You know what amazes me?  It amazes me that people will make their situation out to be worse than it really is just to get sympathy from anyone, even strangers.  I mean, we all have our highs and our lows, I’m not discounting that but… holy moly people, fill the glass half full every once in a while, would ya???  I honestly have better things to do with my time that to listen/read about people that are nothing but negative all the time!  Quite frankly it’s depressing and I have enough of my own to last me.  Don’t we all?

I guess my question is, don’t you want good things to happen?  If you do, don’t you realize that negative thoughts are always going to prevent that?  Don’t get me wrong, everyone is entitled to a “woe is me” from time to time.  Life is not easy and has a tendency to throw some pretty wicked curves at us every now and then but do you really feel the need to complain about it… every day?!?!?!  As I think about this now I know I shouldn’t beat on people that use their blog/space as a place to vent or complain, it’s your personal journal and can be used however you see fit.  The way I see it though, if you’re looking for the attention you’re not getting elsewhere, you’re using it for the wrong reasons. 

I’ve been told that it’s the culture of the online world.  That people living in this realm are self absorbed pity freaks that just want to feel better by making themselves out to be something they are not.  I just refuse to believe this.  I actually have examples that this is not true.  Case in point, a friend of mine just quit blogging a few weeks ago due to some outside influences, she felt that her family and friends saw blogging as the reason everything in her life failed.  This is a woman that has her head screwed on straight (from what I can tell), provides for her family and has a good heart.  Her blog was not an ode to her worries, it was a creative though provoking journal that I enjoyed reading.  It is now gone but do you hear her complain about it?  No, of course not.  She picked herself up, dusted off and got right back into the game with her new set of parameters.  That’s life folks.

I live in a glass house.  There is no questioning that fact.  I’ll throw a stone from time to time but I’m just as willing to expect a stone thrown back at me if a nerve is struck.  I haven’t had it as tough as some of you.  Growing up, I was the kid that most of you said you hated but secretly wanted to hang out with.  I was the popular kid, the athlete, the socialite.  To a degree, that is still the role I play today.  I try very hard to be full of life, love and laughter as often as possible and hand out encouraging words and compliments as if they grew on trees.  Want to know why?  Because they do grow on trees.

Next time you’re feeling negative or like the whole world is against you, do me this favor.  Pick a day, any day.  Just one day I want you to think nothing but positive thoughts.  Every time a negative thought, feeling, or action occurs I want you to spin it to a positive as quickly as possible.  Don’t tell me it can’t be done, I’ve done it my whole life.  If you’re having trouble with a particular instance, hit me up, I’ll spin it for you.  Approach this technique with an open mind and if you do it, just for one day, you will see a difference in your mindset.  I personally guarantee it.  If you don’t see a difference, come over to the land of peaches and you and I will work the issue until it is resolved.  That is my promise to you.

In the immortal words of Forrest Gump, “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get”.

*** Side note… I’m headed over to msdania‘s “sleep over” party tonight.  I have no idea what it’s gonna be like but I heard there may be some hot chicks dropping by and… well… yeah, hot chicks.  So come on by and hang out, it’ll be good for a couple of laughs at the very least. ***
