Geocoin @ MindSay

Missing
Well my fourth trackable item ..... my dragonfly geocoin is now gone.

With the rest of them.

I'm seriously bummed out ...... Smiley

Every one of them gone ..... poof .....

Oh well, I really should not of expected anything else ..... this is my life.

TUSK
Fleetwood Mac was the exercise music of choice today.   A nice sixty-five minute workout.

Dave came in and sat down for an early lunch while I was sweating away.  The song "Tusk" comes on ..... I glance over his way and he's tapping his feet .... bopping in his chair to the music.

"Prince?" he asks.

"Fleetwood Mac." I reply

"I was close." he says

Yep, its fun getting old ..... I wonder where my Prince CD is ????  Hummmm .....

Purple Rain would be an awesome exercise motivator .....

Off to Medford tomorrow.

A day away from here is needed.

Saturday is Dave's birthday ..... 62 ..... and we will be in Mt. Shasta for a geocaching event at their local Round Table Pizza.  They have an unbelievable salad bar and the thought of it has me drooling.  And now that the weight loss has hit 10.5 lbs. I am treating myself to a beer or two, too.  Yep, I am.

And if the weather is good .... maybe find a few caches too .... yeah.  I'm also sending off my dragonfly geocoin ..... now that he is permanently on my shoulder it will be easier to send it off on its journey.  So far my other geocoin and my charm travel bug have been muggled (taken) ..... at least I'm fairly sure they are gone according to the logs.  So it was very hard for me to think of letting this one go.  But it's time for it to do just that ...... bring happiness to others they find it and move it on.

I was also given another coin recently for helping out a fellow geocacher in Iowa .... so I will probably get that one going as well.

I'm feeling extremely mixed the last few days.  My thoughts have been all over the place.  This distraction on Saturday is much needed.  Some old friend geocachers and lots of new friend geocachers seem to be saying they will be there.  It should be fun.

Well .... once again, although I've wished her well already ..... a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to tattooedjen ..... !  I hope your day was wonderful.

Peace.  J.

Geocaching Saves Lives
Well .... sort of ....

Our local news out of Medford reported tonight that some folks out lost in the snow found a box that happened to be a geocache.  On that box were the coordinates written to where they were.  They were able to call out and give the search and rescue people those coordinates and were found shortly thereafter.

I wonder if they put it back properly where it belongs ????  Smiley

So .... I have made a decision for the memorial tattoo.  I will have it done this spring once we have a steady income again.  But for the time being ..... I really had this dragonfly idea in my head and it just wouldn't let go.  But I wanted something special .... blueeyedtawni and cllecr had both come up with some awesome suggestions and up until this morning I've been thinking of a design to go with.  Then I looked over at my little filing cabinet next to the computer and there sat my answer.

I'm thinking cllecr may recognize this .... I love it .... and the design is perfect.  It has been emailed (like that is really going to help) to the tattoo dude and I am waiting for an answer ....

That's it .... night all.

Peace.  J.

Moving Forward
Well things just keep moving forward ....

Tomorrow I will attend a water safety course at the local pool in order to take the girls swimming. It will be from 8:00 am to 10:00 am .... this is an outdoor pool and the forcasted temps for tomorrow morning are 34 - 36 degrees. Nice time to go swimming ... ??? No ???

Then I will work a shift for someone who can not work tomorrow .... not off till late afternoon ..... sometime. I have a real schedule now too .... just won't know what it is until tomorrow.

And the coin made it to Seattle, WA yesterday ..... it's fun to see it move so quickly after being stagnent(sp) for so long.  The gentleman that has it now seems like my kind of wierdo ..... quite the sense of humor.

I'll be finishing up my geocaching presentation for the girls (making copies for each girl) and putting pictures of my adventures in a scrapbook that was used at my interview.

School starts on the 20th and I'm very excited.  The butterflies come when I think about it.

I'm also trying to get my "Nancy & Me" post up ..... still digging for pics ..... somehow most of the pic's ended up loose in a box .... I have yet to ask mom where the photo albums went ....

Well, off to get something done.  Hope everyone's Wednesday is a pleasant one.

Peace.  J.

Coin On The Move Again
Well the coin was picked up again .... and where it ended up is totally cool.

It has been placed in Portland, OR at the site of the very first geocache ever hidden.

This is where it all began.

On May 3, 2000, a five-gallon bucket was placed right at this very spot by Dave Ulmer, containing Delorme Topo USA and 2 CD Roms, a cassette recorder, a "George of the Jungle" VHS tape, a Ross Perot book, 4 $1 bills, a slingshot handle, and a very famous can of beans (now the O.C.B. T.B.!) The coordinates were then listed on the Internet and modern-day Geocaching was born.

The first finder of that first cache was Mike Teague, who took the money and left some cigarettes, a cassette tape and a pen.

Although that original bucket was severely damaged by an Oregon Road Crew mower and is no longer around, TEAM 360 and many other concerned geocachers recognized the importance of that event which happened here and dedicate this ORIGINAL STASH TRIBUTE PLAQUE on behalf of cachers everywhere.

As crazy as it sounds I'm very excited about this.  I almost feel like a part of geocaching history.  Yeah, I know... I am crazy but can't help it .... born this way.

Starting to dig through some photos of myself and Nancy to write the next post on the life history stuff.  Went shopping today ..... wrote up some simple to the point lessons about llamas ..... they (the girls) want to come visit them ..... and a simple easier to understand explanations of geocaching ..... hoping that this is something they will want to do.  Need to pick out some pictures ...... and list the different craft projects that can go along with this sport ..... scrapbooking, making signature items for leaving in caches, maybe a webpage dedicated to the house and this sport .... but that will be awhile ..... they have to move up a level or two before any internet access.

Want to go and hide a cache later today ..... it's been windy, cold with rain showers the last two days.  But have laundry to finish ..... we'll see.

Hope it's a wonderful Tuesday for all.

Peace.  J.
