blocks, passing several shanty towns on the edge of the city and then past loads of wooden shacks built to replace the property destroyed in the Tsunami.
By the time we arrived at our hotel, the Blue Water Resort I thought I had seen my share of excitement for today. But no, we were shown to our room and I looked out of the window and screamed - there’s an elephant in the garden!
I am just getting ready to meet my Sri Lankan colleagues for the first time, including my nemesis who I will call P the main reason I am here, to enjoy a civilised game of cricket on the beach. If I survive tonight I will let you know what happens...

Alright went to school as usual, went to work these past few days for "training" on something i already have experience on, but hey i get payed right? Well today i received a notificaion for Jury duty! But im afraid i will not be able to attend this governement related requirement for i attend college! YES! Although i do have to admit i would like to see what its like, but for now i do not want to miss any of my classes since i payed for them out-of-poket and am awaiting (or more like working on) my financial aid. But i am exempt from it because of my current enrollment.
I know many say it is very boring and long, but nontheless it would be rather interesting to be in a court room (which as many can see i have not been to one as of yet, nor am i planning to be in one unless it was regarding jury duty). Of course it does seem a little boring, but if i could just attend for as long as i want and leave when i want....i know this is impecable and imaginative of me, but that would be great^_^
Now i also received a notification from the company i work for that my insurance would no longer be valid after Sept 30, 2008.Sucks, but I am glad they at least gave me a suitable time to make all my apointments.
