Game Review @ MindSay
I like the game, honestly.
-The incorporation of the other Zeldas was great.
-The graphics were okay.
-The weapons were incredible.
-The story was good.
-The gameplay was okay.
However...(This is where I might spoil things)
For the amount of time that was spent making this GameCube game, you'd think the story line could have been more in-depth and well-planned. As the player of the game, I feel I was thrown into this world of Hyrule with no true description of anything that was going on. Yes, things in real life are suddenly sprung up us, much like when Link transformed into his beastly wolf self, but, in taking the part of Link, I want to be him. I want to feel his essence in my gameplay, his spirit. I want to know who he is, who I am, and where he's coming from. How can he be named "Link" if there is no true bond between him and the player? I felt no connection to him in this game. There was nothing felt for Midna, as there should have been. The connections in the past (Navi, Tatl, and so on) felt real, like I was actually losing a friend when they parted ways with Link. This game lacks emotion. With the Princess Zelda.. She was tossed into the game too soon, and in a cold fashion. The first three dungeons were GREAT. You learned a little of the town's history, and about the inhabitants, and you go, and you "save the day." Then.. what happened? Did they forget that they were making a game? Did they forget about the people and the troubles? Sure, there were a few small details, but, I need substance. I want to know who and what I'm fighting for, like in Ocarina of time. You find out what's going on, and why, and what you have to do to fix it. That's what I love about that game. And.. NO GERUDOS... Are you kidding me? I feel like I'm babbling on here with no true purpose, because words cannot describe how much disappointment I have for that game. My SN is ZELDAN. That should tell you that I'm *somewhat* of a fan of the series...
The gameplay was okay. Not too much to complain about, other than the fact that, hey, not hard enough!! I'm not 12 anymore. Two minute battles aren't going to make me lose hearts anymore. I enjoyed playing the game, but, perhaps a "medium" or "hard" mode should be available for those of us who call ourselves "gamers."
The ending is what really set me off. I honestly would not be here in this forum right now, bickering, if it were not for the ending. The story, nor the gameplay, nor the graphics (which are great for what was supposed to be a solely GCN game!) were enough to upset me much, because, if there is to be a sequel (which I haven't heard about.. but.. hey, who knows?), you have to leave room for improvement, right? Anyway, the ending was HORRIBLE!!! I think I missed something. Yeah, I know, you have to wait for the credits to roll to see the whole thing, and I realize that there isn't too much you can do with an ending in a game, but, it all boiled down to THAT? Hello! I just saved the world. Midna loves me, and Zelda probably does too. Midna could have at least stolen a kiss, or something. And that's not even the worst part. I'd much rather have scenes about what happened to the towns people afterwards, and what is to come of Hyrule, and .. Ganondorf saying he would kick my butt (because I'm not too sure he's dead), than a kissing scene. Some kind of confirmation that I did well. Something.
The game was great. Don't think that it's not. I just don't understand how people who could develop such a beautiful and wonderful game could produce such a lackluster ending. If this is what Zelda has amounted to, maybe it should just stop here. And don't tell me "sthu, u couldn't do better," because I know I can't, but I also know that I could have written a much better ending.
I would like to apologize to the fanboys/girls I offended, but I'm not going to. I am a huuuge fangirl of Zelda, and this is my opinion. I shouldn't have to apologize for feeling.
Deus Ex is a very unique game. It incorporates wonderful gameplay with an intising stroyline. This game also bent the game genre by combining RPG style charactor development with a first person shooter twist. This game allows you to designe a charactor with the skills in which weapons you choose and other non-combat skills that you would find most useful. The game is very open and allows you to choose many different ways to get to your objective and how to get it done. Wanna kill that bum? go for it... wanna sneak in the vent system un noticed? its all you... wanna bust in with a flamethrower and scorch those bastards to a crisp? have at it... Every thing you do effects the game world and how the story developes. I find it quite possible to play the game over and over again and always find something new or a new way to do something...
The game has 4 difficulties and i have beaten it on all up to hard, there is also a "realastic" option, but i'm sure thats insanly hard!
In the game you can choose from 5 different classes of weapons to master. You can choose from pistols, rifiles, heavy weapons, explosives, or melee weapons. You can also master non combat skills such as computers that will allow you to hack into ATMS and security systems, or lock picking tha will let you break in silently. You will also be able to use augmentations that will enahance you natural abilities makeing faster, tougher, aim better, more resistant to hazardous wastes, swim longer, and many others. There are four grades to each augment and skill. You can find augmentation canisters in the game to give yourself new augments. You gain skill points by achieving certain goals in the game.
The story puts you in the shoes of a nanoaugmented agent named JC Denton. (and for you noobs that means he has mechanical properties, but not to the point of being cyborgish. Human with upgrades is the best description) JC starts out working for UNATCO but quickly learns there is more to UNATCO that just keeping america safe from terrorists. I'm not going to spoil the story line for you because it is so great. It is highly doubtful that you will ever find this treasure of a game in any store, so if you wanna know more about the story then i will gladly tell you! Ahhh hell i suppose i can go ahead and tell you more, but if you don't want this to be a spoiler skip the next paragraph and skip it hard, DON'T EVEN LOOK AT IT IF YOU CAN HELP IT!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So JC learns that UNATCO is actually working for a group of conspiritors knows as Majestic 12. MJ 12's goul is global domination through fear and manipulation. They have produced a horrible plauge that threatens the world. Through this "nation emergency" they have taken hold of the governments of many different nations. Luckliy for them they also produce the cure for the plauge, so the world is a at their mercy. JC teams up with the terrorist that he was once fighting against to help free the world from MJ 12. The story goes on and you meat other memebers from different organizations and learn more about how MJ is nothing more that a corrupt group of power hungery bastards bent on world domination.
Hehe, this is a matter of opinion here, but this game is very fun to play on DXM. The music is awesome and the story can be very very involving. :P not recomended for beginers :P
It maybe just me, but there is something very very strange about this game, and its not just because of my drug use. This game has been strange long before i ever ingested any mind altereing substances. I dunno how to explain it, but once you've played it, you may never look at the world the same again :P
Oh and i do beleive that the government cut off sale of this game because of how it show the high possiblity, and how easy it would be for a global tyrany to take place. This game has opened my eyes to not believe everything you hear and see on TV or the media in anyway, mind-control...
