Feeling Blah @ MindSay

Howdy everybody!

Hey... It's the MySpace pose! :P

Bad lighting. It kept coming out dark when I was doing this pose. Oh well.

Oh, look at my bling!

Geez, I look so much like my dad on this pic!

MWAH! Love you guys!
Hey, so I havent really blogged much about how things are going really with me lately... Well, I guess you could say they are going alright, but I dunno..lately I've been just feeling tired and......"BLAH"....I guess I'm just stressed and everything about school and friends and stuff...family affairs are alright I guess. Things this yuear are alot more hectic..expecialy now since I havent been doing much homework...Tonight for me goes as following
-Finish this blog/the soup I am eating currently as an early supper
-Talk to Jessica about important issues that she needs to tell me about
-History homework
-Volunteer for an hour and half
-Finish the half-unit of science homework I havent done this unit, as tomorrow is the unit test
-Go to sleep (probably around 2 if I'm lucky)
It's my fault though about homework..I really do need to stay ontop of it..I just been having trouble with keeping up because I dont have initive for anything AT ALL anymore. Ive gave up on alot of things.
In other news:
-2 days till my next doctors appointment
-4 days until my 15th birthday(not really excited this year, actually...)
-15 days until Christmas(again, not very excited)
So thats about it for now..off to start my list of things.

I'm feeling a little blah today and a bit down. I'm not sure why, maybe its because I'm tired. I decided to write 10 things I like about myself to help me feel grounded again.
Ten Things I Like About Myself
1. I'm strong - I think that I've found the fine line between being assertive and being aggressive. I don't start anything, but I'll sure as hell finish it. I'm a fighter by nature (Haitian, Irish and Native American doesn't seem to be a docile mix.) but I enjoy peace, quiet and sometimes solitude.
2. I'm smart - I'm not just book smart, I'm people smart, too. I value the gift of intuition that God gave me.
3. I'm a good teacher - The students who come back and visit years later tell me they still remember things I've taught them. That makes me feel good. :)
4. I'm talented - I learned how to read music at the age of six. I got a band scholarship and I was invited to join the Madrigal choir in high school because the choir director heard me sing at an audition for a musical. Madrigal choir was the school's traveling / performing choir. I also think I'm a pretty good writer.
5. I'm pretty - Sure there are times where I've felt like I should be terrorizing people trying to cross a bridge, but for the most part I feel like I'm an attractive woman. I did some modeling from 1997 - 1999.. Nothing big, though, just few local fashion shows. At the time plus-sized models were a new thing. I was happy to be part of that new trend.
6. I have a goofy sense of humor - I like the fact that I can make other people laugh.
7. I can laugh at myself - I think it's a good thing not to take yourself too seriously. I think people who can't laugh at themselves have some insecurity issues. It's good to know you aren't perfect and it's even better when you can forgive yourself for not being so.
8. I love the relationship I have with my daughter - Although it's obvious that I'm not the fun, indulgent parent (that distinction goes to my husband), I like the fact that my daughter and I treasure our girl time together. I don't believe in treating children like our friends and I think in the end our children appreciate the feeling of security they have from having a parent rather than a "best friend".
9. I'm understanding - People tell me that they feel comfortable confiding in me because they feel like I'm not judging them. I honestly believe that our experiences are mostly responsible for how we react to things. It's kinda hard to judge people based on their experiences. It's easy as hell to judge someone based on some personality trait you've most likely attributed to them. Fundamental Attribution Error.
10. I'm not afraid to be myself - Ever since I was a kid I never cared whether or not something was "cool". It was a good thing, too because I was pretty geeky. Being a black Trekkie with red rimmed glasses who carried a clarinet around wasn't exactly cool, but I didn't care. This is probably one of the reasons why I'm not afraid to do public speaking or perform in front of an audience.

I recently noticed that the peel-off strip of my pantiliner had a bunch of "Kotex Tips for Life" on it. Annoying advice such as:
Staying active during your period can relieve cramps.
Avoiding caffeine may help reduce cramps and headaches.
Drink 6-8 glasses of water a day to keep you hydrated and feeling fresh.
Try Kotex blah blah blah other products...
Obviously the individual behind this was someone who has never possessed a functioning set of ovaries. Go ahead and tell a menstruating woman that drinking 6-8 glasses of water will help keep her feeling fresh. Like we need more fluid inside our bloated bodies from hell...but go ahead...I triple-dog-friggen-dare-ya... See what happens and report back. I'll wait.
While you're at it, dump out the coffee at work and remove the chocolate from the vending machine. I garan-damn-tee you that the first responders will be females who just ovulated.
Staying active will relieve headaches & cramps...well guess what, the only activities that interest me is eating..sleeping..bitching or crying for no apparent reason.. ...and oh...does ripping someone's head off count as a friggen' activity?????
Look, females don't need or want tips for living on their feminine hygiene products. Younger girls are already hearing "helpful" crap like that from elderly relatives. Veteran females have already concocted their own recipes for survival, many containing alcohol & barbituates.
Printing out crap advice while sneaking in ads for the brand that was already purchased is just plain annoying, not to mention rude, and is enough to send a girl running to the Always brand.
It's not a fun time, but DO NOT try to cheer us up by adding smiley faces or bunnies or flowery cutesy crap to your products or the packaging. Put the crap in a plain brown wrapper so we can throw it in our carts discreetly and have it blend in among the wine and beer.
There is nothing more annoying than having a blinding pink package announcing your uterine state to everyone in the store. Why don't ya just add an in-store microphone to the damn package& announce that...helloooo, another female in the store is on the rag!!!!!
So take your tips for living and your cute bunnies & the smiley faces and shove them right up your ass!
P.S. How about adding a free sample of Pamprin & maybe a shot of Vodka to your packages instead?
This week has been hard. I'm sorry I missed your call, my phone doesn't ring loud enough.
