Melaka were rich in history with it glorious Melaka Sultanate Empire before conquered by The Portuguese,then Dutch and British. Remnant buildings by the Portuguese, Dutch and British can be seen in Melaka.
One of the famous site left by the Dutch were the Dutch Square or also known as "The Stadthuys".. bUILT IN 1650. It was an official residence of the Dutch governor.It now houses the Historic Museum and Ethnography Museum which has many traditional bridal costumes and relics on display. The building in this area display the Dutch architecture.
All the building were painted red including the Dutch Church and Clock tower. Since all the colour is painted red, the area was also known as MELAKA RED SQUARE!!!
....and one memorable Queen's Victoria fountain were the place for a memorable picture ...almost a must by foreign tourist and visitor taking in Melaka. Previously..there are a lot of pigeon at the place....where picture taking were more interesting with the live birds..but there is no more now...?
Lining the red building were sourvenier seller as well as "Beca" or trycle for the visitor to try..!
While trying to get a photo of a butterfly, I happen to turn around, and see this fountain. It looked like a fountain of youth.
Periodically, the stone will need to be restored. Perhaps a proper maintenance program was not followed, or the type of stone you have is not suited to the conditions it receives or for other reasons, the stone just isn’t responding to maintenance. How often this will need to be done is difficult to determine. The restoration process re-hones the stone to remove deep scratches and is then re-polished. Do not attempt the re-honing process yourself. A great degree of skill and experience is necessary for this task, so please call a reputable restoration company.
Kitchen Areas
Kitchen areas are hostile environments. Stone used in the kitchen should be as impervious as possible. Hardness, loh absorption and easy wipe-ability are primary physical characteristics necessary for long life and utility.
Bath Areas
Stone inside showers and around tub areas should be smooth and low absorbency. Polished surfaces require special care in wet areas. Think of stone installations in the bath area as you would a plumbing fixture - you want a smooth, easily wiped surface that is easy to sanitize and requires no special effort.
Hard water deposits can be very damaging to natural stone. If you have hard water you should soften it. Chemical cleaners should be carefully evaluated prior to using for compatibility with the stone. Never use acidic type cleaners on marble or limestone.
Exterior Areas
Exterior stone will weather sooner or later so expect some cosmetic changes over time. Polished surfaces show cosmetic changes rapidly in most exterior situations. Acid rain and pollution will attack natural stones - some more readily than others. Carbonate based stones are most sensitive, siliceous stone less sensitive as a rule.
