Faces @ MindSay
I am currently working on writing a new song, so the next few posts will not contain any new videos. I thought it would be a good idea to mention some of my comments and messages, because I get so many of them now.
First of all, my "Fun with faces" video. I've now got 8 response videos to it, and more are promised. This is great fun. If any of you are a member of youtube and fancy trying it out with your pic, then be my guest. Please post it as a response to my video. The link to it is below:
The honours I got for this video were the best so far. At one point I had 20 different ones. The one that shocks me the most is that my video is in the top 100 Most responded comedy videos in the UK, of all time!!!!
Astounding!!
A few days back, I had a comment on one of my videos, telling me that I resemble "Miroslav skoro". I've never heard of the guy. So I did a quick search. It turns out that he is a Croatian singer. It's really difficult when you try to compare yourself to someone else. I just can't see it. The only comparison I can draw it that the hair is quite similar in some vids.
Well, how's the lay of the land on the Youtube stats situation.
616 subscribers now and my channel views are now 13,110. They've been moving a bit faster in the last week. The overall video views are now at 191,821. It should pass the 200k in less than 2 weeks, the way things are going.
On June 2nd, I will have been a Youtube member for 1 year. I'm going to try and get my new song ready by then. It's going to be interesting to see what the second year will bring.
The fun with faces video I uploaded has had a really good reaction. As I described in the previous post, I saw the website used on T.V. and decided to try it myself, and then put together a video about it. I encouraged other Youtubers to morph their own pictures and then post their own video as a response to mine.
So far I have 6 responses, and each one of them are very different, and very funny. These are the 6 users that have responded so far.

I've discovered in the last day, they have added some more morphing options to the list since I did mine.
I might do another post update if I get a good few more responses. I am having great fun with all this, and it does my music good as well, by giving it some exposure :)
I was watching Graham Norton the other night on T.V. and he visited a website that altered faces into different ages and races. Such as a child and an East-Asian. All you have to do is upload a front facing jpg of yourself, and you are ready to go. I thought I'd give it a try, and upload the results to my Youtube channel.
I set it as a challenge to the Youtube community. Asking them to go to the site and do the same with their picture. Then post their video as a response to mine. That way, all our strange pictures could be accessible from one place.
This video was a slideshow, so I dug out a song I wrote a few years back, to use as the backing. The name of the song is "I understand". That way I could show another of my unheard songs, whilst having fun at the same time.
Check out my video to see what happened to my photo:
As per usual. Here are some Youtube numbers.
My subs have breezed past the 600 barrier and are now 605.
My channel viewings are 12,798.
My total video views are getting real close to the 200k mark now, and currently stand at 186,136. I estimate is should take around 2 to 3 weeks to get there.
I keep getting recognized as people I'm not. This is kind of annoying me. But on the other hand I also think it's kind of funny and oddly flattering.
Maybe it's becasue I have what I consider very average and plain looks. Or maybe because I don't really do anything to stick out from the crowd. But for Whatever reason, it happens at least once a week. Someone will come up to and think I'm there friend So-and-So or they saw me at some place or insist they they know me from somewhere.
Just this morning I was heading to the Credit Union to make a deposit. When I got off the bus the lady behind me shouted at me to get my attention. She asked if I she had seen me in Diomandale (a town a few miles from Lansing) with my grandparents. I politely said that that wasn't me because I haven't been in Diomandale in years and I only have one living grandparent left and she doesn't live near here.
So, why is this? I guess I just have one of those familiar and/or likable faces.
Thanks,
Mark
POLITICS IN EDUCATION
NO MORE RIBBONS
In grammar school it has always been a much anticipated event to see the kids compete in Track and Field day. I loved it as a child and Patrick did too. A couple days ago I learned that this wonderful event has been removed and replaced with something more "friendly".
Competition and being rewarded for physical ability has now been deemed harmful and unhealthy in favor of appealing to the lowest common-denominator. Now the event is "battling obesity through physical activity day" so as to eliminate the exclusion of slow and/or fat kids. But what of the children who have exceptional physical abilities at a young age? What of their exclusion?
It is well know that childhood obesity is a national health problem. Most school educate children in healthy eating habits and the importance of exercise. That's what health and physical education classes are for.
This is yet another example of the dumbing down of America. In the efforts to appease and appeal to every "challenged" group and sub-group, those outside those groups suffer. To homogenize children like this does not serve their best interests and development.
Now parents will miss out on the joy and pride of watching their kids run and jump and compete. And the children are robbed the the sense of accomplishment and body confidence.
I say if your child is overweight it is a personal/family issue. Is it fair that 400 kids in an elementary school can't compete in track and field day because 100 of them are too fat to run?
I am not a particularly political person, so maybe someone reading this can educate me on the political aspects of this sort of thing. But socially, I know it sucks... big time.

Finally I don't have to fire up a separate program to work within FTP. What a time saving addon FIREFTP is. If you work with FTP regularly, and use Firefox, you really need this.
