Flamingo @ MindSay
We visited the new Flamingo Exhibit at the Woodland Park Zoo This Week..
This has been a week full of ups and Downs. But seeing as the weekend is here I think I will concentrate on the positive! We visited the Woodland Park Zoo on Tuesday and brought my Dad along, Jack was psyched to see the new Flamingo exhibit and it didn't disappoint. We all started the day in sweatshirts and ended the day in our shirt sleeves as the weather was actually quite nice.
Jack was so enamored of these guys that he sat on the ground just staring at them. It really was a breathtaking sight and well worth the trip to the zoo.
Jack was so happy to be hanging out with his grandpa. My Dad always seems to hate Tuesdays as it is the day before he returns to work but as you can see in this picture that is the last thing on his mind.
It was so great to see Jack enjoying time with his Papa.
This is my favorite thing to do with Jack, he just soaks up everything. It is such a delight to just be with him. I feel like the luckiest Mom in the world. I am sure all Mom's feel that way. I love that we have such a close bond.
I love this shot of the hippo. They rarely seem to get out of the water at this particular zoo so it is a real treat to see them hanging out on land.
Another great reason to bring my Dad along? He was there to get pictures of Jack and I together, now this is a rarity as I am usually the one snapping all of the pictures! He cut off the Hippo's head in this shot but I will let him off the hook since he got both of us in the picture:)
The Giraffes were in the holding area when we walked by and it was awesome! They were so close to us it was almost as if we could reach out and touch them.
I absolutely love this picture of the two of them. Can you tell that he is a Grandpa's boy?
This is probably Jack's favorite zoo animal sculpture at the zoo. The Elephant Baby. He kisses it every time he sees it. Yes I cringe every time being a Mom and thinking about Germs but I don't have the heart to stop him.
Is this not an adorable sight? I have to say I have felt like this guy more often then not. He was perched in a little holding nest and I caught this shot while walking across a bridge that is just above the Orangutan habitat.
This is my favorite location in the zoo it just says serenity to me. Jack couldn't get away to check out more animals fast enough!
Another of Jack's favorite sculptures the Komodo Dragon!
Here is the shot of the eagles I was telling you about Bruce. I told you your pictures were better then mine!
Grandpa and Jack clowning around...
A sweet little Panda Calf in the family farm. This is always our last stop at the zoo.
I hope you enjoyed our trip to the zoo! We certainly did.

Your urge to buy a lawn gnome is normal....
This is what the billboard at the mall says. The scariest part is it made me actually want to buy a lawn gnome even though one bit me once and I've never been able to look at them the same again.
The last few days have been, to say the very least, interesting. I've consulted with erinbear about some of the ongoing events, but now that she is drowning in the lake that used to be her apartment, (and actually phoned me last night to tell me that breakers don't control water flow) I figure I'll give her awhile to do some damage control. (or at the very least, seduce the cute boy downstairs)
Ah, so my run of willpower came to a not so fun end the other night. Will came with me because he said he just wanted to watch me do it. And then he did it himself. I asked, or begged I guess, him not to, but he did it anyways. This in itself freaks me out because I don't want him falling into the drugs as I'm pulling myself out of them.
Yesterday, being the good neighbor that he is, Ernie came over bearing paralyzers for yours truly. And come to think of it, right now I'm a little tipsy on sangria. (which would explain the nonsensical yammering) Anyhow, after getting me nice and tipsy on paralyzers, Ernie announced he was going to go see Gary. (Rough translation: going to go get high) So I went to go check on Jocelyn.
She is now sleeping on my couch....
Ernie came over bright and early this morning to see if I wanted to get high on anything other than life with him. I got drunk on sangria instead.
So back to my point. When you buy a lawn gnome, you are contributing to the problem. I see it as my duty to protect the rights of the gnomes (except that one that bit me, which actually looked suspiciously like Willy Nelson). Their rights are being infringed upon and they need to be liberated! Would you want to spend your whole life hanging out on the front lawn with the family pet and a bunch of pink Flamingoes? I didn't think so. Think about that next time you feel the urge to buy a lawn gnome.
