Ignorant People @ MindSay

I saw the most troubling thing on the way home from work today.  Some idiot had there dog in the bed of their pick up truck, unrestrained, traveling down the interstate. 

That dog was scared to death and I am afraid he may have met his death.  The dog was barking madly and trying to get out but when the strong winds would hit its face it would retreat back into the bed.  I am not for sure but I watched the truck until it got out of view and I could see that the dog was trying to get on top of the cab just before the truck got out of view as I went around a curve.  As the other cars came around the corner I did not see the truck leading me to think that the dog jumped out of the bed.  As that truck was traveling at least 65 mph, there is no way that it would have lived.  As an animal lover that pissed me off.  I sure hope I am wrong about that.

Tennesee passed a law against that crap a couple of years ago.  Under NO circumstances is a dog allowed to be transported in the back of a pick up in or around urban areas and on interstates unless it is in a crate or caged device.  The only exception to this law is if the animal is being transported in rural areas but then the animal must be retrained to the bed of the truck.

I absolutely despise ignorant people like that.  I tell you when I do get a truck my dog will be sitting beside me in the cab with his head stuck out the window which will be cracked open enough only to let her do that.  That way she can still pretend to be flying and will be safe in the process. 

Dogs do not know that if they jump out they will be hurt.  People know.  And people should take precaution for their animals.

I don't have any problem with people thinking that they are smart, better that than feeling useless I suppose.  However, I do have a problem with people who think they are more intellingent and/or better than other people.  Maybe I am sensitive to it, paranoid if you will, but I believe I pick up on it more than most people.  It's the whole "judge the book by it's cover" theme in action.  I believe I get slighted frequently, based solely on my rather non-serious nature. 

I'll explain this here, on a mini tangent, so if you want to skip that then jump to the next paragragh.  Listen, I don't want to live with a stick up my ass my entire life, my father does it, he's miserable and has nothing going for him in his life other than the fact that he has two businesses.  It cost him his marriage and the respect of at least one of his children.  So I am easy-going most of the time, never serious, and I try to ellicit laughs most of the time.  It is like the theory that if you put a million monkeys at a million typewriters you'll eventually get Shakespeare (or something to that equivalent).  If I try to make someone laugh 1000 times, I'll succeed at least once.  I don't bat for average pal.   

Anyways, I know for certain people look down on me for this, thinking I am just an idiot because I act foolishly at times.  Well underestimating someone could be the most ignorant "crime" a person could commit, and I can accuse many people of said crime.  So listen, don't sit there in a coffee house and hold your book on philosophy and think you are the friggin Plato himself.  Remember what Socrates himself said, my dear scholars: "I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing."  You know the kind of person I am talking about. 

Related to this is how I think philosophy in general is a complete waste of time.  You can sit here and tell me all day long why pro-choice is the only option in the debate on abortion, but it doesn't make you right, it just makes you a baby murderer.  Same with the death penalty and the like.  I took a philosophy class.  (You'd have to be a moron to fail it, the minimum requirement being arguementative skill.)  You want to look smart and pull off your obnoxious routine?  Read the Bible.  I guarantee that would turn some heads.  (Note: I am not particularly religious in any way) 

On another related note, and Brandon Gray says it best, GPA means shit.  Hoz is one of the smarter people I know, and I guarantee he has seen the same thing I have mentioned in this post, specifically because he is most of the time wrapped up in a different way to piss off people, which I can't get enough of to say the least.  Just because Joe cares more about pasta than he does being awake doesn't mean shit.  He has more answers to more questions than a whore has genital diseases.  I don't think any of us could be accused of having an enviable GPA, but I'll go into an intellectual battle with the two of them any day.
