DECEMBER'S HIT PARADE!

So much talent resides within the webpages of the Mindsay community.

It’s hard to appreciate all the diverse voices and visions because it’s hard to find it all.

We have combed through all the blog entries to find those outstanding posts that make you want to say, “I wish I had said/done that…”

HEADLINERS is a new blog that reachs out to all the corners of the MINDSAY Community. Each month you’ll see some of the showcased posts of the previous month. Using the Mindsay Tags as a general guide, we will reach out across the different blogs to pick the standouts in Art, Miscellaneous, News Related, Poetry, Photography, etc. Individual bloggers may appear only once each month.

RULES
1.) No blogger will appear more then once in any given month.
2.) Only Blogs posted befween the 1st and last days of the past month will be considered.
3.) Blogs will be listed by category.
4.) Blogs will be choosen using the Mindsay Tags feature.  You can use our suggested tags as well
5.) There is no need to nominate. Your posts are your nominations.  Except in the Honourable Mentions category

Hi Folks.

We have received some questions as to who we are, and I would like to take this time to tell you that as fellow bloggers we just wanted to let other people know what blogs around Mindsay are all about. This project was an effort to help bring attention to our fellow Mindsayers.  If people have been offended we seriously apologize on behalf of Headliners.  Also, we would ask that if people wish to not be "selected" in the future, to just request it from Headliners via email at headliners.mindsay@gmail.com

A lot of work has gone into creating this project, and we would like to see it become a success.  However we will respect all bloggers in regards to whether they wish to appear in this forum.

As for who we are,the creators of Headliners and its portal sites are  limelife and tootboy

Any other questions/comments/suggestions may be directed to headliners.mindsay@gmail.com

Thank you,

Headliners

I Love MindSay Pages! I Love Headliners! Way to go MindSay Team!
Here's an idea for a "What I love about MindSay" Essay.... (well it was...)

Well I know that I enjoy blogging at MindSay. I'm not saying that because they're such a great team - or that there's such a bright group involved in the community. I'm not "sucking up" for a contest. (I was thinking of using this as a Yearbook entry and changed my mind...just 'cause I hate to have to wait to post this!) I simply enjoy MindSay because it's given me an enriching experience that transcends just "writing". It challenges me and it even pulls me out of my little life into the big wide world - out there.

I have learned in leaps and bounds; to interact on the internet and to hone my writing and creative skills through html, css and the challenges of "trial and error" design! I have made friends and interacted with people clear across the continent, shared scary moments and beautiful touching moments and some of the best photography and poetry and writing there is! Who can beat that?

Now we have MindSay Pages, and with them we are begining a most formidable new experiment; Co-Creation!
I'm not sure people really appreciate the impact co-creation has on our thought processes. Creation - for a writer or a designer is a very personal experience. We all do it everyday, here and in our lives in general. Usually the "creator" identifies very strongly with their "creation"... People take great pride in their particular prowess, and rightly so.

In a co-creative exercise there is a whole new dynamic to contend with. Many of those same polished "creators" have difficulty standing back and allowing others to replace, re-design or re-word their work! This new paradigm; working co-operatively in creation with others is a great opportunity to not only vastly increase the material available at Mindsay and help connect people with similar interests but to also provide opportunity to learn co-operative skills, to collaborate, even to learn to agree to disagree, and be able to do it amiacably... well, we can hope, I've no doubt we can!

The experiment has only just begun and the pages are building quickly and there's that "time will tell" thing... My prediction? About this time next year Adam & Brian & all, will find they've almost doubled the number of blog sites since inception of the MindSay Page and attracted many more new users as a result. They'll be forced and inspired to improve the Front Page of the MindSay site to openly invite non-initiates to view the MindSay Pages (there's no "blocking" them) plus anyone's pages that are syndicated and not "blocked" ie; friends only sites, allowing anyone, the world, to access without entering a password or user ID.

And then MindSay Headliners came to be, almost as magically as "The Pages"! It's another great way to connect everyone and gives us all a bit more insight into the resource we actually have here! Again it's not some sort of popularity contest as many other features have seemed and I find that refreshing! Thank You all so for that!

This really highlights the need; someone will have to put their thinking cap on to find a better "Entry Portal" for the MindSay Community - highlighting these features rather than just forcing an interested un-initiate to enter their e-mail address and password. Otherwise we who also list our sites with BlogExplosion (therefore no "blocking") are the only ones who can find ways to invite other people "IN" to the community experience here. But I have learned: once they're "IN" they find it hard to manouever around because of the blocking set up - probably would be good to address that issue, somehow..., early this year if expansion is a BIG goal.

No matter if my prediction is correct or not... I won't win a prize for a prediction - BUT - we've all won something far better, right here; a community that can evolve and enjoy, even revel in; making evolution "happen"!

Hey, wait...that's.... prizeless, isn't it? Oh bother!

"I'm poor."

I say this alot. I deserve a smack in the face. A punch in the gut. A black eye. A bloody nose. I'm not poor at all. I live in excess. What the hell do I know about poverty? I haven't gone a night in my life wondering if I was going to eat the next day, or worrying about whether I'd still have a place to sleep.

We boarded the bus, bound for Port Stephens, and I shook myself out of my irritable mood. The best was yet to come for certain. 99% chance of finding dolphins, the pamphlet boasted. As we sailed off into the bay following a small pod of dolphins, I found as quiet aplace on the boat (read: small cruise ship) as I could, and closed my eyes as the sun and wind played over my face. This was much better. Much more to my liking.

The first day in Vietnam I went on a field trip to 500 different religious sites. OK, it was more like eight places but it felt like 500. We went to a Mosque, a Church, some Buddhist Temples, a Cao Dai Temple, and even the site of some Ancestor Worship. To be honest, by this point in the trip I've seen so many religious sites that I think if I see one more Pagoda I'm going to barf.

The basilica of St. Mary Magdalen in Vézélay, France, is one of 812 sites whose "outstanding universal value" wins them inclusion on UNESCO's World Heritage List. The church, a Benedictine abbey, has been a pilgrimage site for more than a millennium, thanks to its possession of the saint's purported relics, which it obtained shortly after its foundation in the ninth century. It was also an important stopover on one of the four major routes through France to the greatest of all pilgrimage sites in Western Europe, Santiago de Compostela in Galicia. The present structure was built in the Romanesque style in the twelfth century. St. Bernard preached the Second Crusade there, and it was the point of departure for Richard the Lion-heart and Philip Augustus at the start of the Third.

HONORABLE MENTIONS - December's Hit Parade!
bobcat818 - December 7th 2005

While reciting that old nursery rhyme recently... I paused to consider that "SPICE" does not mean "SWEET".
When my girls choose to 'spice
things up'... they add more strength, more zest, a pungency or pepperiness, even a fieriness that was lacking before. In fact, I can almost guarantee that whatever they are concocting right now has plenty of "ZIP, TANG and UMPH" attached to it.

2005.

Intense.

That's what he said. Intense. "I don't create drama," he insisted. "I reflect it." And I wanted to scream at that moment. I wanted to hurt him. If I could have thrown something at him, I would have. I wanted him to feel how I felt, and I wanted him to admit once and for all that at least part of it was his fault - it wasn't all me.

Yep, you read it; today's post will be dedicated to teaching everyone on mindsay how to improperly calculate his/her basal metabolism.

First thing's first: What is basal metabolism?

Basal metabolism is defined as the minimum energy expended in a fasting state to keep a resting awake body alive in a warm, quiet environment. So, basically, if I were to sit on the couch all day doing absolutely nothing, the energy I would use to stay alive would be my basal metabolism.

Now that I can actually talk about it without crying, Amber's memorial service was beautiful. She has touched sooo many peoples lives that its almost unbelieveable.

Amber was such an inspiration to people because she just kept on living, she didn't care how much trouble she had to go through to live.

Dear Santa,

You must be surprised that I'm writing to you today, the 26th of December.

Well, I would very much like to clear up certain things that have occured since the beginning of the month, when, filled with illusion, I wrote you my letter.
