Gratitude @ MindSay

Thank you!
Friends
Just want to thank those who have been appreciative of my work here in Mindsay during my short stay. I had finished reading the blogs in my inbox and decided to visit Top Blogs and was pleased to see my poem at the top of the list for today.

Thank you so much for those of you who have voted.  I haven't gotten into the habit of doing it yet, but if I appreciate great writing or a good topic, I will definitely vote as well.

It is great to see support in such a close knit community as this one!

I have great, great friends so far and I do not regret coming to Mindsay; just the opposite is true!

Shivon, the Irishlassie.

Thankful
Well, as you know, I spoke about the invitations that had arrived and all that, and that I was going to try to write addresses and so on.  Well, those were certainly famous last words, but my husband, during his long wait for my three hour operation and during recovery and visiting times, got them all done for me with record speed. He is the more organized of the two of us, and treated me royally while I was so sick...better than usual.

He bought me a portable dvd player so that I could watch a movie or two while having to lie down in bed...because it hurt too much to sit.  He brought food home so that I didn't have to cook and was just generally a darling, looking after me so nicely.  I am grateful to have such a caring man! :)

I am a bit tired of not being able to sit on my rump, but it is getting better with each day. I hope I can at least go back to church on Sunday. My post op is on Thursday and is only down the road, but Lawl still has to come and take me since the doc gave me specific instructions not to drive, especially my little Geo Metro which is like a log wagon to drive, not having power steering.   I am sure to get a good report...and more pain killers I hope...they sure do help to relax me and help me sleep ...most of the time.

I thank you all for your loving thoughts and replies during this time, and even worrying about me when I didn't get back quite in time for your liking!

I am going to go outside tomorrow for a while; may even take a blanket outside and lie in the shade.  It has been over 84 in this apartment and seems there is no relief unless one finds a cool spot...so we'll see.  I like being spoiled and loved, so in that way, I have definitely enjoyed the last week...I am a glutton for love and attention, as you all know!

I thought I had something else to say and I just seem to be rambling...so I'll get off of here and if I think of what it was, I'll blog again later.

God bless you all
Love you more than you know

January 2, 2009
Ok, I can tell that this gratitude journaling is not going to be a daily occurrence, will have to be grateful for as-often-as-possible... which is more my style anyway... don't like to buy into anything that has guilt attached!

Actually watched a movie at home tonight without falling asleep- even put my feet up! Watched Gone Baby Gone- convoluted mystery with Ben Afleck's brother.... pretty interesting show- NOT an "everyone lives happily ever after" ending- thought provoking.

Will get pictures of our Hawaiian adventure up on photobucket soon- I thought today... looks like tomorrow, hopefully, but school work is starting to press as well, I find that I haven't lost my propensity for procrastination.

Here goes on Gratitude Journal Entry #2 (I expect these to get lighter and more mundane... which is ultimately more effective, I would think)

5 Things I am thankful for today:

1. That I spend most of my time in an arid climate where my hair does not fuzz up into a hood that I cannot see through (Hawaii hairstyle was mostly pulled back and tied!)
2. That my BlackBerry finally let me download gpx files from email directly onto the memory card... meaning more remote geocaching options!
3. That I do not have to drive in the snowstorm that is expected this weekend
4. That most food packages have "best used by" dates giving me a way to decide what to cull from the pantry and fridge today
5. That I can sleep until mid-morning for a couple of more days before the alarm will once again ring before the butt-crack of dawn!

On a scale of 1-5 ... hmmmm 3.5 maybe ... still too cold to have much fun, but relaxation is a definite perk!

No picture today, I think.... which is another resolution I would like to try- a picture every day for a year... think it would make an awesome slideshow ... may have to settle for a picture MOST every day... or fudge a bit on the first couple.

Just went to look at what pics are still on the camera... the final one of us on the beach in Kihei with the sun setting behind us ... just hours before we flew home... nice. Need to round up cords and such though... think I will call it a night and do that all tomorrow.... Good night!
