The Nerd Parade Join Headphone Treats
Some big news for my little indie label. Here's the press release:

###

Headphone Treats has inked a deal with Randy Garcia and his new band The Nerd Parade. The new album, entitled "A Delicate Bashing" will be released in April of 2007 on the Atlanta-based indie pop/indie rock label.

Hailing from Florida's dance music scene, Randy Garcia made a name for himself as the founder of boutique label Nophi Records and through his varied and eclectic releases. He now makes a decisive move toward hook-laden indie pop with The Nerd Parade, teaming up with Abby Wren, who's astounding voice and distinctive personality adds a truly soulful tone to Garcia's cunningly melodic backdrops and beats. Vocally, Garcia and Wren blend together naturally sounding at times like an oddly perfect pairing of Stephin Merritt and Kierin Kirby.

Three pre-release tracks ("Kitten", "Smedley" and "Resolution Day") are available for free preview at the Headphone Treats website:

The band will be playing several warm up shows in the next two months and will begin touring the US in April. Visit The Nerd Parade website to keep up with dates and tour news:

[let the bobbleheading begin]
Just in time for impending Spring!  (Sunshine and warmer weather are more sluggish about bouncing into some parts, but that shouldn't keep us from doin' our own thang, right?)

What am I talking about?  Good question.  And usually, I might add, well-warranted, as more often than not I don't even know what I'm talking about.

But today I do!  I swear!

The fact of the matter (or the matter of fact) is The RuckuS is back with an all-new episode!

A little bird told me that a blogger who goes by the nickname of theRacket hosts his very own podcast.

And that bird is very reliable.  Even more reliable than Big Bird.  Very.

What is The RuckuS?  It's a weekly Saturday podcast showcasing about 30 minutes of superb podsafe music hosted by yours truly, the good friend of the Terrifically Big Bird, and following a fresh new theme every week.  Sometimes the theme is a genre.  Sometimes the theme is a pattern.  Sometimes the theme is about waking from winter hibernation and getting the kinks out.  But it's always meant to be a good time.

And before I depart, some much deserved Thank Yous.

Thanks to AAP for the kind and constructive suggestion regarding tweaked mic levels.  Can you hear me now?

Thanks to Drunknphilosphr for the endorsement and regular words of support for the show and for spreading the love around Italy by telling your friends to listen, too.  You rock!

Thanks to the comic braintrust of WTF (Nomad, Chilly, AAP, Johnny5, Arrrgylesocks, Shiny, & Garth Sparkles) for there Quite White yet Supa Aiiiight Shout Out on last night's show.  Now where's my signed mini-composition book, hmmm?  Just kidding.  Sort of.

And Special Sauce thanks to all the Repeat Offenders out there who tune in to the show week after week.  And I mean that affectionately.  Even the Repeat Offender part.  It means a lot to me to have your support, especially as I'm still quite new at crafting podcasts.  Thanks for listening as I learn.  Thanks for telling your friends about The RuckuS.  You are all The Best!

Enjoy the show!  I've gotta fly.  (Get it?  Big Bird?  Fly?  Ok, nevermind.  I'll leave now.)

[a landfill for time]
You've got nothing better to do for the next 30 minutes or so.

Or you do have something to do, but it would be so much better with a little background music.

Why not listen to my most recent podcast I released this past Saturday?

You can download it.  [click here]

You can read about it.  [click here]

You can ignore it.  [click anywhere but here] -- (Shame on you for trying!)

New collections of music (accompanied by my own verbal madness) are available for your aural consumption each Saturday.

Ignorance is only bliss if you don't share my taste in music.

...

That sounded so much better in my head.

What is The RuckuS?

That is an excellent question.  It's also a very difficult one to answer, because if you'd have asked me the same thing last week, my response would have been completely different.

True, The RuckuS is a tricky little thing like that.  Here are the more static facts about it - The RuckuS is a weekly podcast featuring a themed-blend of podsafe music and hosted by yours trickily.  Last week's theme was Trip-Hop and my first foray into hosting the show.  (Before that, my babble-free themes ranged from Reggae to Blues to Electronica.  Did I mention the show was Eclectic?)

Perhaps it would be in the interest of both of us for me to just shut up now and let you listen to my latest edition.  Afterwards, you can answer the question for me.
