New Music.

I was bored and I got payed today, bad combination (god damn does this site need a spell check).

I went to Meijer (a totally awesom 24 hour super cool store that has literally everything). I bought myself a new portable CD player (I don't download because the way I look at it the artist has made the entire album to only buy one song would be like buying only a section of a Van Gogh painting).

And then I bought two new CD's.

Quess what... I posting more cut and paste picturesfrom google. Here are the two CD's I bought and the things I think of them.

My thoughts: Really god movie. Really good soundtrack. Coldplay, The Shins, and Simon and Garfunkel, need I say more?

My thoughts: I have been a fan of Pete Yorn since his first album. This is his third and completes his so-called "day in the life" (his first album was call Musicforthemorningafter [no that's not a typeo that's the title of the album] his second albun was Day I forgot. now we come  to the night). His new stuff is alot different from his first but still very good. Thius CD is alot harder then his other stuff and a little more expieremental.

any ways...

Thanks for reading,

Mark M

Another TSP Entry
Ladies and Gentlemen, I am motoring through this new album.

To quickly reiterate, the new album is called A Taste of Things to Come, and is fully instrumental. No vocal tracks at all. I was going to make it a 5 track EP, but if I did that, I'd be finished already. That's how quickly I'm managing to pump them out.

Because of this, it's definately going to be a 10 track album, with maybe one or two bonus tracks.

This is the current tracklisting, in no particular order. These songs are done:

Gas Man Evolve
Flying First Class
Serenade
No Dope for the King
Gothic Horror

As far as genre goes, it's mainly going to be Techno/Dance-based, because of the programs I'm using. I was trying to fight the system (see Calm as an example), but now I'm very prepared to go with the flow and see what I can make.

Also, I'm debating whether to release singles from this album. The rate I'm pumping tracks out, I'd be able to make B-Sides rather quickly. Still, at the moment, I'm not committing to anything.

Finally, album release date. Again, the rate tracks are being exported and converted, I'd probably be done by the end of this week. However, I'm then gonna start on cover art (front and back) for the album itself. If you want me to guess, around the same time as the Save CDS was due: last week of February/beginning week of March.

I'll keep you posted.

What is the "Perfect Album"
A few weeks ago plastic asked, "What is the perfect album?"

This is what the guy posting said:

I recently came up against a wall. While sorting my albums of music in the MP3 format, I came to the conclusion that for most, if not all, of the albums I own, there are only a handful of tracks per album that I love. Generally there are a few tracks that are passable and almost always several that are forgettable. This makes listening to an entire album or even mixes of albums set to random less enjoyable than if it was just the best songs per album. So I began purging tracks, saving only the best of each album.

Then I ran into a phenomenon, the phenomenon of the perfect album. An album in which every track is great, each one worthy of being a hit. An album with not a single song I would skip past and nothing mediocre or even average.

I'm only part way through my music library and I've only found a handful. But it piqued my curiosity. What albums would you nominate as a perfect album?

For me, I'd pick Brian Eno's Here Come the Warm Jets, The Beatles' Abbey Road, both Gorillaz Albums (Demon Days and Gorillaz), any Elliot Smith album, Ataxia Automatic Writing (really depressing), Eminem's Marshall Mathers LP.

The discussion on plastic generated 775 album suggestions. Check out The Perfect Album, according to Plastic to see what the final results are. Hint: Radiohead's OK Computer is no. 1

"Headfirst For Halos" -- My Chemical Romance
Well let's go back to the middle of the day that starts it all
I can't begin to let you know just what I'm feeling
And now the red ones make me fly
And the blue ones help me fall
And I think I'll blow my brains against the ceiling
And as the fragments of my skull begin to fall
Fall on your tongue like pixie dust just think happy thoughts

[Chorus]
And we'll fly home
We'll fly home
You and I
We'll fly home

Come on!

Well now I'm back in the middle of the day that starts it all.
I can't begin to let you know just what I'm feeling.
And now these red ones make me fly,
And the blue ones help me fall.
And I think I'll blow my brains against the ceiling.

[Chorus]
And we'll fly home,
You and I,
We'll fly home.

Now honestly that's what I said to her, what I said to her

Think happy thoughts [x8]
Think ha... wooo!
