Fitness @ MindSay
I have my massage /fitness room...'finished'? LOL.. I have moved everything around in there 9 ways to Sunday and it still doesnt have the flow I want, and I know its cause of the treadmill and the gazelle in there. I have been fighting taking it out of there and shoving it in my tiny office room for just one day a week for my clients as a second location. I can't put them behind the screen, cause the room is too small. I took the tv out, cause that was too big.. I will buy a tuner for my laptop probably down the line and then I can watch tv while I 'tread'...
But I have a feeling , I am just going to have to take those two items out if it still bothers me. My husband says.. it doesnt bother him, and that it wouldnt while he was getting a massage. But he might have said that cause he was tired and didnt want to help me move my desk and rearrange my office area to accomadate the machines... lol!
What do you think? Could you come and get a massage and be ok w/ the fitness stuff in the corner? Especially since I am offering a 15.00 off gas saver discount for those who come here on Tuesdays? ( I have 2 clients for tomorrow and I havent even sent out the email to my clients yet about it..lol!) Or would it be so intolerable to have it there that it would ruin the relaxation aspect of the massage?
It's bigger than the room I have at the office I pay rent for... I would NEVER be able to use my fitness ball to work off of... I can't even get a small chair to roll around the entire table in that room :( Anyways.. feedback please :) First client here is at 1:30 tomorrow. If I get enough clients out here, I will look for another location probably cause I don't want to get into trouble or anything by doing massage out of my home. But for now, it's just for those clients that happen to be out in my area now...no new clients unless personal referrals.
Today was Mamajo's Birthday and I got her a little present and took her out for a mani/pedi. She enjoyed it. I also got my mani/pedi done as well as got my eyebrows waxed. As usual...Yowza!
ALSO... in the eveing I went out to take a look at the 24hour fitness down the block and wound up taking the plunge and starting my membership today... which also made me have to go drop even more cash on some new gym shoes and stuff. Wish me luck!
What better way to spend an evening than laptopping by the glow of the Christmas tree lights while watching trashy celebrity news, eating jujubes, kittycat cuddling and warming one's feet by the fire? It's that kind of nasty rain-soaked night that leaves your bones cold long after you've come inside. I woke up with a headache that Tylenol hasn't quite slain -- though it's taken the edge off, I can still feel the pain lurking on the sidelines, plotting its return. It occurred to me that it's probably the lingering effects of the wine I drank last night -- which is pretty sad, since I only had a couple small glasses.
On Wednesday nights my roommate and I have our "date night," which consists of having dinner and watching America's Next Top Model. We take turns cooking and buying wine with the rules that we have to try a new recipe every week and must give the non-cook the opportunity to veto the choice in case it's something they really hate (so far not a problem, since neither of us have met many foods we don't like). cricker81 outdid herself last night with Pork Tenderloin With Onion-Balsamic Sauce and light scalloped potatoes. Yum!
Working a split shift tomorrow with YMCA volunteering in between -- which means 14 hours divvied up between 3 gyms. Huzzah! With all that gym-time on my hands I better damn well get a good workout in -- I tried this afternoon, but my aching head and general wine-related weakness made it a write-off. Between a half-hearted half hour on the elliptical, a few lazy crunches and the feeling that one more push-up might result in total organ failure, I've had better days on the fitness front. C'est la vie!
Spent Saturday geocaching with my very pregnant daughter and 2 granddaughters. J's due date was yesterday- nothing happening- so getting outside and walking seemed just what the doctor ordered. It was 55 degrees with a storm expected in the evening- so time to get out and wallow in the sunshine! The girls enjoyed the treasures and this was the first time we had coaxed J along. We found 6 caches from micro to ammo can size. Since my photobucket account is full until I have time to go in and purge... these will have to be smaller versions of the highlights.
My weigh in was positive (or negative, mathematically!) - 2.2 pounds this week- was hoping for 3.... gotta keep working at it! I've been wearing my pedometer and was startled to see it read over 13,000 steps on a daily basis just from all the running around school. Thought maybe it was an error- surely I'm not walking THAT much. But yesterday, when I thought I was out WALKING all day- a mere 8000 steps racked up! Funny how our perceptions can be skewed from the facts. I figure 10,000 steps is about 5 miles for me. Have started keeping a log of steps, workouts and want to add measurements to give me some REAL points of comparison and celebration. When the going gets tough, it helps to see progress in some area! More activity has been making me more hungry lately and I'm trying not to feel deprived while staying on track. Need to get downstairs, workout, and give my metabolism that burst iliketiedye posted a reminder about. I didn't drag myself out of bed Friday morning and spent the day outside on Saturday but neglected the workout. Hot tub and crab dinner took priority... yum.
Meanwhile, Mom's not doing so well at home, evidently. Dehydration seems to be a real threat- and she isn't keeping on top of it- not drinking, not eating... diarrhea. B promises to get her to the doctor tomorrow- hopefully the snow and wind that is keeping them off the roads today will let up tomorrow. Hopefully she will start making progress again soon.
So many people in my family are facing major events in their lives right now. Me, I'm looking forward to exploring new sites next week on our Spring Break adventure. The snow started about midnight last night and the air is brisk and wintery today. At least these storms are feeling short-lived... hopefully Spring will prevail and the mud will be minimal for some offroad adventures in southern Utah a week from now.
