Glbt @ MindSay
It should be a given, the right to marry whom ever we please...but it's not. If we allow the government to say who we can and cannot marry then what will be next? What if they try to take your freedom to choose ?
We simply have no freedom when it comes to our own bodies and that's scary and it sucks. We don't have the freedom to end our life if we are in constant pain, they're trying to take a woman's right to choose away, we can't choose who we marry, smoking pot should be a choice, how we dress, where we live etc...
Now, right now , none of these things affect me , but maybe someday it will. And even if it never does...right..is right.
So I will shout now and stand with the GLBT community and help them fight! They deserve the same rights as every other American, to choose whom they wish to marry! To be who they are!
The treatment of the GLBT community in the so called "bible belt totally infuriates me!
I don't understand why all these Christians are so damn homophobic! I am a "straight" great grandma and I don't feel "threatened" by gays . Maybe it's because I don't have the "love of Jesus" in my heart.
Except, I don't recall Jesus ever saying a word about homosexuals.
But apparantly that "love" makes you paranoid and predudice. I'm ok with most everybody no matter what sexual orientation, race, or religion you are unless your religion infringes on the rights of others.
It pisses me off that people have to "stay in the closet" because of fear of how others will treat them, especially
young people. Don't they have enough crap to deal with already? I can't even begin to imagine how a person feels to "come out" to fundamentalist parents! Holy crap it must be like a t-bone facing a pack of hungry wolves! Why can't they understand being gay is not a choice? I'm not gay...but I get it...why can't they??
You see I hate fish, I lothe fish nothing you can say will make me like it!But I love tukey! My husband on the other hand, loves fish and can't stand turkey. Why? because we are different! You cannot make me desire or like fish no matter what you say or do....my preference is turkey!!! If I have a choice between the two, I will choose turkey. But if my only choice is fish.. I will do without! It is the same for gay people. If you listen to that crazy bible then you are to kill your rebelious children, and kill adulterer's (ok.. now most of you are dead). You are also supposed to sell everything you own and give it to the poor ( ok...there go the rest of you).
What does your heart tell you? These are your children, your neighbors, family and friends. They are people , human beings , who deserve the commpassion , love and equality given to all other human beings!!
As for me I say "Come out, come out , where ever you are!" My name is Becky, and I'm glad to meet you!
.
Well, my previous blog was mysteriously deleted...just disappeared one day. I had put so much effort into it that I am somewhat overwhelmed by the prospect of re-creating it. So, I think I'll just shorthand it and try and remember the highlights the original had, and we'll take it from here. Life is a mystery. My original username was LadyChalice, but when I signed back on to try and re-use that name I was told it was already taken...so they kept my name but deleted my account: go figure! So, my new username is RedHotChalice. I chose "Red Hot" because of some projects I've been working on that use that tagline. And, also, because...well...not to be immodest, but I really am red hot! I create websites for incredible writers and artists and am passionate about my work. My most recent projects have been the most rewarding and I'd like to share them with you. www.RedHotNovel.com is my most recent work-in-progress. It is for a novelist named Devin O'Branagan and is her latest effort: a novel called RED HOT PROPERTY. It is a serio-comic tale about the real estate industry and is a terrific, amazing book. The website isn't completely done yet, however. We are in the process of filming a YouTube video based on one of the funniest scenes in the novel, and I intend to include a link on the website to it once it is up and running. We are also planning some unique product tie-ins to the book and will have an on-line store. This novel will appeal to gay people, animal lovers, single moms struggling to make a better life for their kids, anyone in or around the real estate industry, Trekkies, and people who just want a good laugh and/or a good cry. Lots to share about the making of video, but will do that later. If you want to see this website and learn more about the book go to: www.RedHotNovel.com. See you there!
One of the things I like best about Devin O'Branagan's latest novel, RED HOT PROPERTY, is that she once again deals with the subject of persecution. Valentino DeMitri is a gay, Catholic man who is not allowed to practice his religion because of rules of the Catholic Church. She told me that the character was inspired by two gay men she encountered in her life.
The first was a gay man who was so tortured by the fact he had been told that God hated him because he was gay, he committed suicide. Devin had tried to assure him that, in her view of such things, God loved everyone and what mattered most to God was each individual's capacity to love others. But her assurances to Andy didn't outweigh the unloving pronouncements of those in authority in his family and in his church. God bless Andy's soul...
The other was a young man who used to come to Catholic mass every Sunday and simply stand at the back of the church and cry. He would slip out when communion began. Devin asked the priest about the young man and was told it was because the church wouldn't allow him to practice his faith, because he was gay.
Appalled at this medieval way of thought, Devin makes a strong, emotional case for the rights of gays to practice whatever faith to which they feel drawn.

.In case you were unaware, all homosexual, bisexual, transgender, or "different" persons, otherwise known as "them queers," are asked to wear blue on this day. Also, all heterosexual supporters (Ha! Like those actually exist...) are asked to do the same. This is a very happy day for the GLBT community...
.Outside of Mississippi.
.Within Mississippi, it's like most people, reading the article in the Daily Mississippian yesterday (shock me, shock me) decided to avoid the color blue entirely. I left my dorm this morning proud to be wearing a blue polo, blue socks, and blue boxers (That last bit was entirely by accident). And then, sadly, I noticed that I saw no one--not even a friend of mine who is extremely passionate about GLBT rights--was wearing blue. She had forgotten, but everyone else? I don't know...
.There were a few people. One of my professors was wearing a subtle navy. A gay man who works in costuming had a blue floral shirt. A guy I know whose roommate is gay had a bright blue tshirt. But the most supportive person I saw all day is actually (allegedly) straight. He was wearing a blue Brokeback Mountain tshirt. I chuckled a little.
.Now the point of the day... to feel support from the community so closeted "faggots" can come out freely...
.Yeah... I didn't come out to anyone. And no one came out to me.
.But I did buy Baked Cheetos and peach soda!
.That probably isn't good enough. Well, there's next year.
