Hmmmm @ MindSay
Out of the litter of 6 kittens, there is this shadowy female with splots of cream on her face and front paw. As soon as she got her lil warrior personailty instantly Scathach or Scath came to mind. Normally I don't name my animals after Gods or Goddesses but this batch of kitties all got various culture Goddess names but the boys. And those boys got wolf mytholgy names from Rome!
Thus I named this lil female kitten Scathach. And low and behold the day Winter Solstice starts I find this article on BBC
An elderly woman has reported being attacked by a large cat in the Highlands.
Pat MacLeod, 74, from Ardross Road in Alness, told police she was injured by a 3ft-long cat while putting out her bins earlier this week.
Mrs MacLeod, who suffered deep cuts to her legs and cuts and scratches on her hands, needed stitches in hospital.
Police and Scottish Natural Heritage are trying to trace the cat, which has been described as grey coloured.
Mrs MacLeod said it was the second time she had been attacked by a cat outside her home and on this occasion the animal sprang at her as soon as she made eye contact.
'Shockingly strong'
She said the "shockingly strong" cat managed to drag her some distance and expressed concern about what might happen if a child encountered the animal.
Northern Constabulary said an unprovoked attack would be very uncharacteristic of a Scottish wildcat and suggested that the animal may be a hybrid of a domestic and feral cat.
A force spokesman said there had previously been sightings of big cats in the area, but no reports of attacks.
Police have advised anyone who sees a "unusually large" cat not to approach it or feed it.
Below is some general meanings and symbolism behind the Goddess Scathach. A few different verbal sources have informed me that the Highland Hills of Scotland and their people still speak about the Cat People. And how many folks believe that the clans associated with them are making a come back. What really got me going hmmmmmmmmm on top of the kitten and this story was the show Sanctuary! They have an "abnormal" as part of their crew from Scotland (i think or a Celt man who was orphaned as a child) that morphs into a Cat Creature. Or for those of you who need a little help aka Were Cat! Then on top of this I was bored a bit today and had DeLaney go up to one of my Smutt Book Cases and get me a book to read, she brings me the first book in a series about WereCats!
I think Scathach is trying to say dayumit woman get rid of the dogs and stick with cats! Work with me dayumit!
Scathach/Scota/Scatha/Scath Ireland, Scotland. "Shadow, shade"; "The Shadowy One"; "She Who Strikes Fear". Underworld goddess of the Land of Scath; Dark Goddess; goddess in the Destroyer aspect. Also a warrior woman and prophetess who lived in Albion (Scotland), probably on the Isle of Skye, and taught the martial arts. Patroness of blacksmiths, healing, magic, prophecy, martial arts.
And this is another few things I have on Scathach
Cats were of great significance to the Celtic people. In Scotland the Strwart Caln had the cat as a totem animal, and this totem covered the confederacy of a number of tribes, clans and families. Kataobh (‘Cat Country’) now known as Caithness is named after a pictish tribe the Kati (‘Cat People’). In one of the Irish otherworld voyages, a little cat is encountered as a guardian of treasure; in maintaining its watch, it turns into a flaming form, and leaping its way through a potential thief. Turns him to ashes. The cat is usually a female totem, dating back to ancient goddess worship. In this design, interwined triple felines indicate the symbolically significant mumber three which is most sacred to the Celts. Cats are said to have nine lives (nine os a multiple of three…).
It is a sad chain of events when you know what it is that you want to do with your life 10 years from now. You know exactly where you want to be and what you want from your life. But, in the current happenstance you have no idea what you are doing, what you want, or what you should be doing. There is a huge ten year gap in my life. I know I have to be in college but beyond that I am horribly lost...lol. How great is that? Where do you go when you know where you want to go but you don't know exactly where to go from where you are in order to get to that place....? ok well that is my philosophical crazy question for the day that makes absolutely no sense which makes perfect sense in corrolation with my life at the present time.
Ok, so I have one full month to come up with a plan for V-Day. I truly hate V day and I have no problem with admitting why. For the last seven years, I have been dateless. Well this year I refuse to be stuck at home and there is no way on God's green earth I am going into work. V-day is up there as one of the worse days for domestic disturbances. Women and Men hurt by the fact that their other halves either forgot or simply refused to purchase a gift.
Before anyone says it, I know that this is a hallmark day. A day to sell cards, a day to make money. That is fine, I do not care. I want someone to hold hands with and get that lovely feeling with. I want my tummy to flip.
Either way I am going out on the town, even if I must go solo.......
Any suggestions?
While details were not available at press time, it is believed that the overhead cost of having twelve days of Christmas and eight days of Chanukah was becoming prohibitive for both sides. By combining forces, we're told, the world will be able to enjoy consistently high-quality service during the Fifteen Days of Christmukah, as the new holiday is being called.
Massive layoffs are expected, with lords a-leaping and maids a-milking being the hardest hit. As part of the conditions of the agreement, the letters on the dreydl, currently in Hebrew, will be replaced by Latin, thus becoming unintelligible to a wider audience. Also, instead of translating to "A great miracle happened there," the message on the dreydl will be the more generic "Miraculous stuff happens." In exchange, it is believed that Jews will be allowed to use Santa Claus and his vast merchandising resources for buying and delivering their gifts.
In fact, one of the sticking points holding up the agreement for at least three hundred years was the question of whether Jewish children could leave milk and cookies for Santa even after having eaten meat for dinner. A breakthrough came last year, when Oreos were finally declared to be Kosher. All sides appeared content with this decision.
A spokesman for Christmas, Inc., declined to say whether a takeover of Kwanzaa might not be in the works as well. He merely pointed out that, were it not for the independent existence of Kwanzaa, the merger between Christmas and Chanukah might indeed be seen as an unfair cornering of the holiday market. Fortunately for all concerned, he said, Kwanzaa will help to maintain the competitive balance.
He then closed the press conference by leading all present in a rousing rendition of "Oy, Come All Ye Faithful."
