The school has one of the most diverse student bodies in the United States. Its students hail from more than 160 countries. Baruch is particularly noted for its Zicklin School of Business (ranked 25th in the country, and the largest collegiate school of business in the United States) and named after financier Larry Zicklin and his wife. Although the school is most known for its business programs, the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences, named after former Philip Morris president, George Weissman is also part of Baruch, as well as the School of Public Affairs.Razoreye Media Group
By the 1930s, women were allowed admission to the School of Business. The total enrollment at The City College of New York reached an all-time high of 40,000 students in 1935, and the School of Business had an enrollment of more than 1,700 students in the day session alone. Most of these students were Jewish and Italian immigrants, who could not afford or would not be admitted to private universities. The School of Business was renamed the Baruch School in 1958 in honor of alumnus Bernard Baruch, a statesman and financier. In 1961, the New York State Education Law established the City University of New York (CUNY) system and, in 1968, Baruch College became a senior college in the City University system.Stealth Detective : Monarchy to Republic
The monarchy ruled France until the French Revolution, in 1789. Louis XVI and his wife, Marie Antoinette, were executed (in 1793), along with thousands of other French citizens. After a series of short-lived governmental schemes, Napoleon Bonaparte seized control of the Republic in 1799, making himself First Consul, and later Emperor of what is now known as the First Empire (1804–1814). In the course of several wars, his armies conquered most of continental Europe, with members of the Bonaparte family being appointed as monarchs of newly established kingdoms.

Measure out: one part Hollywood; six parts traffic; a bunch of rich power-moguls; stir in half a dozen colonial relics (use big ones); pour in six heaped cups of poverty; add a smattering of swish bars and restaurants (don’t skimp on quality here for best results); equal parts of mayhem and order; as many ancient bazaars as you have lying around; a handful of Hinduism; a dash of Islam; fold in your mixture with equal parts India; throw it all in a blender on high (adding generous helpings of pollution to taste) and presto: Mumbai.STERNON MAGIC HILLS

Their restaurants cover everything from coffee shops to fine dining and specialty outlets and the standard of service is on a par with the best in the world. The night-life is equally varied, with many bars, pubs, discos and nightclubs open until the small hours.

Check all avenues of finance and be aware of Banks offering you too much lending. It may sound nice that a Bank is willing to lend you lots of money based on your present income (salary multiple) but what happens if you lose your job. Regardless of being fired or worse through serious injury, illness or death, you will still have to pay back the money you have borrowed. Unfortunately your bills do not die with you so it would be prudent to get some form of Loan Protection to ensure this issue is covered in the event of the unthinkable.STERNON MAGIC HILLS Apartments
With your wits about you and armed with a sense of humour, souk shopping can be entertaining as well as profitable. The sheer variety of goods available is bewildering. Stores teeming with the latest in electronics stand comfortably alongside huge fabric houses offering silks from India. Cut-price hi-fi tapes and discs are a favourite buy.Somewhat incongruously, in the midst of this treasure trove of 20th century materialism, lie small booth-type shops where the traditional goods of the east can still be weighed and measured. Spices brought in by dhow from India, Sri Lanka and Zanzibar permeate the air, and perfumed oils are stored ready to be mixed to personal demands. Delicately woven carpets lie strewn for detailed inspection, weighty hookah pipes fill available corners.
Today started out with this strange game of ‘Pass the Grumpiness’; but it was thankfully pretty much gone by 1st cash-in. A did PHENOMENAL during reading instruction today. OH MAN. He’s getting so much better, both actual reading as well as his reading attitude. We read a story about a kid who wanted cookies and did crazy things to get them, and then he was even willing to do a story map on it. Not just ‘I’ll dictate to you, you write it down’…he wanted to do some of the writing, too! And (for him), it was done really neatly! I was kvelling!
I then realized around 10 that even though it’s testing week for the 5th graders, I DID have somewhere to be at 9. OOPS. I stayed with AB from 10 – 11:30 to make up for missing my first half hour. He did awesome, too. Kinda silly at some points (he was also CRAZY fixated on Wyoming’s state bird while we were working on his research project), but even though he was kinda unfocused and some of the work was hard, he was able to get it all done before lunch so he didn’t have to miss recess. That made him feel excellent, and I did, too.
Lunch I sat w/ A, until I saw D and E with trays leaving the room. I reminded them they needed a grownup with them, so they asked me to go and I said I would, but that before they could go to recess, they had to bring the trays back. Had some good lunch talk, and then at the start of recess, E asked if they could wait and I said no, and he took it. D was much more grumbly.
Group was okay; they were rude when Jerry started out w/ his usual ‘who am i? Why am I here?’ stuff, but eventually, E settled in and started to work on the scenario he picked out for us. D took longer, but FINALLY, all 4 of us were trying to pick which 7 items we’d want to take with us to survive a 5 day hike up a mountain. Took some bargaining, but we were able to get things doneSo…I GOT THE PHONE CALL TODAY! They called my cell, apparently at 5:31 and left a voicemail. It ended with Michael saying, “and everyone please…think spring”. WHAT A TOOL. He reminds me of my HS principal. Namely, the day he got on the intercom to say, “let me tell you all what’s going on right now: It’s raining”. Unfortunately, I had my cell phone off (my phone is pretty much ALWAYS off), so I missed Michael AND the ever diligent/amazing Claudia calling to say those dreaded words: TWO HOUR DELAY. So let me wrap my head around this: snow day Monday, whole day Tuesday, two hour delay on Wednesday, and then half days Thursday and Friday for parent/teacher conferences? Why did we even come in this week? AGAIN I didn’t get to start my new routine. I went to sit with AB in Sue’s room from 10:54 ‘til 11:08. She was much warmer to me today; rubbing my arm and joking a little. She doesn’t hate me, yay! AB was good; gave him his check-list book.
Wish there was more to report. A had a pretty big tantrum; they’ve been a lot more severe lately. Conversely, D has been pretty much comatose all week; quiet, unresponsive, unwilling to leave the back table; eerie. He had a few flare-ups this afternoon, cursing/splashing at A at recess and then storming inside, and then during Jerry’s group, trying to control and yelling at everyone (especially E) for not going with his idea immediately/not understanding his non-explained plan. Got a little heated, but eventually, we did it! We got the toxic waste over to the bucket and poured it out!
Bonus, today when I went to consult with Grace today, she'd brought her daughter in for the 45 minutes of school before lunch, and I finally got to meet the amazing and talented Rose! Ohhhhhhhhhhh my G-d she's amazing. She's small and adorable and oh yeah, she can read and decode and comprehend on a 2nd grade level. She's 3 years old. Incredible. She's a little book worm; when she started to act up today, Grace sat her down in a chair and said, "if mommy has to count to three, you're going to bed tonight without any books!". THAT was the punishment. Wow.
