I know something interesting about Jake's trade to Tampa.......
They don't have rights to Jake.
Denver does.
Explanation: When Denver traded Jake Plummer to Tampa Bay, they assumed that he would play for them and cooperate. To tick off Shanahan and Tampa, he retired. Thereby breaching his contract with Tampa and technically not making the trade. So the team who traded him still has legal rights to him. That team just so happens to be the Denver Broncos.
My theory: Jake most likely knew this when he was traded and so what could possibly prevent this from happening? Retirement. Well, in his case, he thought that if he made it seem like he actually was retiring (which meant, he'd have to move back up to his home state, Idaho and all that) then the media would be out of his face and they wouldn't suspect him. He figured, this way, he'd be out of the spotlight and Denver would still have rights to him so he wouldn't technically be a Tampa Bay Buccaneer.
Shanahan must be in on it too.....why else would he have given Jake 7 million dollars?
