Elvira @ MindSay

Back in July, I applied to be the next Elvira for a Fox reality TV show. I didn't hear anything back, but when I checked out the "Open Casket" call on YouTube and watched more than my fill of really terrible audition videos, I groaned. I didn't groan because I didn't think I had what it takes, I groaned because I don't think I'd go as far as other contestants seem to be doing. I'm strange, have my own share of weird, yet I can honestly say I'm not obsessed with any horror movie icons enough to want to be one -- or at least one that already exists! If I were to be a horror movie host, I'd be myself, not an Elvira clone. Also, after reading the application questions, I noticed that most of them centered around beauty pageant and modeling. I got the distinct feeling that it's all about finding Elvira clones that are statuesque and skinny. Oh, there were plenty of big gals vying to be the next Elvira, but none of them made it to the finals. As the band The Last Dance played, you could see them on each side of the stage, and all of them were nothing like me. So I've decided the show wasn't for me. Besides, the network doesn't pay for your way out to California and you have to pay for your own lodging as well, so it didn't pay for me to make an expensive trip out there anyway. Oh, well. I like being my Big Mama Goth self. If Elivra were to pick me for one of her handmaidens, I'd surely do it, but for now I'm content to be the Valentina you know and love.

The Last Dance, one of my favorite synth-goth bands, posted on their site that they will be playing for an "open casket call" for a new reality show where folks will be searching for a "new" Elvira. This gave me a shiver! Who could replace her?  Moi?  Am I dark enough of a mistress to follow in her stiletto footprints?  I would so love to be an obnoxious, big, curvy, sexy horror show host like my cartoon alter-ego, bigmamagoth.  But dare I try to pull it off for a reality show on FOX television?  I don't live in southern California!  Yet I can still apply and see what comes of things...  The Search for the Next Elvira requires sending a real out-of-character photo and a photo of myself as a horror hostess.  If you think I could be a great horror movie hostess with as much sex and sass as Elvira, take a look through my photos at my Myspace page or check out the ValentinaXXX wiki page Or...
