Glasses @ MindSay

serving customers water?
sorry about slacking as of late; hasn't been much to say (a relief to many of you, i'm sure).

work at the restaurant tonight got me thinking about a few things, because we weren't busy at all, which has unfortunately been the trend lately..so, my job is basically as a host/phone answerer/order taker/mini bartender, i.e. basically everything except actual waitering.  so, one thing i do involves keeping water glasses for customers brimming.  now most of the time, you just go up and grab the half-empty glass (yes, pessimist), flip it up all fancy-like with the ice-included side-pour, and they don't do anything and carry on with their conversations.  this is the ideal, expected behavior.  occasionally if we're coming back for a second or third time of you're almost done eating, we'll wait for a second for you to pause, and inquire politely, "would you like more water?" whereupon you may graciously decline, or accept and hand me your glass.  and then there are the times you get the people who, upon seeing you coming and/or filling someone else's glass, hurriedly drink theirs down to save you another trip..or just drink a little bit, because your being there reminds them to do so.

or, there's the ones who ignore you when you give them water and don't say thank you, as long as you aren't reaching all the way across the table (and their line of sight).  and then there's my favorite kind, the ones who actually stop talking while you grab their water, and watch you..because you're so amazing!..or they actually just stop talking when you're clearing the booth next to them, as if there's something super secret a random busboy at a chinese restaurant they happen to frequent that might be disseminated to the absolutely wrong individuals!

..or i'm just too busy trying to get better at faking smiles to improve my customer service skillz, so i smile when i say thank you over the phone, because you can hear it in my voice.

Another Photo Shoot

I didn't have an appointment with Dianne today, as it's been arranged for tomorrow.

Thus, I was sat in college from half 8 until 3 before I actually had a lesson.

That's what comes of saving a few pounds on bus fare by getting the free bus - one must sit around and waste one's life away.

It wasn't so bad though - I met up with Michaella, who was purely in college to get away from her mam.

I sat with her for a while, talking about her ex boyfriend and how she misses him - and all this.

Nana had given me a little bottle of cherryade to take along with me - we drank that together, then were really shocked at the increase in our heart rates.

I had a hyper burst after this - I bought some crisps and a Snickers - I was getting bored and stressed, so as I do - I eat.

Shelly came in pretty early - she came and sat with us.

I told her I wasn't angry at her about yesterday - we kissed for a while.

There was this lad from Yorkshire who was sat with us too - one of Michaella's friends, and when he saw us kissing, he blurted all of the names for lesbians he could think of:

Dykes, rug-munchers, carpet-lickers, drinkers of the furry cup - all those. :)

They amuse me, lmao. I often say them to Shelly herself. It's ironically hilarious.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We were just about to head in to town after their A block lesson - when I told Shelly that we needed to tell Ash while we had chance.

We both stopped - and Ash carried on, until she noticed that we weren't behind her anymore.

We'd stopped beside a table, and we were giving her the look that said 'we need to talk to you'.

Ash knew, asked us if that's what it was.

I was that afraid of telling her, I gnawed on my fingers until they were bleeding.

Instead of telling her directly, Shelly sort of danced around the point - made Ash work it out for herself.

As soon as it'd been said, Ash held out her arms to me and I cried on her chest for about 10 minutes.

Lewis had came about halfway through the confession - and he later told me that Ash was almost in tears herself when I was crying on her.

It's something I've always wanted to do... It's very comforting.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For Photography today, I'd had to bring along my blood and the frozen ox heart again.

When we walked in to town, I hung it on the back of Ash's chair.

The heart weighs about 2 stone defrosted - so it's a lot heavier frozen.

We indulged in our usual munchies - I've reverted back to my chicken mayo and cress epic sandwiches.

The turkey and cheese ones were nice for a day when they charged me the right price - but when they charged me more, they stopped being tasty. :)

Back at college - before Photography, Ash started to zoom off alone, I called after her:

"Ashleigh! Come back here with my heart!"

Then I pissed, because that could be taken literally, or metaphorically. :D

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I couldn't be arsed dealing with the knobs in the class - but thanlfully, none of them said anything anyway.

I took my stuff along to the art rooms and set up my little area.

Which looked like this:

White sheets of paper set up on the table and a clipboard behind, with a spotlight.

Nana had put my blood in that Fruit & Barely bottle to save me carrying around the big beasty tuppaware box. It's easier to keep in the fridge too.

I was asked about three times by randomers in the art rooms about what the heart actually WAS.

One of them thought it was a brain. It looks nothing like a brain, but whatever. :)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The photos I took were pretty similar to the ones I took on my first and second shoots for my sketchbook.

These ones are going to be used as a part of my collage - my final piece.

Here be two of the better ones:

Before I cleared away my workstation, Ash had earlier agreed to take some photos with me for something I plan to make on Photoshop later tonight or tomorrow.

I shall post that when it's finished. :)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back in the Photography computer room - I was uploading the pictures I'd taken, and I saw an opportunity to take some photos of us together.

I love having stored images - decent ones, espcially. I like looking back on them. (But only if they're decent...)

This be a sweet one of Shelly and I.

I'd previously told her to leave her glasses on. I find women so much more attractive if they wear glasses.

I'm not attractive - but I look BEYOND SHIT if I don't wear mine. They make me look semi-decent.

She's in the light, so she looks paler than I am - which isn't how we are.  :)

Maybe I'll faff with the levels on Photoshop. It looks a bit funky because I took it on the macro setting.

Well, it WAS close up... :P

FINALLY, A DECENT PICTURE OF ASH AND I.

Asides from the one I use for my blog banner - I haven't had a single decent photo of me with Ash.

Now I have one. :)
