Friends, Food and Birthday
I feel like all we've done this weekend is eat, but with Garrett's parents in town it's usually one big food fest, which is the funniest thing because his parents are the tiniest people I know. Garrett took a half day Friday and me and his folks met up with him at Maxim's, our favorite Vietnamese restaurant. Then, that night, we all went over to Mike and Annmarie's (kikuye) to hear about their trip to Japan and to see Annmarie's parents who were in town for the weekend. Garrett cooked his infamous lamb, it was tasty, tender and oh so succulent. We rounded out the meal with roasted potatoes, sauteed sugar snap peas, grilled asparagus, rosemary bread and gravy. Yes, we eat well around here, and it is fabo having a husband that cooks like a 5 star chef. How else can I keep up my voluptuous figure!?! To top it off Annamrie picked up one of those gigantic Costco cakes for Norma and Serge's birthday! We rolled ourselves out of there around 10 pm, went home, went to bed, all so we could get up this morning and do it all over again. Nah, not really, we did go to the gym this morning to work off some of our gluttony from the night before. It didn't matter because we then went out for lunch at Postino's and had bruschetta, panini's and salad. Is it any wonder that it's 7 pm and I'm still not hungry. If anything will be eaten it will be a piece of Norma's coconut cream pie that she made for herself for her birthday (I would have offered to make it for her, but I do not do pies well). I knew there was a reason I married into this family :)
