Formal Dress @ MindSay

Baby loves the Phantom!

The Phantom of the Opera was fantastic!  Even baby could hear enough of the music, and kicked my ribs excitedly at the big cresendos.  I felt like I was in upper society, 99% of the people there were in formal dress, including Cal and I, I was lucky that Cal's mom had bought me a cute black maternity dress!

I'm glad that I was a 'virgin' of the theatre, it was awesome XDXD

Cal can now hear baby's heartbeat through my stomach without the aid of a stethoscope, and it kicked him when he talked to it with the side of his face to my belly :)

Thank god for tax returns as well, Cal's and my money worries are quelled for now :D

So Day Two begins at 6:30 AM for breakfast and then we take big buses the hour to our HQ where we are greeted by a marching band. There we have training sessions and merchant meetings so we can get to know more of the new stuff coming for Holiday. Here's a pic of me at HQ. Yes... it is the one I made my Avatar. I thought you might like to see it bigger. There is also a shot of one of the neat seating areas around HQ. After that we took the buses back to get ready for the big banquet and Formal. I love this 40's inspired dress. I've had it forever and it just cried out to be worn again. Once again here we are as a group. We had Laquisha Jones from American Idol come sing for us. She even did one of the songs from The Color Purple on Broadway where she will soon be performing. She was pretty good. Our company is a big supporter of things like the movie Hairspray and our VP actually wore the dress that John Travolts wore in that movie. They got the actual dress off Ebay. (sucky pic, the best I could get from that far back) They presented awards and about 9:30 they wrapped it up and set up the after party for us to dance the night away. I was faded pretty bad from the previous night out and didn't stay long. Next stop.... Home. I got up at 6AM Sunday to get my flight home. Mamajo picked me up at about 3PM. I am very tired.

well last night was my year 12 formal. overall it was a good evening. there were however a few hiccups throughout the day.

i started getting ready for the formal at 2pm when i went to the hair dressers. i loved my hair, however i had a few pieces of hair left down from the upstyle, they were curly, but the heat made them drop, but they still looked good.

i got home from the hair dressers at about 3.30-ish, would have been earlier, but mum had to pick nat up from school. i came home and went straight down stairs with all of my makeup and my dress as it was like 5 degrees cooler down stairs.

at about 4.30 i started to apply the makeup. it turned out nice, it took me a half hour, but the end result was pleasing. i got into my dress, put the shoes on and went up stairs, only to be harrassed by my younger sister (who was taking the photos) and by mum who controlled the video camera. i went outside and had photos taken with my family.

nina arrived at my house at about 5.15 and we both had photos taken.

at about 5.30 we left to go to the memorial park in wollongong to meet up with the rest of the clan to have photos as one group. it was sooo windy. most of the photos had everyone fussing of their blown hair.

we left abit after 6 to go to the formal at win entertainment centre. the pre-drinks wasnt too exciting, but it was good to see everyone with their parents and whoever.

abit after 7, the entree was served, then followed the main meal and then dessert. the food was nice, it was better then the food at the year 10 formal. there were alot of photos taken throughout the night and alot of twirlling done..lol.

nina, shezz, sam and i left abit before 11, on our way to coonies. mind you, my feet were now killing me. we got outside of coonies and waited ages to actually get in. but once we were in, we got a drink and hit the dance floor. my legs felt like lead, and it was so hot on the dance floor, and i wasnt too keen on people spilling their drinks on my dress. we moved to the other part of coonies to sit down. we pretty much stayed there the rest of the night.

i saw these 3 guys sit in a booth with this girl, who was with her boyfriend but he went to get drinks, and when he came back, the girl and the boyfriend left. the 3 guys were left in the booth. 1 of the 3 came over to our table and asked as if we'd like to un-bore their situation as there were 3 of them and at that time 3 of us (sam had gone to get a drink) but i explained that there were actually 4 of us and that would just totally imbalance the whole ratio of 3:3. i looked over at the 2 other guys and low and behold one of them was my next door neighbour!! haha..i cacked up laughing!

a moment later we were approached by a guy who soon become known to be tim, he had a bet going with his friends about why we were all dressed up, but he soon left when he found out that he won the bet. shezz left to get a drink and then tim came back over, sat in shezz's seat and said that he was keeping it warm for her, we chatted but when shezz came back he left.

nina and sam pointed out that tim had gotten up from his table of friends and went somewhere, so, they dared me to sit in his seat and say that i was just keeping it warm for him, and i did..suprise, suprise. but when he came back i got up and left.

when a booth was free we moved to there, much more comfy. we were then graced with the presence of angus, who was apparently scottish, hence he had scotch and coke..lol. he moved to australia when he was 13.

when angus left, we were soon rejoined with tim, once again. he pretty much stayed the rest of the night with us, with his friend mark and some random (colin) and steve (he looks like pedro) until he had to go. lets just say that the space between us soon shrank, with the encouragement from certain people....

when tim and his friends left, guys from our school came to join us. sam's dress ended up stained with jim bean, the floor soon flooded by alcohol, daniel got slapped by sam like 3 times..haha so funny and pranga's bottle got broken.

in the taxi on the way home, it was soo completely and utterly hilarious! the taxi driver, after finding out we went to berkeley, came to the conclusion that we were rebels or something..well he probably thought that we were skanks or something, well after what i was going on about anyway and what he just assumed..haha it was so funny! he gave us great advice! hahahahaha

sam is so hilarious when she is pissed! haha she falls all over the place..lol

we got home at about 3am, went to sleep about 4am and i woke up at about 7. so, 3 hours sleep, and suprisingly im not tired..lol

but i must say, that friends can be very persuasive! and overall, it was a great night.

black balloon

it's done! all paid for!

i went to studi-baker tonight in wollongong to get a fitting for my formal dress as it needed to have a "minor adjustment" but you know what they decided to fill me in on! that they dont do the adjustment until the dress is fully paid for. which i totally agree with because someone could get the dress altered to suit their body and then decide to cancel the purchase and then studi-baker are left with a dress that has been altered to fit a certain individual. so i guess it's better to be on the safe side and make them pay for all of it and then they make the adjustments.

so yea..ive brought it..but i dont get for like 2 weeks or so. but oh well..now i just have to buy shoes and jewellery and what not.

"baby's black balloon makes her fly. i almost fell into that hole in your life. you werent thinking about tomorrow 'cause you were the same as me but on your knees."

Pain and shopping and accomplishments
OMG I hurt!  I had a massage yesterday and told the lady that my rhomboids were rather knotted up.  Well, it's actually my serratus posterior superior, but that's beside the point.  She worked me over like you wouldn't believe.  I have much better range of motion, but my skin hurts!!!  I won't even think about the muscles under the skin.  They have a layer of fat to protect them, but my skin....!!  The side of my back that has chronic pain is improved, but still painful.  It always is....  But the left side is feeling nice and loose and sore!

I drove down to hubby's work today to have lunch and so we could go shopping for clothes.  It's quite hot in this area of CA and I was sweating to death INSIDE the mall.  That's just wrong.  Hubby didn't seem too interested in looking for clothing for himself.  I think he's going to wait till later.  Yanno, like the day before we're to sail!  I was looking for a formal dress for the cruise.

We had lunch at Friday's and then looked around the mall in Vallencia.  No luck there.  Everything is either for teeny boppers or "mother of the bride".  I guess I'm old enough to be MOB, but yuk!  I did find the powder makeup I wanted from Robinsons-May.....  My last chance to shop there before they turn into.... gasp  Macys.

I had already decided we'd cruise over to the Northridge mall if we struck out in Valencia.  Nice mall, kinda packed.  Not at all like I remember it, but it's been..... 14 years since I've been there and there was an earthquake in the meantime that damaged the place a bit.  Success for me in finding a formal!  A little place called Junes or something like that was chock full of formals.  Lots of stuff you'd see at some "fashionable" weddings out here.  Yanno, sheath-like dress with a hem that poofs out at the bottom making you look like a pinata (can't remember how to get the tilde over the n).

I couldn't get through the day w/out my sister making me some kind of insane.  She asked what I want for dinner tonight and it reminded me of last night when there was nothing even thought about, much less made, which necessitated hubby and I going out for dinner.  Poor hubby was starved and I was just getting off two calls for pts who had problems with their braces.  I told hubby to call and see if sis had made anything and she hadn't.  Her excuse was that I didn't tell her what I wanted the night before.  She went to culinary classes in RoP, she knows what we have to make a meal, she knows what I will and won't eat, but I have to tell her what to make or she can't do anything???  WTF??  When did this become the new rule around here?  I'm not going to claim perfection, but for 17 years I planned meals for hubby w/out having to ask him what he wanted.  Even if I didn't make a full meal, I would at least have something planned.  I would start thinking about it the night before or from the morning on.  I didn't wait till dinner time to go....  what's for dinner?  She just doesn't want to stir her ass from whatever it is she doesn't do all day while we're at work!

It's not like I haven't talked to her about these things before.  Like my pots and pans.  I cannot stand having the outside of the pot look all burnt and grubby and gross.  I just cannot stand it.  I  told her many times over the last 3 years that it bugs me and her reply is always, "What does it matter if it's the outside of the pot?"  It matters because it bothers me!  She's in my home and those are my pans and it bothers me, so I feel she should get off her ass and do something about it instead of moaning how she's only got boring videos to watch.

I got home tonight and the pots were cleaned.  I had done some of the cleaning the other night, but she did make them look much better and that made me happy.  In my opinion, if a pot or pan or dish or whatever feels dirty anywhere, it's dirty.  You cannot call it clean just because the side you're supposed to use is clean.  Does that make sense?  Just one of my weirdnesses since I have not got a houseproud bone in my body.

My Litte Dude is all snugged up along side me at the moment.  I'm kicked back on the bed with the laptop in my lap and he's got his legs all tucked in against my hip just snoozing away.  So cute.  His sister, on the other hand, is a pain.  I can't move w/out her thinking it's time to eat.

Hubby gave me a scare when we were at the Valencia shopping center.  He said he was feeling tight in the chest (I worry about his blood pressure) once we left the indoor area.  I thought I heard him wheezing and asked if it was his asthma or what.  He wasn't sure, but had to rest a bit.  I told him I had smelled something like jasmine inside the mall and maybe that was what was bothering him.  Prolly.  A puff or two on the inhaler and he was much better.
