- A few more distrations
Save is finished!
...Well, by finished, I mean that I finally have a track I'm prepared to call the "real deal".
Here's a quick lowdown of the three demos, and why they were ultimately not considered to be called the "Finished Instrumental":
Save (Instrumental Mix) The original version. I did originally like this, hence why it's not got a Demo number. I went off it though as I found out more about FL Studio, and realised that I actually had a plug-in that emulated a guitar. This original mix used the kinda guitar sound you'd get out of an organ instead, and I ultimately grew tired of it, wanting to start from scratch and get it right second time around.
Save (Demo 2)
This second demo was never finished. It was mainly created to gather feedback. Changes over the IM included the addition of a synth hook, which followed the same lines as the newly added guitar line (called Dire Straits). A piano was also added, though never used, along with an acoustic guitar line, which was to be used for the solo.
Nothing that was added into this Demo was kept for the third demo.
Save (Demo 3)
New drum loops, which were quicker to begin with before settling into the loop, which has stayed more or less the same throughout. Four new guitar sounds were used: Rythm, Bass, Metal (which was used as lead guitar) and a funky line, not present in this demo. This demo was just a taster of what would become the Finished Instrumental, because I wanted to show Mena it.
The Finished Instrumental will be on MySpace within a week or so. Work now shifts towards writing and recording the lyrics, though it seems my goal of having the single released in 2007 is back on schedule :p
I had an idea for a B-Side: A piano led track called
There's Always Light at the End of the Tunnel, though I'm possibly going to shorten that to
There's Always Light. It originally started off as a jokey EP title, but I decided to take the idea and try to do something with it, seeing as song ideas are pretty short on the ground these days.
To cut a long story short, here's what I think the chorus'll sound like:
And I know you'll find this funny,
But I have to tell you honey,
That there's light at the end of the tunnel,
There's always light at the end of the tunnel.
Yeah I know you'll think I'm crazy,
But I have to tell you baby,
That you will pull through just fine,
And when you do you'll be mine,
And you will.
The final chorus, which will end the song, has the same first part, but the second part ends thus:
Yeah I know you found me crazy,
But I had to tell you baby,
That you would pull through just fine,
And when you did you'd be mine,
And you are.
Yep. Took me about an hour to get that, and I've got an idea of how it'd be sung, too. Just need to add more lyrics to it, and a song structure, and all systems are go for that one.
Also, whilst talking Living Sedative, I've finished what will be track 1 of the album. Currently it's called
Favourite Bench (Introduction), though this will be changed. It leads into track 2 of the album, which is
Favourite Bench, and that song's currently in Early Demo status.
Only other song worth mentioning from the second album is
Pickups & Putdowns, which is another acoustic offering.
And finally, the You Must Create... side album.
YMC Demo 1, also known as the album's introduction track, is being renamed to
Interest, making the full track's name
You Must Create Interest. Work's started on
YMC Demo 2, currently working under the title of
Atmosphere (
You Must Create Atmosphere), and
YMC Demo 3 which, despite being just a drum loop at the moment, is being tentatively called
Hypocrasy, mainly because it's going to be somewhat hip-hop based, whereas Living Sedative is mainly going to be a rock based band.
Anywho, I'm tired and I need bed. I'll update you all fairly regularly from now on, though it might only be when tracks are updated.
