I have a sort of love/hate relationship with fast food. I love how fast, cheap and yummy it is, I hate all the artificial crap, and how fattening it is. I also hate how it takes advantage of the underprivledged throughout the globe.
The worst of these is, of course, Mickey-D's. (Read the book
Fast Food Nation or see the documentary
Supersize Me.) I try not to eat there.
The thing is, lately they have been trying to dumb-down the image of an evil fast food company. They have been introducing "healthy" stuff and promoting active lifestyles.
But, guess what, they are just more corporate lies.
Example: my mom, who is always trying to maintian her weight, buys their chicken wrap thingies all the time thinking that it is healthier then other stuff on the menu. She ussually will order that with a small fries and a water or Diet Coke.
She, unfortunately, has been tricked into the common misconception that chicken is alway healthy. Has anyone actually looked at the fat content of that stuff? The chicken wraps at McDonald's actually has
more fat and calories then a regular cheeseburger. If you get it grilled instead of fried it still has more fat and the same amount of calories as the hamburgers.
McDonald's knows that most people assume that chicken is healthy (and in most cases it is, it depends on how it's prepared, among other things) and uses it to lie and make even more money,
Interesting, huh?
