I don't like to get into political arguments, but I love the stupidity of public policy. Here's a great one.
In Texas, we recently changed the definition of a murder victim from "a person who has been born and is alive." to "a human being who is alive, including an unborn child at every stage of gestation, from fertilization until birth." They avoid calling abortion a homicide by pointing out that doctors are not culpable for legal medical procedures.
But if parents don't sign the consent form, the procedure is considered illegal, and therefore, the doctor can be put to death.
I mean, that's the real abortion punchline. Right-to-lifers will kill people who disagree with them. That's just funny. I mean, you can fill books with your rationalization and reasoning, but in the end, if you kill people because you're opposed to killing people, you're just funny. Your whole argument is thrown out. You're just a punchline.
Of course, the next step would be a doctor hiring a bodyguard who shoots a right-to-lifer assassin. Then you would have someone killing someone else who was trying to kill someone in protest of killing. Wow, the levels are staggering. Keep it up, guys. Now that you've lost the moral argument, the rest is just funny.
