Guy Fawkes Day @ MindSay

Oh, that Guy Fawkes
The ol' gunpowder plot gag eh?  Now I remember.  No, actually I don't, but after a quick wikipeda search on it, maybe I will in the future/  Weird how they named the anniversary "Guy Fawkes Day."  If they had caught Timothy McVeigh before he blew up the Oklahoma City building, would we have a "Timothy McVeigh Day"?  Probably not.  Of course, there is probably something more to the story that I am missing, but I really have no interest in furthering my knowledge on some silly Brits in the early 17th century, the ones that stayed accross the pond anyways.

(no subject)

I really wanted a good desktop day calendar.  One that tells you some quirky things everyday, a little fun fact to get started in the morning.  I got the freakonomics one because it was on clearance for one dollar at Barnes and Noble, 90 cents after my membership discount.  That's a little less that a quarter a day if you do the math, so there definately is bang for the buck.  I just wish that I would get more interesting topics than the ones this thing gives me.  I mean it is interesting to know that 30% of African women think it is acceptable for a man to beat his wife is she burns the food, but why can't you tell me something useful, as opposed to the fact that Africans are just a tad behind the times.  Like I didn't know this already.  Someone get me a good page a day calendar for next year.  Start looking now, because I want the perfect one.  And if you get me a goddamned Jeff Foxworthy, or Larry the Cable guy or 365 Uses for Duct Tape one, I'll slap you in the mouth.  As a matter of fact, if you get me anything Larry the Cable guy, you get two slaps.  I know you might be thinking, why should I get this asshole anything?  I'll tell you why.  I will give you a nice handshake and a thank you, and I will devote a post on mindsay to your greatness.  That is well worth it, if I do say so myself; and since I just typed this out, I did say so myself.

I've reached my 100th post recently, that's pretty good considering it appeared as if I would never make 50.  Thanks a lot Mindsay, because of your weird tag suggestions, I have to learn what "Guy Fawkes Day" is.  If it doesn't involve some sort of primate, it is by default disappointing.

Nov 5th remember Ron Paul and Guy Fawkes today

Nov 5th: Ron Paul Surpassed His daily Haul of $65K in 20 Minutes

Donations day for Dr Ron Paul
It’s still sad to think that all this money will be delivered,
into the pockets of radio, print media and tv stations.

The British version of Halloween is Guy Fawkes Night,
November 5th. Guy is a well known anarchist who tried
to blow up the British parliament, with everybody in it,
 on November 5th, 1605.

As much as the English love democracy, Brits and Scots and
Irishmen often say with dry humor “Guy Fawkes was the only
man who ever entered Parliament with honorable intentions.”
