Fair @ MindSay
Sunday we're going to church. It'll be the first time, save attending the service at the family reunion, that I'll be going to church. My parents were never church goers, but I think my growing interest in the Bible has inspired my dad to want to go. It's an older church that my dad went to with his parents when he was little. I'm a little nervous because I don't know anyone there, but I think I'll have fun. I just hope the preacher doesn't constantly talk about the whole "fire and brimestone" thing like a lot of churches in the South do.
I discovered a new artist that I like: William-Adolphe Bouguereau. He was around during the Realism movement (1850's) and painted "academic art." Some of my favorite works of art is Cupidon, L'Amour et Psyche, efants, Dante and Virgil in Hell, and Abduction of Psyche. I love the way he paints the human body. It's so beautiful. I'd love to rasturbate some of his paintings and make a mural on my wall. I really enjoy art that depicts something religious or something mythological.
(Dante and Virgil in Hell)
*Note: Rasturbate - Through the use of an online tool, taking an image and blowing it up to be printed on individual pieces of paper that can then be pierced together to form a large picture.*
It seemed this weekend that the whole town of Brigham City, Utah, turned out to join in the tail-end of summer's festivities, called "Peach Days". This is when the local peaches are ready to come off of the trees and give the town a reason (and why not?) to celebrate the harvest and the joy of life that a living gives, especially from the labor of one's own hands.
There were booths selling all types and manner of goods, from trinkets to hand crafted paintings and artifacts, to food (including the delicious homemade peach cobblers for which people stood in line). Along with the air of celebration was a fair with rides for all ages, games of skill, a flower show, fashion shows, showing fashions for all age groups, a hypnotist, singing groups and so much more.
I enjoyed the culinary delights of one of the local restaurateurs, of pulled barbecued ribs (don't often get it, since hubby does not eat pork), home grown green beans, and potatoes, prepared with the skins on...along with cobbler, of course. :)
My husband was the one with the camera in his hand, so you can guess already, what his eyes spotted to snap....the beautifully preserved and souped up classic vehicles. He also took a few shots of the fair, and I am posting one here, so you can see the view of "my" mountains. I will never grow tired of their splendor.
“The Divinity of Christ”
There is little doubt
that someone named Jesus of Nazareth walked the Earth some 2000 years ago, claimed to be the Son of God and die for our sins. Many of the worlds religions, at least, think of Him as a prophet. Among them are the Bah’ai Faith, Islam and numerous others. They all agree that He was a real person and a splendid teacher but not, necessarily, that He was who He claimed to be.
A few religions profess their particular prophet to be the last in a long line of prophets. In order for this to be the case, all the others would have to be wrong which seems unlikely, if not totally absurd (if you ask me). It’s far more probable that God has and will continue to send messengers (on His behalf) to share His way of life and unique perspective with the world. I propose to be one such individual.
Christianity teaches us that the divinity of Christ is without restraint. They claim we must either believe Jesus is the Son of God and that He literally died for our sins (so that all who believe in His name shall not die but have eternal life) or lose out on salvation entirely. To believe He was merely a man or a prophet is not good enough. The only way to God is through Christ. People of all other faiths will face the fires of hell for not accepting Christ as their lord and savior.
According to Le-way, the way to go to Heaven is to surrender The Knowledge of Good and Evil which can be accomplished in as many ways as there are to be sincere. You don’t have to be a Christian, Muslim or a Jew. You merely need to believe that God is perfect and be willing to surrender your life for His. Those who fail to do so will end up in Utopia (also called the Land of Oz or, sometimes, Purgatory) where they will experience Perfect On-going Justice, Actual Free-will and a Permanent 2nd Chance (to surrender The Knowledge of Good and Evil and go to Heaven).
Unfortunately, there is no way for any of us to substantiate either of these claims. No one knows for sure if Jesus truly was the Son of God or that Le-way isn’t just make believe. We must choose to either concede we are completely blind to the truth (and go on with our lives) or put our faith in what the truth should be (believing that God will make it that way). In either case, our beliefs do not determine what is or what isn’t and should never be allowed to take precedence over our ability to reason and approach things in the logical and systematic fashion that would clearly be Gods way (for God truly to be).
In order for me to recognize my own calling it becomes necessary (for me) to recognize that of others (as is the case with Jesus). I believe it’s entirely possible and completely realistic that Jesus was called to do what He did just as I have been called to do what I do. It’s not necessarily the case that history has correctly relayed the story of Jesus or serves His purposes any better than it shall mine (should it at all). The point is that Jesus may have achieved His objective without anyone ever, actually understanding what it was (so far as the vast majority of us are concerned anyway). I believe that Jesus could have died for our sins but that He would have done so unconditionally, asking nothing more than we give our lives to God regardless of what religion we belong to. According to Le-way, there will be liberty and justice for all.
“The Crack in the Liberty Bell”
May America bring us a miracle…
A paradigm shift that’s one of God‘s most wonderful gifts,
A promise in the form of justice,
And the end of times in a series of rhymes!
The truth is not a guessing game,
And no one knows Gods name
It doesn’t matter who is right
If no one’s willing to stand up and fight
To defend the truth for what it is
And hope God considers them one of His!
When all is said and done
Does it really matter what we call Gods Son
Or just that our lives were fun
Ah, I finally get to sleep in as long as I wont, and my eyes wont stay shut after 10 am , so after laying there for another hour, I decided to get up. Ugh... why?!
After getting up, and parked my but in front of the TV and turned on my PS2 for a little madden football action. Of course I end up losing my game by 5 points. Ugh. After that loss, I turned off the video game, and tuned into the Olympic coverage. Which is still on my TV. Right now its on channel MSNBC till 5 PM. Then I will be switching to another one of the NBC channels. The only other program on TV tonight, that I know of, is bones, but that's not till 8 PM.
Needless to say its been a rather boring day so far. As I write this, its starting to thunderstorm outside. Guess it wasn't a good day to do things outside after all. Glad I didn't waste my time washing my car or something. It's gonna be a rather boring night I guess.
So, what has the boredom got me doing? Humm... Oh, I put a diecast car , the Dale Earnhardt foundation , black #3 Chevy Monte Carlo , 1/24 th scale , in a clear and oak display box that I had in the closet. I found a spot for it on one of the stand out in the living room, after I cleaned the junk off that spot. Then clean the dust, polished and polished the stand, lol. So, that's out there now.
Humm, what else is there to do around here? Umm, probably dust my room, that be a good idea, haven't done that since last week. Yes, its a weekly chore, that I like. What else... I dunno, really I don't.
~ Guess that concludes this entry
Was woken up at 10 am with the request to go to the fair. Ok, I guess so... it's not like I have anything better to do anyway. So, I got up, got cleaned up and off we went.
We arrived a few minutes after 11, and to my surprise still got the "early bird" entry fee. Cause its only 4 dollars per adult if you get there before 11 am. its 9 bucks a person after that. So that was a pleasant surprise.
At the fair today, I got Trent Edwards autograph. He's the starting QB for the NFL Buffalo Bills. So that was cool. I got a new clip key chain, and a small 1:64 scale (match box car size) #5 Go Daddy car , driven by Dale Earnhardt, Jr. in the NASCAR nationwide series. I also got a few cool rocks to sit on my stand , one looks like a dark blue ocean, its flat cut , like a coaster. I then got a piece of quarts to sit on it. So it looks like frozen mountains coming out of the ocean.
Today's meal at the fair , was a jumbo (that's a foot long) corn dog. I also had a serving of "mini melts". Its like those dippen dots.
Then after walking around some more, getting pictures of horses, reindeer , and a few other animals. We were tired enough to dive the 23 miles home.
Now, here I sit, after arranging all the stuff in my room the way I like it, relaxing. The only plan's for tonight that I know of, is watching more Olympic coverage. Chatting with friends on here, and maybe a little PS2.
~ Go team USA !
Showing 1 - 5. [ Next ]
