Toyota Prius

In most other respects, the 2009 Toyota Prius is pleasant. It's stable and quiet on the highway, it floats serenely over rough pavement and its hatchback body style makes it one of the most practical midsize cars on the road. Indeed, we'd recommend the Prius not only to fuel-economy junkies, but also to midsize-sedan shoppers who like the idea of being able to carry considerably more stuff without sacrificing refinement or passenger space. Unless you're put off by the Prius' greener-than-thou image or duller-than-everything driving experience, it's a uniquely appealing package.

Audi TT Coupe 3.2 Quattro
Design/Fit and Finish

There's no criticism inside, where the highest-quality materials come together with peerless fit and finish. The woven headliner is nicer than most cars' upholstery. Our test car's red and black leather brings a nice touch of color to an otherwise typically austere German cabin.

Lotus Elise SC

There's not much that's practical about the 2008 Lotus Elise SC. It's nearly impossible to get in and out of gracefully, the interior lacks many of the bells and whistles we've come to expect of modern road cars, and its diminutive proportions prevent it from carrying much more than a purse and a bottle of water. But here's the thing: with the right mindset, it doesn't really matter.

Metro Elite Mortgage : Test Drive: 2009 Audi A4 3.2 Quattro - Bigger, All-New Sedan Gives Those Other Germans a Run for Their Money

By: Laura Burstein , Automotive Editor
Vehicle Tested: 2009 Audi A4 3.2 quattro 4dr Sedan AWD (3.2L 6cyl 6A)
Pros: Good range of adjustable driving settings, ample cargo space, luxuriously appointed cabin, well-placed and convenient interface, excellent brakes.
Cons: Slower than some competitors, myriad sensor systems can be annoying, limited front-seat adjustment range.

The top three German carmakers have long battled it out for the biggest piece of the lucrative U.S. entry-level luxury sedan market. And historically, Audi's had the dubious honor of coming in last place. Although competitive in design, price and functionality (and even a forerunner when it comes to certain technologies), Audi's A4 has failed to see North American sales figures that meet those of competing models from BMW and Mercedes. Now, Audi is upping the ante in the hopes that its completely new A4 sedan will be the not-so-secret weapon that will help obliterate that gap.

Audi's strategy? More. The 2009 Audi A4 is nearly 5 inches longer and 2 inches wider than the previous model. That size increase makes way for more headroom, more shoulder room and an additional 1.4 inches of rear knee room. Audi also claims the A4 has the biggest trunk in its class.

BMW 7 Series 730d
Better than that, it can hit 100mph in just 17.7 seconds, thanks to that entirely healthy 242bhp and 398lb ft. To put that into sprinting limo perspective, that’s as fast as any hot hatch you care to mention. Now take into account 192g/km and the fact that on test, I averaged 43mpg, and you have a strong case for not bothering with any other engine. You might get to places faster, but you’ll have to stop – and that’s without taking into account the fact that you’re unlikely to be able to reasonably deploy any of that extra power in the UK without being put in prison with paedophiles.

Chevrolet Cobalt XFE

With the Cobalt-replacing 2011 Chevy Cruze and the all-electric Volt a few years away, GM needed that Band-Aid. Instead of dropping a highly efficient hybrid drivetrain under the hood of a Cobalt, the engineers opted for a list of readily available tweaks that included low-rolling-resistance tires, taller gearing, revised engine software and a shift light that prompts the driver to shift for optimal fuel economy.

Performance

In everyday driving, the brakes actually feel solid. Being a hybrid, this Escape's braking action is regenerative — applying the brakes also sends energy that would normally be lost as heat back into the battery pack. But despite tweaks this year to improve brake feel, they still feel a little touchy until you've acclimated, which in fairness doesn't take long.

Nissan Murano SL 2WD Comfort

Rear-seat cushions are firmer than those in front, but Nissan's decision not to include a third-row seat in the Murano is a boon for rear-seat passengers, who enjoy tons of legroom. Even with the front seats all the way back in their tracks, a 5-foot 7-inch staffer could still fit just fine in back.

Ford Escape Hybrid

The 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid is now available in Limited guise, a trim created by grouping together several of last year's optional packages in an effort to satisfy shoppers who'd rather not go without leather upholstery, a sunroof, heated seats or a CD changer. However, doing so comes at a price. Our Escape Hybrid Limited AWD tester hit the register at nearly $36 large, which is pretty big coin for a compact SUV. If you're willing to martyr yourself in the quest to be environmentally responsible by going without the Limited goodies, a base Escape Hybrid with front-wheel drive lists for $29,000. With the sizable federal tax credits available on all Escape Hybrids ($3,000 for the FWD and $2,200 for the AWD), the price tag drops even further.

Function

Even if you load up your F-150 with options, the controls remain fairly straightforward and intuitive. The truck offers both USB and standard audio jacks, and Ford has installed more storage compartments for things like key cards and cell phones. The center console box is larger and can stow two laptops within, while the flat rear floor and flip-up rear seats allow seriously large items to be carried inside the truck's cabin. The Ford guys demonstrated this by putting a 52-inch flat-panel TV box inside the rear compartment of the F-150; none of the truck's competitors were able to accommodate this box.

Dodge Dakota
Design/Fit and Finish

Interior design is also pretty industrial, but at least the exterior has that brawny Dodge appearance that gives the Dakota arguably the butchest look in its class. That's gotta count for something, right?

Miley Cyrus Trades in Mom's Porsche for Prius
Miley Cyrus says her mom's black Porsche -- which she inherited around her 16th birthday -- was driving her crazy.

So she ditched it for a new set of wheels.

"I didn't like it 'cause it was bad for the environment, and it was too big," she says in a new video on her Web site. "My dad surprised me last night with a black Prius."

She likes it better because it's "good for the environment, and it's adorable!"

Her first item of decor: "I'm gonna get Hello Kitty floor mats!"

Cyrus, who turned 16 in November and recently obtained her driver's license, had been longing for her dream car for some time.

Last August, she told Radio Disney that she wanted a car that was "big enough for all my friends and to scare all the cars away from me. I'm a good driver but it's everyone else that I'm worried about!"

Oh, what a big thing to do! Toss away the Porsche for the Prius.

I'm sorry, maybe I'm being a big man-bitch here, but this whole article just sort of rubbed me the wrong way.

You know what my first car was? It was a big, gray station wagon that only ran once in a while. I got that when I was 20 because my mommy wouldn't pass down her old car to me. If she had, I would have had a Toyota Camry with no rear window and more rust on it than you could imagine. I seem to remember there being a clear bag as one of the windows for about six months until they could replace it, and that rear window was actually replaced with a piece of plexi glass from Home Depot.

Your own car at 16? First a Porsche, then a Prius? My God, I feel so bad for her. How could her mother be so cruel as to hand her a Porsche, as bad for the environment as it is and all? Tsk tsk. There's a hot place in hell for a mom like that! *insert eye rolling*

What is so Special about Christians

What is so special about Christians? In a word, NOTHING! or EVERYTHING? What makes Christians special is ... nothing. Christians are really no different than any other person walking this globe. They live, hurt, get sick, get married, and die just like everyone else.  Some Christians learn they have cancer. Some go to church every week. Some lose a loved one tragically.  Some develop addictions to various substances or behaviors.  Some Christians get divorced. Christians are regular people.

Some Christians see themselves as different ... better ... spiritually elite. We may say we are the same, but we don't act it. There is some truth to the arrogant Christian stereotype. You see, when we proclaim what we believe (or know) to be Truth that is one thing. But when we disrespect the beliefs of others, we are saying we are somehow superior. Many times we tell someone they are heading to hell if they don't believe like we believe. At this point in a conversation, Truth is no longer the issue. Respect is. It's not what we say, but how we say it that makes the difference.

If we actually try to live and love the way Jesus lived and loved, it doesn't take long to realize that all people are the same. We all have the same needs. We all, in my understanding, instinctively know there is a God out there someplace. I also think we are drawn to Him because of His "everlasting love".

Religion tells us there is a God, and diagrams the way(s) to please Him.  Theology only tells us what shape God might be. Scripture will speak Truth to us if we take the time to listen, but even then, it is only partial, finite, human understanding. Who wants a God they can understand, anyway?

What's left? GRACE. You know, the bagpipe song played at thousands of funerals ... Amazing grace. What is grace? I have a favorite definition that goes along with mercy since they are often, though, mistakenly, used interchangeably. Mercy is when we don't get what we deserve. Grace is when we get more than we deserve.

Example: because of my sinfulness, I deserve hell, but because of God's grace, I am still alive and may even be headed to heaven.

Grace is the only thing Christians can claim that others may not have, and we have that as a gift. By definition, we did not, and cannot earn it. It is God's gift to His children, kind of like our inheritance. We often hear, "There, but for the grace of God, go I." Do we actually believe that? I know I do! That's just BlogSense!

Happy   4th!!!!
