Hurricane IKE: Something random but kinda funny...

Security Level: Low (Public / Everybody)

Above is now Hurricane Ike's current location and projected path, including possible forecast error path.

Galveston is already partly underwater due to storm surges (which is seemingly something that a Cat.4 would do)... :(

whatethelsays, d7prez, if you can, let us know if you're all safe.

While I was listening to XM's Emergency Channel (XM 247), I heard a reporter stated a few hours ago that they found some people in Galveston, facing the gulf, holding up a big sign that says:

Ike, Go Away!!!
Tina isn't here...

Ha Ha Ha! ...Turner

Hehehe.  Ok, back to reinforcing windows, filling up the bathtub, eating and getting some sleep for the long stormy night ahead...

Mindsayers in the Houston / Galveston area, make sure you keep all your battery operated gadgets ready and charged up (cell phone, two way radios, laptop, toys ;) ;), etc!).  I'll be back for the comments and replies once I'm settled in.

If you have a twitter account, follow me... "callmeroger".

Hurricane IKE: In the wake of the storm...

Security Level: Low (Public / Everybody)

Hey MindSay, what's up? I'm supposed to be at work right now, but I'm here at home, taking a break for now to get a few things prior to my second delivery run.

I'm pretty sure I'll be able to update some more later on, during the afternoon. I just don't feel like I prepared enough for this hurricane, but I'm confident that everything's going to be A-Ok.

The hospitals are beefing up their security. I was not aware that my badge has a "clearance" pass to the hospital during a disaster mode. I'm an "Essensial Personnel" for the Regional Hospital Preparedness Council. In an event where any hospitals in the Southeast Texas restrict access in an emergency situation, I will be given access to my destinations. I didn't know I had this clearance... nice!

Now, because power failures are possible during situations like these, I will be adding an RSS feed of my Twitter blog here in MindSay. If for some reason that I am unable to update my MindSay blog, this will keep you guys updated:

Also, I apologize for any delay in my response to your replies and comments. I'll get to them as soon as possible.

Texas MindSayers, let me know how you guys are doing! :)

HURRICANE ALERT - IKE: Cat 2, Projected Path; Houston? Victoria?

According to the projected path in the map posted along with this entry, it seems like Ike is going to strike the Texas coastline. But where? If you look at the map closely, from the zoom level of the screenshot, it's going to affect Houston and Victoria, TX.

Projected Path
(MSNBC)

Today at 10:00am CST, Brazoria County orders a Mandatory Evacuation of zip code 77541, and volunatary evacuation for everyone around there. From what I remember, Brazoria County isn't too far from the counties of Fort Bend and Galveston.

If Hurricane Ike's path chooses to head towards this area, I can only assume that the next evacuation will be ordered for Galveston and Chambers. Fort Bend County will be next, and then Harris County.

Do I need to do a roll call? I'll do that later.
- Harris County MindSayers, planning on leaving?
- How are you guys preparing over there at Victoria,TX; James?

Been talking to my cousin in Mississippi. They evacuated on Sunday,August 31 2008. They live in Pass Christian, and my Aunt in Long Beach.
Lynn said 13 feet of water in Pass Christian. They just finished their house after Katrina and losing everything in it. They did build up though! 18 feet in the air! Hope the surge is over. 5 more feet and it will be in their house. Right now just storage room on bottom level in water. House safe right now. Still has the door intact. Whew! They traveled 2 hours northward to escape. Haven't heard any news about Long Beach area where my Aunt bought a house. She still owns the concrete slab where her house was before Katrina. She did not rebuild in same place. Could stand in her driveway and see the Gulf. She lived Very close.
Keeping my prayers flowing for them!
Two pictures of my cousins house as being built........

UPDATE:10:45 pm Mississippi time:
Lynn said pray hard...water rising again!

$80.09 a Barrel!!!

Get ready for some more pain at the pump!  This is the first time crude oil has risen above $80 a barrell. The oil companies are placing the blame on Hurricane Humberto. I think they like hurricanes!
