Sick of Being Sick
Just about a month ago I posted this blog where I talked about how sick I have been since quitting smoking. In that post I said, "I sure hope this isn't going to get increasingly worse since we're now passing into the winter months." Turns out, I probably shouldn't have tempted fate like that.....

I have been seriously sick for the past eight days. Seriously sick. Not just "I have a cold" sick but running a fever, chills, dizziness, too weak to get out of bed kind of sick. Very little fun as it turns out. I did, while laid up in bed, visit the CDC's website relating to H1N1 out of morbid curiosity and this is what I found.

Symptoms include:

Fever* - ???
Cough - Check
Sore throat - Check
Runny or stuffy nose - Check
Body aches - Check
Headache - Check
Chills - Check
Fatigue - Check
Sometimes diarrhea or vomiting - Check (at least to the first part)
*not everyone with H1N1 gets a fever

As to the fever, I may have had one. I never checked it but I was feeling warm and combined with the chills.....who knows?

So, I am not at all hypochondriacal and I am not assuming that I had H1N1 but I guess I am not ruling it out either. I didn't go to a doctor (no health insurance and since I didn't work for a week and don't get sick pay.....you do the math) and I don't believe in self-diagnosis. There are just too many variables. But I could tell that this was more than the common cold and since I did have ALL the symptoms. Yeesh.

Well, I am back at work today. I do not have a fever and many symptoms have subsided. The stuffy head and the cough are persistent. Also the fatigue. I get worn out by going to the bathroom. But I need to get back to life and so I am trying for a "mind over matter" thing here. I'll let you know how it works out.

For those of you keeping score at home, this is now the SIXTH illness I've had since quitting smoking; which is eight months ago--today. Happy Anniversary to me!

And in other housekeeping:

My little buddy, Dylan, turns 2 years old today. Happy Birthday Dylan!

He's the little blond guy with the fauxhawk. That's his sister Jaysa and my nephew Simon also pictured.

In other news, Eastwick was canceled this week. They will be showing the original 13 and then no more Paul Gross for me. Sad.

And I just found this story online. Is that cool or what? Returning books from 51 years ago? Who would bother? And actually figuring out what the fine would be? I thought that was a cute story. Even though library systems max fines out at a certain point and just charge you the replacement cost for the book....no $745 fines. But still a very cute story.

Okay, I think that catches everything up. I'll try to keep up but my days are pretty much comprised of: sleep, take medicine, sleep, watch tv, sleep, take more medicine, sleep. Who wants to read about that?

H1N1 vaccines too little, too late; most people already exposed and immune
(NaturalNews) The Big Pharma frenzy over H1N1 vaccines has turned into a circus of hilarious medical quackery thanks to the fact that by the time the vaccines are available, most people will have already been exposed to the virus. Hence, most people will have already built up their own H1N1 antibodies, rendering the vaccine not just useless, but downright laughable.

Even with the outlandish rush to get these vaccines approved by the FDA -- a hurry that saw the complete abandonment of the principles of "scientific testing" -- Big Pharma just couldn't get these vaccines produced quickly enough to beat the virus itself. Taking a vaccine shot after you've already been exposed is medically useless. It's equivalent to putting on your seat belt after getting into a car wreck.

Even U.S. News & World Report, which is heavily funded by Big Pharma advertising, is now admitting the swine flu outbreak may be over before the vaccines arrive. It reports:

"Richard Wenzel, an H1N1 expert and former president of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, predicts that the outbreak will last another four to eight weeks before tapering off. In fact, some areas in the South already are seeing a decline in cases. Given that the vaccine will be produced in limited quantities on a rolling basis, most healthy middle-aged adults -- who the government recommends should be vaccinated after children, college students, and pregnant women -- won't be getting immunized before the outbreaks peak and wane."

Did you catch the significance of that last sentence? Most people won't be getting immunized before the outbreak tapers off. And that means the whole reason for getting the vaccine in the first place -- to avoid being killed by an exploding pandemic -- will soon be rendered pointless. Leave it to western medicine to act all heroic, pretending to be saving people's lives from a pandemic that's already on the way out...

Maintaining the illusion

Of course, infectious disease reality never got in the way of Big Pharma making a buck, so this inane vaccine push will continue whether people need it or not. All these vaccines have already been ordered and paid for with taxpayer dollars. Delivery is on the way, and there are no refunds. If cities, states and nations don't use all these vaccines, they'll look pretty darned stupid for buying them, won't they?

That's why health authorities everywhere are determined to use up these vaccines regardless of medical reality. And that means finding enough willing children and adults to be injected. Following that, as the swine flu pandemic fades away (which it was going to do anyway), all the vaccine-pushing health authorities can proclaim, "We did it! We beat the pandemic with the vaccines!"

But the pandemic was burning out on its own, without any intervention at all.

Of course, taking credit for solving problems they didn't really solve is nothing new to the vaccine industry. To this day, the drug companies credit themselves with eradicating smallpox, measles and yellow fever when, in reality, the historical record shows that it was primarily improvements in hygiene and public infrastructure that caused these once-terrible epidemics to wane.

H1N1

Ok, call me a worry wart. All this stuff I've been hearing how H1N1 has claimed more teenage lives than any other flu strain previously has me worried about anyone on here that hasn't heard that, that is in the 10-25 age bracket. Recently a relatively healthy teen in a local high school died due to H1N1. She wasn't the first.

So, I know some of you are in that age group that I talk to, or poke around in your blogs. If you read this, and are in that age group (why 10 yr olds would be reading this, I have no clue, but regardless), pleeeease go get a vaccine. do whatever it takes to stay safe - stay home if you get sick, go to the doctor if symptoms persist for more than a few days or get worse over a week, wash your hands frequently, sneeze/cough like Elmo, whatever.

(side note: Why the heck are some of the suggested tags for 'H1N1', "teen age slut"?? How does that correlate?)

Doctor's Note
There is a space. Intangible, certainly, but the effects are not.

This space attempts to answer the question of how sick a student must be to miss class.

On the one hand, we have that common sense suggests that if you have any of the following symptoms,
A fever over 100,
Too much nausea to allow you to drive,
Gushing mucus from your nose (and possibly other orifices)
The sort of cough that suggests that your lungs are fighting with their inlaws again.

...you probably should not be around people. You should be home. In bed. With fluids. And possibly homework.

On the other hand, you have the instructors who insist that the only way you're going to miss class and not have your grade suffer for it is with a doctor's note.

I don't know what most students do. I can tell you what I've done for most of my life, which is to only go see the doctor if it's plain as day I won't get better on my own. Didi once expressed, "What do I need a doctor for? All they're going to do is tell me I'm sick and charge me $400. I already know that."

This is by no means to suggest that we disrespect doctors. Rather, that we only really want to make use of them when we really need them. If I have fractured something, or maybe if I took a fastpitch to the kidney (anytime there's blood in the urine, you at least call the hospital, and drink your cranberry juice), then yes, a doctor will likely be in order. If I have a flu, well, I'm going to curl up in my bed with a giant stack of books and homework, drink enough fluids to fill Dickens' busted wine cask, and sleep. Doctor can't help a whole lot there.

And the result of that space is a certain vengeful sort of student. I'm not sure that the insist-on-a-doctor's-note* instructors realize this, but they're setting themselves up for a kind of bioterrorism.

"Gosh, I knew I wasn't feeling so hot, Mr. Keller, but I really couldn't afford to go to the doctor, so I had to come to class anyway. What's that? You'll be out sick the rest of the week? Wow, that worked out nice, maybe I'll get a chance to recuperate, too!"

Doodle-doodle-ee-doo.

*One of the funny things about living in this town - they will specify that the doctor cannot be a family member. :) It's a hospital community. More than half the students have parents or siblings who are Mayo staff.

THE SWINE FLU…,
Is It Actually A Naturally Occurring Disease?

OR

IS IT ACTUALLY MAN MADE?
Is It Something A Lot More Diabolical?

Part One

Hi Everyone,

I started writing this some time ago and had just kind of put it off to the side because I didn’t have access to a PC to get it posted here.

Now that I have access to a PC I’ll try to get it posted before another bolt of lightening hits my power pole again, but due to the fact that I went on a tear and got a good rant going this sucker got kind of long in the tooth so I’ll be posting it in two or three short posts instead of one long one.

Most of you know that I had really fucked up and had almost killed my fool self awhile back.

I’m not proud of what I had done, mainly because I was always the one going around and stealing the drunks keys so that they couldn’t drive until they sobered up for at least eight hours.

Anyway, that one single act of extreme stupidity, drinking until I was ½ assed blind and then racing all around the fricking back woods and down the levee road on someone else's crotch rocket has caused me to have to make a of a lot of doctor visits over the past several months. Well, over the past year and a half actually.

Anyway, I have learned one hard fricking lesson from my experience and now wish to impart some sage advice to all of you fuckers out there who think that it’s cool to get all fucked up and drive…, DON’T DO IT!

I promised my guardian angle that I would never again take so much as one single drink, and then operate anything with a motor or engine on it again, not even a cordless screw driver Boo.

OK, *pointing down* so this is where this post starts.

I would like for any of you guys who have gone to a doctor during the past several months to pay attention here and really give this *pointing down again* some thought.

Several months ago I had started noticing that every fricking doctor that I was going to had started asking “Have you had a cold lately?” “How about a sore throat?” “Or any trouble swallowing?” and “Have you been running any fever lately?”

Well Boo, I was left wondering “What the fucks going on here?” and thinking “This shit ain’t normal.”

I know that those are all fairly simple questions, and most people will just say “So what, you were at a doctors office” and let it go at that, and never give it a second thought.

Well, I’m not your average bear, nor an I like “most people”, in that I’ve been trained to notice things that are even slightly out of place or are out of the ordinary, like a man with super smooth hands claiming to be an oil field roughneck, anyway, for some reason I found those questions from the doctors to have been a bit queer.

I mean I found myself thinking “Give me a fucking break here doc.” Shit, I’ve been seeing most of these same doctors for at least the past five fricking years, and NONE of those suckers had ever asked me those questions before Boo, not even when I had walked into there office blowing my fricking nose on a god damned tissue.

Anyway, all of a sudden and out of the fricking blue, about four or five month ago, every last one of the doctors that I’ve gone to has asked about colds, sore throats, difficulty swallowing, and fever.

And I’m wondering what the fuck is going on. I know that there are some of you reading this who haven’t started putting any of this together yet and are still thinking, “Well you were in a doctors office Wendy, and the flu season probably wasn’t over yet.”

That’s cool, I’m not knocking you for that because most people in the United States still haven’t caught on to what’s been going on yet either.

OK, so give this some thought, all of that had been going on for several months BEFORE we had heard about the first case of the so-called “Swine Flu” making it’s appearance in Mexico.

Hum…? So now have you started connecting the dots? Not yet Boo?

Did any of you notice how that shit spread across Mexico like wildfire? I bet you did.

Next, did any of you notice how the Mexican health officials handled that health emergency when they realized that they were staring a full blown flu epidemic in the face?

I did! Shit…, I was surprised at just how fast those suckers shut down just about everything in their entire country in an attempt to control the spread of that disease.

I mean it was like they shut down all of their government office buildings, public transportation, schools, and restaurants, along with all of the other public meeting places overnight. And they took one hell of a financial licking for doing so.

Shit, those fuckers even canceled one of that countries biggest holidays, “Cinco De Mayo”, and lost tens of millions of dollars in cross border revenue in the process.

I’m here to tell you that the Mexican government got busy, and in a big fucking hurry too, and had done what was necessary to halt that epidemic or to at least slow down its rate of progress, and they had done that as fast as they could too.

Now kind of take a step back and look at the fricking way that our very own elected leaders in Washington D.C. were acting during that same length of time.

It seemed like all of the members of both houses of congress and that mother-fucking Kenyan in charge or the fucking circus in D.C., that we jokingly refer to as our government, were all stumbling all over each other, trying to be the first one in front of the TV cameras, while trying to appear as though they knew what the fuck they were talking about, and trying to make it appear as though they actually gave a fuck about you and me, while they passed some fucking law that gave away another BILLION or two of our tax money to fight this great threat to our national health.

That seems to be pretty much the way that Americas politicians handle any national emergency…, throw enough of the tax payers money at it, and hope that  it’ll go away.

I’m not all that good with my US history, because most of my history lessons were taught to me by my history teacher, in a motel room, after class, and with me either on my knees or on my back, however, I do seem to remember reading something about a “Swine Flu Outbreak” somewhere back in the 70’s.

So ah Googling I went and I figured that you guys just might want to check out “This” March 24 1976 article by then President Gerald Ford.

Pay particular attention to where that disease was first reported, and to how fast our government threw 135 million dollars into a nation wide “Inoculation” campaign.

I also think that you should also pay attention to where he said; “The reaction to the shot, I am told, may mean a few sore arms for a day or two--a very small price to pay for this vital protection.”

Because unless I’ve got my president’s, Flu’s, government wasteful spending, and dates all fucking wrong…, wasn’t THAT the same fricking flu vaccine that had  KILLED something like 500 or so, otherwise HEALTHY, Americans who took the CDC’s, the WHO‘s, the HEW‘s, and their fucking presidents word that that vaccine WAS SAFE for use on humans, and took the god damned flu shot that our government was pushing on everyone that year.

Ah yes, that was a very small price to pay indeed. I mean what’s a measly 500 dead Americans if our ‘industry’ can score $135 million in tax payer donations for their efforts?

And here’s the real kick in the old nut sac…Boo, unless I’m sorely mistaken there were never more than one or two “confirmed” deaths in the United States that were attributed, directly or indirectly, to that so-called strain of Swine Flu.

Hum…? And for what it’s worth Boo, I think that bugger had H1N1 in it’s name too, but I might be wrong about that.

Anyway, back to the here and now…

Next comes the “Elite” brain trust at the CDC (Center for Disease Control), the big bad assed morons that are supposed to be in charge of looking after the Public Health in the USA, and are supposedly in charge of handling this type of threat to the citizens of this nations health.

Those sad-assed mother-fuckers looked, and acted more like the cartoon characters in “The Key Stone Cops” ® comedies of the bygone days of the old silent flickers.

Did any of you happen to notice how they kind of made a big fuss about it right at first, then started acting like it was all a big assed fucking joke on Mexico once that fucking Kenyan had given away a couple of billion of our tax payer dollars to ‘the industry’ to fight the H1N1 Swine Flu threat, and started playing it down here in the United States as though it was something, that although it might have been bad, they didn’t think that it was bad enough for them to worry about?

Instead of doing what should have been done to protect the health of the citizens of this nation, legal or otherwise, like shutting down our borders and mandating medical screening of everyone before being allowed entry into, or back into the United States if they were a US citizen who had been traveling abroad.

They should have mandated quarantining, for at least two weeks, everyone attempting to enter this country with a fricking fever, just like Mexico and China were doing.

They should have mandated that all schools, all government office buildings, all public transportation and all public meeting places in any city, county, or state where there had been even one confirmed case of that virus…, the same way that the Mexican government had done in an attempt to curtail the spread of that epidemic in Mexico.

But did the people charged with looking out for our health do any of what they were supposed to do, or should have done?

HELL FUCKING NO! Instead they just sat back, gleefully watching it, as it fricking spread all across our entire nation.

Shit, they just threw their hands up, waving for people outside of our borders to “Come On In” to show that we were opened for business as usual SO THAT WALL STREET WOULDN’T BE AFFECTED, and with the help of the national news media actually started making fun of other countries, like Mexico and China, because they had done what they knew needed to be done to at least half assed insure the safety and health of the citizens of their country.

Next comes this question; Did any of you happen to notice how that fucking disease seemed to jump our borders from the North, South, East, and West, pretty much all at the same time?

*J.M.H.O.*

END OF PART ONE

So let me know what you think, good, bad or indifferent it doesn't matter just as long as you make your views known Boo.
