behind the times
Well this past weekend I read Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. That one really makes your mind think of possibilities.

Yes I know this is old news for some but hey I finally had a moment to dedicate to read.

Now I need to finish some drawings if I can get to that too.

Enthusiast, Okay?!
Today was regular.  It wasn't too shabby considering it was a Monday (bleh).  I started (re)reading Harry Potter + the HBP last night, so that gave me something to do in my extra time today.  I've watched Harry Potter + the GoF a few times already (we watched it in Algebra last week and everyone jokingly made fun of me for being such an enthusiast) and I decided I need to do some reading.  I almost went for the Goblet of Fire, but I've just read that one so many times.  So I picked Half-Blood Prince since I've only read it once.  I'm about 150 pages in so far.  Tomorrow is the begining of the end of freshman testing.  That doesn't make sense but really it does.  There's only 2 days left...anyway...I'm going to a lot of reading done because I have to sit in Spanish for 3 hours.  Lammme.  But at least I'll have a good book.

Moving on.  John has already called me like 4 times today, so I'm starting to feel a bit more confident in him.  He's having a really good time seeing the sites and whatnot so far.  I guess he's having a good time and I should be happy he's getting to have this expirence.  Sure...

Some random thoughts before I go:  If I hear one more person say something about how great Chuck Norris is...I will kill them.  That was funny in the begining.  Quite funny, actually.  But it died.  It's dead now. Enough!

I'm almost to 1,000 entries :D

Lastly, we started learning about Mime today in theater, so be nice to me or I will put you in a box.

Ginny/Harry Potter Relationship Analysis: Why This Ship Is Wrong!

Ginny Potter : The Analysis By Clare Ann

In a book as popular as Harry Potter there must be romance. Everyone cares about love triangles and J.K knows how to exploit this. Recently she has called people who support the Hermione/Harry ship delusional and asked for us to re-read the books. She may be right but it is her own fault. She could clear everything up but she has not. What Half Blood Prince did, is apparently decided once and for all who stays with who at the end. We will examine the Ginny/Harry relationship chapter by chapter. Try to keep an open mind.

I.Chapter Five: An Excess of Phlegm

Ginny appears for the first time in HBP in Chapter five: An Excess of Phlegm.

"Ron's younger sister slouched into the room, looking irritable. "Hi Harry"

Notice how she is described as irritated (as with we all know she feels this way because Fleur is getting married to Bill) Ginny enters the book with a negative attitude something that will remain for the rest of the book. Ginny will be found irritable by readers because her character has been changed so much, she actually is almost like a new character dropped on us without any consideration.

"Its her" said Ginny plonking herself down on Harry's bed" "She's driving me mad"

Here we go again with the lack of character development. Ginny who was once nervous around Harry (and who supposedly never gave up on him-see later chapters) gains the sudden confidence of a rock star. Also notice that Harry didnt pay any special attention to Ginny. This was the moment where JK could start the development of the ship to make it look realistic. She missed the opportunity and drops the Ginny bomb on us on later chapters which leaves readers wondering what the hell happened? Any ship that does this is not written correctly or maybe it was what JK intended (here we have the love potion speculation, where evil slughorn made Harry fall for Ginny in order to distract him thus causing what happened at the end of HBP-the will and wont theme) This kind of relationship doesnt have any precedent at all in English Literature.

"Its the way she talks to me-you'd think I was about three!"

Ginny is really mad at Fleur. But she comes off as arrogant when she makes this comments. Maybe it is because she is jealous of Fleur's beauty because inside she really is insecure. How could someone like this be the life partner for Harry?

"Oh, that's right defend her," snapped Ginny. "We all know you can't get enough of her"

This is again the jealousy monster coming out of Ginny. This is also a clue that she is not really over Harry and that she used Dean in order to get Harry( Poor Dean).Lets recap:

Ginny=Jealous,Arrogant,Extremely Confident and manipulative( using men)

Then we being the whole Mother-Daughter Discussion.

"Mum hates her" said Ginny quietly.

Again nothing positive. Ginny wants to make sure that her hateful comments get through.

"Including you and Dad" said Ginny slyly.

We can add Sly to the list. That how Ginny and future soul mate of Harry defends herself. Is she really in gryffindor? *Slytherin*Cough*

"A Cow" said Ginny (Refering to Fleur)

Do you remember when was the last time you call someone names? Yes, when you were really inmature just like Ginny!(If she is indeed Harry's Soulmate hopefully she'll grow out of this stage she is after all a teenager)

"Do you really want her around forever"?Ginny asked Ron. "Well, Mum's going to put a stop to it if she can, I bet you anything"

Thats a great idea! NOT. Ginny has complete disregard of Bill's and Fleur's feelings. She is selfish and only thinks of whats best for her.

After this they discuss the Tonks scheme. Hermione acts as jealous as Ginny when Harry mentions her abilities. After this Ginny scornfully snaps at Harry. This is again Ginny's manipulative nature. Harry instantly wishes he hadnt spoken. Ginny and Harry are not equals. They dont even have compatible personalities. In a Ginny/Harry relationship Ginny would wear the pants. The only common bond they share is Voldermort (and that isnt a good bond to base a relationship of) For Ginny Harry is a prize. She is a fan girl.

After this Mrs. Weasley asked Ginny to help her with lunch.

"Im talking to this lot! said, Ginny Outraged.

This gives me a great mental picture of a self-centered teenage girl. I dont really see any similarities with Lily.

Thats all for now. Im currently writing the next analysis for the rest of the chapters. Ill post on analysis daily until the breakup of Harry/Ginny.

Ch. VII: The Slug Club
Great comments, everyone:) Remember: no spoilers beyond the end of the chapter. As for the rest of this post, you don't have to read it to comment on the chapter, so have at, if you want!

Also, and I will repeat this announcement for one more post, JST @ Mindsay is having a discussion, "Is Snape Evil?", on his blog--go tell him what you think! Warning for those who haven't read the end of the book: spoilers abound.

Is it possible that Draco Malfoy has succeeded his father as a Death Eater? What do you think? He is really very young to be joining the ranks already, but it doesn't mean he hasn't got the aptitude, and he certainly has the family ties to do that sort of thing . . .

I like it that Harry isn't ashamed to be friends with Neville and Luna any more--remember last year when he wished that he could be sitting with "cool" people on the train? That sooooo bugged me. Now he seems to be growing up a bit:)

Neville has a new wand, too, which is cool, as wands say something about the person who uses them--Neville's is cherry and unicorn hair. Luna is still her usual self, though; thinking of the Wrackspurts:)

And the infamous McLaggen is introduced here! I wondered when he'd come in--he was quite an anticipated character.

Slughorn seems to be keeping in company with the next generation of rich and talented people again--but some of them are questionable, and Slughorn himself seems to be trying to pry information out of Harry.

The end of this chapter is particularly gruesome--we always knew Malfoy would do something like that if he'd had the chance, and now he has . . . I am surprised Harry was so careless, though. It doesn't quite seem like him.

Ch. VI: Draco's Detour
Hallo! I know I'm a bit ahead of schedule, but I thought I might speed things up . . . remember: no spoilers, and if you post rumors, post your sources!

JST @ Mindsay is presently hosting a discussion, "Is Snape Evil?" on his blog; go tell him what you think!

Moving right along, now, both in time of posting and in the time in which it takes for them all to get to Diagon Alley and Hogwarts, here we are at chapter six. This is an odd one because the so-familiar places are now very much changed by the disappearances (and in some cases, deaths) of some of the inhabitants.

I love the description of Fred and George's joke shop! This was one of the biggest things I was hoping to know more about after I'd finished book five. I have to say I think I'd like to try the Daydream Charms just for the fun of it, though I think the Skiving Snackboxes would be useful when classes start up again.

Curious too, I wonder how Malfoy got away from his mum? The book says it would take a "real effort to free himself from her clutches".
