All I have to say is --if snakes had fur, lil paws, whiskers and fur--I could deal much easier with them. If they at least showed some fear of me........ but noooooooooooo they wait for me on zuccini mountain and watermelon hill etc.
Sorry snake lovers but they are just not cute. After I scream and run for my life--I almost always sneak back out to look and are they in the spot they were when I left? Did they slither out of site? NOOOOOOOOO they are always in the spot that I was last standing before I took off looking like I was having a stroke.
Here is a story I wrote a long time ago soon after a snake encounter. It was written from the heart when I wasn't as brave (hm hmm) as I am now.
The Snake (true story)
"Mommy, Sunny(the cat) ran by me really
fast with something long hanging out of his mouth" said the lil one.
"Was it stiff or limp?" as my heart started to beat funny. "I don't
know but it wasn't a cord or anything and I know I'm staying back
here. Mommy, can a snake get under this door?"
I walked slowly and purposefully towards the living room. So far
so good. I was hoping to see a dead/dying snake that maybe I could
remove with a shovel. Of course I was ready to run if the cat still
had it in his mouth and would be running towards me to show off his
hunting skills. There it was. It was coiled up and not looking dead.
I ran like hell back into the bedroom to rethink my tactics(never
retreat).
Ok so now we both are walking like we are off to see the wizard.
Good sign--he is still in the same spot as we stare trying to figure
out his condition. "We better get weapons" I say no longer even
trying to look brave. "Yes, YOU should get a weapon, Mom." lil one
says. I'm explaining the whole time how we know it's not poisonous
and it's supposedly scared of us(yeah right). Also it serves some
form of purpose like killing other gross stuff. I turn to choose my
weapon. I turn back-- It's gone. No sign--just gone. It's so not
dead. We run like the wind once again.
Needless to say, my house is now all tore up and cleaning day is
shot to hell. There it is, going under the refrigerator. It's got
those yellow stripes and blotchy spots, about four feet long with a
tiny head. It's looking at me. I'm praying it gets fried under the
fridge. It reappeared as I'm looking up snake killing methods online.
All I can find is dumb articles on snake away-glue-lime-sulphur and
how we shouldn't be inhumane or kill it. It's being inhumane to me as
it slithers under my chair. I jump from chair to couch to arm rest.
Ok the bastard may still be here or may have left thru the door I left
open as I ran for my life. I think the cat was wanting to kill it but
got scared himself. I don't know. I no longer care.
I just know someday I am going to be able to put my feet on the floor
and extend my legs once again. Not TOday. I have also learned that
if you arrange your furniture just so, you never have to touch the
floor at all.
I dealt with the rat much better. It at least was fuzzy and looked like
Mickey Mouse some what. This snake knows it's got rule over our activities
until it's death/capture. It never flinched in my presence nor did it
hurry along in a panic. It just slithered slowly and hatefully as if it
knew it was tormenting us.
I love Sunny. Really I do. I am going to repeat that as many times that it takes to convince myself. ;0)
I just spent the last 2 days off and I really didn’t do much of anything....it was great! Thursday night I made dinner and Ty came over and we ate and talked and over all just had a good night hanging out with each other. He really liked what I made, which was good because I was very nervous that it wasn't going to turn out. Although I have made that dish like a zillion times I was still afraid something was going to go wrong and that he would either hate it or by some strange reason it would make him sick....I know that last is an extreme but that was one of my fears. I made Green chili chicken enchiladas, spanish rice and I went and got chips and salsa from a local mexican place....I didn't make the salsa due to me not having a blender right now. But all and all the meal was a hit! I knew that he wasn't going to be home for the weekend but I know that he has a roommate so I asked if he might want to take some home for him to eat....he said that he would love that so I made up a big thing of food so that he could take it home to his roommate. Well after all that was done things moved into snuggling, a few kisses....ok alot of kisses but it was just nice being able to spend sometime getting to know one another better. I really like the fact that he and I can sit and talk/joke around and me still sit back and go Wow, this guy is alot of fun and intelligent....lol I have to admit that its been really hard for me to find a guy that has all the qualities such as Smart, Good conversation skills, Funny, Good looking, Laid back, Strong drive. Oh and did I mention Good looking? lol I know I am silly but god he has this smile and eyes that just make me blush when I think about him. No but really that aside he really has alot that I would like to have in a guy. I like the fact that we can talk about serious issues but then can be silly and joke around. Ok ok I know I am in that puppy love faze but what the hell right? When he was leaving I had completely forgotten all about making up a to-go thing for his roommate so he reminded me and it really tickled me that he really wanted those left-overs. I got an email from him the next day which I totally wasn't expecting because he worked and when he got off work was heading right out for Portland for the weekend so I figured that the next time I would hear from him it would be sometime in the middle of the week. But anyways in the email he mentioned that he ate all of the left-overs because when he got home he ate some and that he took the rest for lunch that day.....I know it may seem silly but I was very relieved that he liked my cooking! Plus it made me feel good that he took the time to let me know that.
Ok enough acting the a teenage girl with a crush.....Other then that I had a quite 2 days off....Friday night I spent sometime with a good friend of mine and had alot of fun! We just hung out and watched a movie but with her and I it’s always silly and alot of fun.
I can't believe the Freshman won the pep rally, though I wasn't surprised when my sophmore class really didn't do anything, my class was never very spirited. I also didn't get to leave the school until about 7:30, as I had Druiver's ed after school, and then I had a Boyscout function to do at the stadium... Ah well, I was happy to get home.
Also, according to my orthodontist, I should have room for my wisdom teeth, which means they won't have to be pulled, which is very, very good. I had a busy day yesterday.
Live from New Mexico, this is EvilSnack, signing off.
It has taken me many, many years to be comfortable with my in laws. Or at least, comfortable in their home. Saturday was our 16'th anniversary and this is the first time I have ever spent the night in my in laws home. My mother in law breeds little tiny mexican dogs (no, I can't spell the breed name, so I'm not even going to try) and the have over run her home.
Anyway, Friday late afternoon we drove up to the Dells and met them at Tommy Bartlett's Ski, Sky, Stage show. Resident days, so admission was only $2 each, instead of $15. We had a nice time and got backt o their home at 11:00. Got up at 7 and got ready for church and pot luck lunch following. My sister from DC arrived just after church was over and we all had a nice lunch. Drove back to my inlaws and spent an hour or so jsut relaxing onthe deck, then headed over to my moms to spend time with my sister and her new husband, and my other sisters. Once everyone arrived at mom and dad's we loaded everyone up into vans and drove into town to the zoo.
Ochner's Park Zoo is nothing like any zoo you are imaging. They have a pair of wolves, a couple llamas, pairs of bob cats, monkeys, bears, some goats, a pot bellied pig, a few white tailed deer, ducks, swans, peacocks, and a prairie dog exhibit. Thats it, and no more. The kids loved the goats and the prairie dogs, we spent nearly 30 minutes watching them.
Then down to the park at the bottom of the hill.
Home for popcorn and fruit, then back to the inlaws for the night. Morning brought everyone getting up and ready for brunch that my sister and her husband were hosting at the White Rose bed and breadkfast in the Dells. Great place and the food was excellent. Sunday afternoon was spent being lazy, then back to the inlaws where my husband and I fixed dinner for everyone. My mother in law loves it when we cook, cause I bring all the food with me and she can wrok around the house and yard and not worry about the food.
Monday morning my dad made breakfast. Something of a tradition. My dad is a truck driver and therefore not home very much. Before we moved away 2 years ago, we lived 4 miles from my parents and 4 miles from my in laws. When my dad would come home, I'd take the kids to school and go to my parents where dad would make breakfast, pretty soon, wheneer he as home on the weekend, he'd make breakfast for whomever should up, which could sometimes be as many as all of us, (13 all together) Mom did help with breakfast on this morning, she made home made waffles with fresh strawberries and whipped cream, and dad contributed the beef bacon. ( none of us eat pork and beef bacon must be special ordered in bulk, none of the rest of us hae freezer room for it, so we only get it when dad makes breakfast) Then off to Mt. Olympus water park.
It was a full and busy day and the kids come home exhausted. Then I left 3 of my 4 kids with their grandparents and broght the baby home. so it's just him and I this week, which has been nice, but I'm used to having at least one of the older kids here to help with the running and fetching.
